Totally off subject Yeti , but after reading your very ,very comment I thought of Captain Lasard from the Police Academy movies

Back on Brooks , I struggle to see how anyone can fix his defensive issues , no matter who you put around him he is going to have to make 1 on 1 tackles from time to time

Still the biggest issue moving forward

How did the Sharks fix Maloney's… who misses more one on one and tackles than any half in the Comp...?

Defence isn't about 1 man...you need to look at why our halves get isolated so often..

Maloney is similar to Moses were he manages to stay on his feet when he misses tackles and is still an active defender

Stats don't always tell the full story Geo

Rubbish…Knights put him on his bum plenty of times yesterday...Elliot ran past him like he was air...

Doesn't change the fact Cleary will have his work cut out to remedy our defence issues like all previous coaches...I hope he brings David Fairleigh with him cause Stringer and Webster have done nothing to help our halves and forwards to defend as a unit...

And yet he is thought of as an SOO player , you don't pick blokes who can't defend as a individual or a team at that level

Stop defending Brooks , it's becoming embarrassing mate

Who have been Cleary's assistants in the past?

David Fairleigh was 1

He's an assistant somewhere else. I noticed him last night. Can't remember which club though.

Raiders perhaps ?

No Cowboys. Just looked him up. So I noticed him Friday. He was at the Warriors the final 2 years Cleary was there, then Cleary's whole tenure at the Panthers. Good odds he could end up here.

Tedesco will go on to be the next Billy Slater…or better. Losing him will not only set us back on the field, it will also mean our biggest star and drawing card for others to play with has walked away. If Teddy walks there's an even bigger reason for Moses and Woods to leave as our most dangerous attacking weapon just left the building. A halfback with a good kicking game and who can steady a young ship is probably the best option. A Townsend, Cleary, Widdop, Maloney type player. Hell, if the cash is spare throw it at Johnson. Jack Bird or Connor Watson could also be decent options and push Moses to half.

Putting a big strong pack and some dangerous outside backs into our signing list is the best way to keep our boys together.

McQueen, Matulino and Capewell are a good start of true. Kane Evans, Paasi, Asofa-Solomona are some other big units I'd have a crack at. Lewis or Hoffman for a year would work wonders in the back row. I'd do plenty to steal Hess away from the Cowboys but that won't

Whare would be a priority signing for centre. You've also got James Roberts and Kahu off contract.

Gela-Mosby would be an awesome signing with plenty of pace and is stuck behind a good backline. Daniel Tupou has returned to form and has the height we've lacked for years. Another good option.

We need to be smart in order to become competitive. We've relied on 'promising' juniors with 'potential' making our side for too long. Young guys will also bring inconsistency. Something we've suffered from for years. You need balance from outside the club mixed with experience to bring out the best in priority positions. That's what wins premierships.

Losing Teddy is not even an option.

Roberts is too injury prone for me.
Almost every game he's limping for one reason ot another, always inches off another injury.

Missing the point entirely as usual…I would have Maloney at Wests Tigers in a heartbeat doesn't change the fact he is a very poor defender as is Brooks ,,,look at what they have around them though and how those teams defend as a unit...

It's like blaming a fullback for letting in a TRY when the other bloke has run through 12 other blokes...

And your still blaming the rest of the side for Brooks deficiencies Geo

Why are clubs reluctant to sign Brooks , yet are throwing the kitchen sink at Moses

Yet Brooks is faster , has a better passing game , better kicking game (long and short ) …....

Mitch Moses, according to SMH yesterday (or Friday) stated he was delaying signing until coach decided because he wants to be in a grand final team - stated that money had nothing to do with it. It would not surprise me if he is waiting for coach and Tedesco to sign before committing.

The way he is playing at present the only GF winning side he would make would be a reserve grade side. In saying that don't believe a word that comes out of the media, 90% is fabricated or misquotes. I get the feeling Moses being a cocky sort of bloke would have a lot fun stringing some Nrl jurnos along who are short on IQ

Can you quote the Moses article? It sounds a lot like what Tedesco said the other day, except nothing about being in a GF side.

Wests Tigers stars Mitchell Moses and James Tedesco are on a collision course with management after declaring they won't let a club-imposed signing deadline pressure them into a decision on their futures.
Moses and Tedesco remain off contract, as do Aaron Woods and Luke Brooks, the other members of the Tigers' "big four". The club put extension offers to the quartet before the start of the season, but are no closer to getting an answer on their futures. Complicating matters is the fact officials have yet to officially announce a replacement for sacked coach Jason Taylor, although Ivan Cleary will be the man to do so.
Sea Eagles end Roosters undefeated run
The Manly Sea Eagles have snapped the Sydney Roosters' unbeaten start to the season thanks to a late double from Dylan Walker.
Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said the club would bring the issue to a head by imposing a deadline on the Woods, Brooks, Moses and Tedesco to take up the offers, a move that would give the club enough time to find replacements should they decide not to stay put. However, Moses and Tedesco echoed the sentiments of Woods in declaring they won't be pressured into making a decision.
"The club has been talking about putting a deadline on it," Moses said.

"There's not even a coach at the moment so if they've put a deadline on it, they've put a deadline on it.
"If I'm committing my future for the next four or so years, I think I've got every right to know who will be coach and what future lies ahead.

"I don't want to lock myself in long term and not know who the coach is. It's a big decision."
Tedesco knows the perils of rushing in and putting pen to paper. When he was last off contract, the NSW fullback signed a lucrative deal to join Canberra. He rued the decision and was able to overturn it courtesy of a 10-day cooling off period, a mechanism that has since been abolished.
"The last time, the last contract, I made a rushed decision," Tedesco said.
"I think that's probably the worst thing for us. It's best to take your time and not rush into a decision you're going to regret."
****RelatMoses and Tedesco are adamant that the biggest factor in coming to a decision is not money but the chance to play in a team that is a genuine premiership contender. The pair haven't played a single finals game since making their debuts and want to gauge how the Tigers will fare under a new coach before recommitting.
"It has nothing to do with money. Money is the last thing on my mind," Moses said.
"First thing is I want to be playing good footy in a good footy side. That's the biggest thing for me.
"As long as I'm playing good footy and enjoying my footy, the money doesn't matter.
"Being here the last three or four years and we've been at the bottom of the table every year, it takes its toll on you.
"There's something happening here at the Tigers. But obviously we want to know who the coach is and we want to win games."
Tedesco added: "That's any player's dream, to be playing finals football. Whether that's here or somewhere else, I have to see."

Someone , I think in this thread mentioned Brooks as hooker, after thinking about it, there's been a lot dopier ideas than that on the forum.
His defence would be right in the middle and he would have a lot more help there, and it is better than Liddle is, and Cherrington was.
He's got speed when it's needed and could cut teams up in close.
I'm not saying it would work. But it could.

Who writes this crap lol

LOL Moses….the reason you always are at the bottom of the table is in no small part due to your performances. Puts in a solid 5 out of 10 game and talks himself up afterwards in interviews....thinks he is worth 900k? get out of here.

Alright same as Tedesco, he didn't actually say GF side, just he wants to play finals.

It's clearly a line from the manager, all the guys are saying the same stuff. Funny how none of them seem to think they are at all the problem, that they would never be the cause of failing to make the finals.

I get it, you can't say that stuff in contract years, you need to talk yourself up. Galling though, this is pure Farah playbook stuff, how to make silly little comments and turn the fans off.

Isaac Moses is poison. Job well done on getting your clients own fans to turn on them. Even people are getting Jack of Tedesco. Not that you'd care you flea.
