Jahream Bula #269

He will sign long term, just sit back and enjoy the wins for now, it will all fall into place, If Bulla looks at Galvin,at this stage of the competition he's made a mistake leaving us same with Da Silva .Both Da Silva and Galvin where playing better football in the black orange and white in my opinion

Haven't read too far back to see if this has been mentioned, but the main thing I took away from Thursday regarding Bula was the toughness he showed.

He obviously went into the game carrying his shoulder from last week.

For those who question his heart, mind, or think he isn't up to it physically, watch that game again.

So many times he returned the ball or took a hit up and you could clearly hear the impact of collision.

Man, they hit him hard! And he went full tilt into every tackle.

I swear people think unless you're running around screaming like a lunatic then your heart and mind isn't in it.

Bula is just a calm dude. And it's probably a big reason he doesn't lose his composure after an error.

Because I would expect any player getting paid 900k or more to get their fair share of man of the match performances each season.
Drinkwater is very hot and cold , no doubt he has some very poor games, but he does generally have his fair share of match winning man of the match performances each season.
Based on that fact alone I can’t put Bula in the same class as Drinkwater.
In saying this I thought Jahream was very good for us in the 2nd half on Thursday night, some of his backline involvements and ball playing to create was as good as I’ve seen from him, so it at least shows he is working hard on some of the areas he has previously struggled with and if he continues to improve or simply play like he did in the 2nd half until he got injured, a contract figure of 900k might become reasonable.
We don’t even know if Jahream is happy with 900k, he via his manager could be asking for more for all we know ?
With Terrell and Samuela both likely to be looking for pay rises if they agree to extend their contracts with us, we have to be very mindful of not over paying players if we expect to keep the majority of this current team together.
I'd take Bula over Drinkwater every day of the week. Drinky's defence is worse than terrible.

I'd take Bula also but i wouldn't say he's miles infront of Drinky if at all. Bula's defense isn't great he goal line defense is next to non existent, his positioning is probably better though.

Isaac’s latest - Install Flanno as coach at Wests Tigers and you can keep Bula
OMG..

Imagine Flanno coming where we trade Luai for Kyle F...

I actually at one stage thought that Flanno should have been an assistant here under Madge. You have an experienced coach who could raise the squad and develop a pipeline with Cronulla. Heck during Madge's time Kyle F would have been a halfback upgrade... Nightmare hey.

The dragons have totally given up. loosing 62-16, clearly the Foran effect of picking a old Club player wont' be enough.

Dragons have been bottom 4 of comp for ages and Dean Young won't be lifting them.

Bula is miles ahead of Drinkwater in defence.

Missed Tackles:
Drinkwater: 16
Bula: 2

Tackle efficiency
Drinkwater: 72%
Bula: 93%
I get this feeling that Drinkwater wasn't wanted by many clubs.

Drinkwater does seem to have try-scoring ability and can cross the line. But people can see that he is a defense liability. Todd Payten would have been better to have stuck by the hammer then Drinkie. I think he is making the right choice now.

Drinkwater has now signed with the Dragons for the next 3 years and he will be 32y.o in the last year of his contract, so he wasn’t overly appealing when you look at it like that.
The question is what does Bula via his manager value himself at and should we even consider paying him anymore than 900k per season if that is the sticking point as to why he has not already re-signed with us ?

They need Brad Arthur , he bought Parra back from the depths to compete , they also need a clean out due to so much negativity around the joint , Brad Arthur and 6 new squad members would help , Flanagan Snr as an assistant would be ok as he can operate with decent players , Cronulla was proof BUT head coach would be looking over shoulder I think ,

I watched our game again and I did comment bulla was average so I watched it and he improved as game went on , he was better than I thought , still he needs to make a call on a contract either way as I think if it was sorted specially long term he would be better again , I would be happy with 4 years and $ 850 k with a jump based on cap increases each year

Bula isn’t as bad as some make out, however he does have issues with converting half chances into real chances like other fullbacks that have speedbursts do. I actually think he needs to dig in to the line faster rather than go abit sideways before straightening.

St George NEED Brad Arthur, totally agreed.

Dean Young kicked Mick Ennis out and the reasoning was "we need something new here, it needs to look entirely new.".
Flanagan won't be invovled in the St George rebuild.

Honestly this will help them, less ass#$%@ factor.

That said, St George have the highest points conceded against them and the lowest tries scored. Dean Young as their defensive coach and now full time coach is clearly out of his league.

We need Bula and Bula needs us

I reckon Bula would struggle at other clubs similarly how Galvin and TDS are now at Parra and Dogs, I’m sure he’ll feel a heck of a lot more accomplished if he helps dig the Tigers out of the trenches

I'm still waiting to see him break a tackle. Run straight and full pelt at gaps in the line. That's when he becomes a top shelf fullback.
