James Tamou - missing in action

So few minutes in a devastating 1st half.
No return to the field in the 2nd half.
No appearance at the post match press conference, as captain.
No explanation at all by Madge.
What's the story.

My theory is that it was a red flag to the team that even the Captain can be hooked. Interestingly I thought Joe Offa lifted his game. At one stage he ran to dummy half just as Brooks was about to slowly get into position. He later scored a try that gave us a sniff despite his broken nose.

Can anyone confirm if Tamou was injured or just benched? I find it very hard to believe he would have just been benched.

He was on the bench ready to go. No ice, no physio or anything near him. I reckon he was hooked

He deserved to be benched and I'm glad he was.

Madge confirmed in the press conference it was tactical and not injury related.

Pretty clear Madge went with the high-impact forwards to try and pierce the line? We needed points. He kept Mikaele fresh for quite a long time, not sure what point Mikaele first went out but it seemed quite late. Garner was brought out later in the piece as well.

I think it was about the 50th minute. Didn't sight him until well into the second half.

Stood Tall as a statue behind the goal posts…

P.S. …players haven’t had to appear at presso’s since last year only coaches…

We supposedly bought him for his leadership....not sure how he goes at training, but it's not translating to performance on the field. Captain at least should be leading by example...we don't have anyone setting defensive line speed and that's where our problems start...

Defence is an attitude, you hear it all the time. It's also about physics and inertia...if one player is charging at you at 20kmph, you should be aiming to match that and meet them head on, throw defending players 2 and 3 into the mix and the attacker should be getting driven backwards and put on their back. Instead we allow them to plough into the line and fold us backwards. It's a big effort area, but the good teams do it well.

Our mob don't even try...

We haven't had a captain that led by example for a number of years.

Thanks champion @Geo - I missed that about the players at the pressos.

And isn't that a disgrace.

I think it’s just that he’s a dud

How exactly is he is a dud?

He played 28 mins...

19 tackles at 100%
68 meters

For 28 mins, those are strong stats. The coach not giving him more time is beyond stupid.

Think i am in the minority. Think he's been okay. First half stint was good.

I know he doesn't set the world alight breaking tackles but is a solid defensive forward.

Just think Madge wanted more punch as we were 1000 points behind.

There was no way we were holding them out for 0 in the second half, i thought we would of had to score 42 to win.
