James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

Mitch Moses, according to SMH yesterday (or Friday) stated he was delaying signing until coach decided because he wants to be in a grand final team - stated that money had nothing to do with it. It would not surprise me if he is waiting for coach and Tedesco to sign before committing.

The way he is playing at present the only GF winning side he would make would be a reserve grade side. In saying that don't believe a word that comes out of the media, 90% is fabricated or misquotes. I get the feeling Moses being a cocky sort of bloke would have a lot fun stringing some Nrl jurnos along who are short on IQ

It would be a huge blow if Teddy goes. There's a lack of good fullbacks in the NRL and we have arguably the best one going around.

Hopefully we can pick up this year and sign him up to a long term deal.

There's an abundance of quality fullbacks in the NRL.

Who? And which ones are off contract that would actually come to the Tigers? Here's the list…

Darius Boyd, Nathan Davis, Josh Dugan, Jacob Gagan, Justin Hunt, Jordan Kahu, Kurt Mann, Peter Mata'utia, Gideon Mosby-Gela, Tyrone Phillips, Zac Santo, Billy Slater, James Tedesco, William Zillman

Out of that list it's:
Kahu
Dugan
Boyd

I don't think any of them would actually play for us. We really need to sign Teddy as a priority.

I dont disgree that's he's the priority. I was disagreeing with your statment that's there's a lack of good fullbacks in the NRL.

I was simply asking you to name the ones that we could get to replace him. If we have a replacement, then he becomes less of a priority…get what I mean....?

These blokes have dug themselves into a hole. They unionised behind their manager and went for top dollar. This was aided by strong interest from other clubs, which made it look very possible that we would have to pay somewhere in the vicinity of 3.2-3.5 mill a year for the four of them.

Since then, their form has dropped considerably. Even Teddy is playing pretty average footy, getting totally outplayed by Slater last week even though he was starved of the ball for the majority of the game. They are coming across in the media as a bit drama queenish especially with regards to their support/nonsupport of their ex coach as well as ex captain.

They look like they need a lot of managing and that may be scaring potential offers away or lowering those on the table. If they were really concerned with a premiership, they would not have asked for maximum dollars. The glamour clubs arent going to pay 900k for an unproven 5/8….especially when they are already set with good rosters. If these blokes truly want to be a part of a premiership drive whilst earning very good money, their only option is to resign here. If the team was on top of the comp, they may have bargaining power but coming dead last and playing dreadful footy doesnt give you much ammo to argue with.

Completely agree. They need to lift their game 200% and keep it there for them to contemplate the dollars they want starting today.

Idk if it's a good or bad thing for Brooks being out injured for a few weeks. He doesn't have a chance to impress rival clubs, but he doesn't run this risk of plummeting his price tag further either. I think he'll stay if for no other reason he won't have any other options. Therefore we low ball him. We hold the upper hand with Brooks.

Can you quote the Moses article? It sounds a lot like what Tedesco said the other day, except nothing about being in a GF side.

Agreed Stryker. They want to play finals football and grand finals.

How are they going to do that when the 4 of them are strangling the Tigers and taking up like the whole cap. If they were unselfish they would take less money so the tigers can build a strong roster with plenty of money, so they can actually win a comp.

Instead we will have 4 players and the rest of the team of players like Kyle Lovett because the Tigers can't afford anyone else and we will finish at the bottom year after year.

It could get scary for Brooks if Moses catches fire in the next few weeks, The theory of him playing better without Brooks will come up again.

Yep reports say Brooks is the only one trying to sign here so far and that IMO is due to lack of interest outside this club. With him out and injured and the chance that Mitch catches fire in his absense, he really should break ranks from Moses's Big 4 and sign ASAP.

Pressure is on Moses now. If he doesn't step up in Brooks absence like he did at the end of last year he'll be the next one with few options. Excuses are running out now, everyone is seeing it.

I actually think with the right coaching, Brookes can be a very, very good halfback. I don't mind if we sign him. He needs confidence more than anything. There have been plenty of good judges saying pretty much the same thing.
I look forward to seeing what Cleary can do with him - if he agrees to join us of course.

Totally off subject Yeti , but after reading your very ,very comment I thought of Captain Lasard from the Police Academy movies

Back on Brooks , I struggle to see how anyone can fix his defensive issues , no matter who you put around him he is going to have to make 1 on 1 tackles from time to time

Still the biggest issue moving forward

How did the Sharks fix Maloney's… who misses more one on one and tackles than any half in the Comp...?

Defence isn't about 1 man...you need to look at why our halves get isolated so often..

Maloney is similar to Moses were he manages to stay on his feet when he misses tackles and is still an active defender

Stats don't always tell the full story Geo

Rubbish…Knights put him on his bum plenty of times yesterday...Elliot ran past him like he was air...

Doesn't change the fact Cleary will have his work cut out to remedy our defence issues like all previous coaches...I hope he brings David Fairleigh with him cause Stringer and Webster have done nothing to help our halves and forwards to defend as a unit...
