James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

Been reading this Forum for ages so finally thought I would give my thoughts on this …....
Teddy is a key requirement as we go forward. Would think this is a priority signing for the club and incoming Coach.
However if he feels his future is elsewhere there is very little we as a club and its supporters can do but look at alternative options ..... as soon as possible.
So it's essential that his decision is made as soon as the new coach is announced.

Agree… I have has enough of this and is driving me nuts..
Every day I jump on hoping for some good news but NOTHING.. Not even a whisper from the club but they want us to commit to them but don't want to commit to us.
Give them a deadline and start looking at other options elsewhere before they all go..
Lets do a Dogs or Roosters and buy others instead of developing our own a bit more

It would be a huge blow if Teddy goes. There's a lack of good fullbacks in the NRL and we have arguably the best one going around.

Hopefully we can pick up this year and sign him up to a long term deal.

The body language of Webster when interviewed on Channel 9 news tonight was very unconvincing as he told the reporter that the question marks surrounding the re- signing the big 4 was not affecting team morale.

There's an abundance of quality fullbacks in the NRL.

But how many are off contract and how many would want to come to the tigers. If someone like Tedesco was to leave then it will be a double blow as i think it will also make players think twice about coming here.

Tedesco will go on to be the next Billy Slater…or better. Losing him will not only set us back on the field, it will also mean our biggest star and drawing card for others to play with has walked away. If Teddy walks there's an even bigger reason for Moses and Woods to leave as our most dangerous attacking weapon just left the building. A halfback with a good kicking game and who can steady a young ship is probably the best option. A Townsend, Cleary, Widdop, Maloney type player. Hell, if the cash is spare throw it at Johnson. Jack Bird or Connor Watson could also be decent options and push Moses to half.

Putting a big strong pack and some dangerous outside backs into our signing list is the best way to keep our boys together.

McQueen, Matulino and Capewell are a good start of true. Kane Evans, Paasi, Asofa-Solomona are some other big units I'd have a crack at. Lewis or Hoffman for a year would work wonders in the back row. I'd do plenty to steal Hess away from the Cowboys but that won't happen.

Whare would be a priority signing for centre. You've also got James Roberts and Kahu off contract.

Gela-Mosby would be an awesome signing with plenty of pace and is stuck behind a good backline. Daniel Tupou has returned to form and has the height we've lacked for years. Another good option.

We need to be smart in order to become competitive. We've relied on 'promising' juniors with 'potential' making our side for too long. Young guys will also bring inconsistency. Something we've suffered from for years. You need balance from outside the club mixed with experience to bring out the best in priority positions. That's what wins premierships.

Losing Teddy is not even an option.

Who? And which ones are off contract that would actually come to the Tigers? Here's the list…

Darius Boyd, Nathan Davis, Josh Dugan, Jacob Gagan, Justin Hunt, Jordan Kahu, Kurt Mann, Peter Mata'utia, Gideon Mosby-Gela, Tyrone Phillips, Zac Santo, Billy Slater, James Tedesco, William Zillman

Out of that list it's:
Kahu
Dugan
Boyd

I don't think any of them would actually play for us. We really need to sign Teddy as a priority.

No way. The last thing we can afford to do is start paying overs again and getting ourselves in the same mess we are only now just coming out of. But Tedesco is a special case. He's the only player in our side that you can justify throwing overs at. Offer the others what they are worth. If they take it great, if not wish them good luck and say goodbye. Tedesco they have to go the extra mile. If he leaves, Pascoe has to ensure that its over his dead body.

100% agree on this. Losing teddy doesn't bare thinking about. I just have the horrible feeling he doesn't believe he can fulfil all his career goals with us.
I liken it to losing a good woman. You can do anything and everything in the world to keep her, but if she doesn't believe you're good enough for her in the long run, she's walkin out that door.

Let's just hope teddy doesn't fall for the sweet nothings being whispered by our rivals.

I think that if we can get a few good forwards that go forward and quality halves who have a good kicking game and don't miss tackles along with Cleary I think Tedesco will be inclined to stay. You can't put Tedesco around a bunch of plodders. Rugby League is a team sport and Tedesco is by far our best player but he can't beat an NRL team on his own.

Do whatever it takes to keep Tedesco but we need to upgrade the rest of our squad first, and that might mean making a few harsh call but it will be for the better in the long run.

Mitch Moses, according to SMH yesterday (or Friday) stated he was delaying signing until coach decided because he wants to be in a grand final team - stated that money had nothing to do with it. It would not surprise me if he is waiting for coach and Tedesco to sign before committing.

What a jokester. I'm sure the Storm, Roosters and Broncos are just banging down his door ATM.
