OFFICIAL Jahream Bula #269

The Curran no try, it would have been interesting if it didn't clip JL's foot. I watched Bula's effort, Curran landed short & skiding and really looked like Bula got his hands under & held it up.
So glad he extended.. we need him & he is getting better & better

if they gave the galvin try, which was a no try because he lost his grip on the ball and was short of the line, and titos hand was under it....than im pretty sure they would have confirmed Currans try.

He's a bit too nonchalant- needs a bit more chalant...

Freak of an athlete though.
I actually don't think he is nonchalant, just controlled. Yes Reece Walsh is a ball of energy and is all over the place, yet he can have some almighty stinkers and if he was playing for a team like the Tigers that struggle to defend errors than he is probably viewed in a completely different light. Bula plays more within himself and limits the errors as I believe that is the remit from Benji, don't chance your arm or do anything stupid. If the team's defense improves, than perhaps you will see more from him and our other players. What i have noticed is they are very conservative in attack, whereas Titans were more willing to chance their arm and it mainly came off for them last night.

Fair call but I'm referring more to his kick returns. He doesn't run with much vigour. I know he doesn't want to risk making a mistake running into a set line but he just tries to step one defender and then surrends on the next. I'd love for him to take on the line every now and then either with speed, power or footwork.

Even in attack, he's chiming in to 2nd man plays but again I'd love for him to run a tough line through the middle.

I have said a few times now, he needs to build up his core strength, he struggles to break tackles even if its marginal contact...maybe a focus area for next off-season.

Bula hasn't contributed a line break or line break assist since Round 13.
When we've needed him most he's failed miserably.
Being solid or reliable isn't the job description of an NRL fullback. Line breaks are mandatory.

We're stuck with a fullback who will never deliver.

Neither is being creamy lol. It’s all gone sour now.

Safe under the high ball and there in support but not gonna win you a premiership when the game is on the line he doesn't create anything himself.

I think Vicious has been right all along. He had big wraps because he was a talent from his debut but I just don't know how high his ceiling is.

I never understood the celebration when he re-signed.

A fullback has to have a combination of strength, speed and evasion.
Some can get away with an overload of even just two of those three.

Bula has none of those in his game.

He’s got no one to impress anymore. Got his contract.
He wasn’t proven anyway, just got very lucky timing-wise. For once the Tigers were flying, looked like we had a winning formula, everyone was focused on keeping team settled.
Couldn’t have asked for more perfect conditions for negotiations.

He has 100 almost line breaks, just needs to develop a change of pace from fast to explosive when at the line. He's fast in his fluid running style, just doesn't have that sharp acceleration.
