James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

no one should be assuming hes going to stay.
if he does - it will be great for the tigers !

but the reality is - these three kids (teddy brooks and moses) arnt naive kids anymore
they got a lesson in club business this year in a few different ways

winning a comp, being paid and playing with the best.
apparently, thats the new mantra !

Roosters want Teddy bad

If we lose him I'll be gutted and will most probably lose faith in the game

I was a Wests supporter when Tommy Raudonikis went to Newtown and if that didn't make me lose faith, neither will losing ANY player.

I was gutted when we lost Hodgson.

You get over it.

I remember that, and we lost O'Grady to newtown as well, Brown, Boyd and Dorahy to manly all in one off season, that is 3 internationals, an origin player and a future international, yet we ended up running 3rd in the minor premiership the next year.

People keep saying you can only play for X years and need to look after yourself financially, so he has a lot of thinking to do. Melbourne are also keen too, I guess due to Slater's injuries.

Me too, my son cried, Hodgo was his favourite! He wanted to be just like Hodge but has grown to be over 6" and is more like the Sauce than Hodgo!

We did get over it only after Teddy hit the scene!

Perfect example of why NRL neeed to allow Cap dispensation for club juniors, or these players being entirely exempt from the Cap..

The whole reason the cap exists is to prevent rich clubs buying the best talent but in this case a club like the Roosters could have more to throw at Teddy than we do. Especially with TPAs included

If the NRL doesn't take a stand soon the demand will outnumber the supply as there are only a few clubs left that actually produce quality junior players.

I can't see how other clubs can offer so much more because there is a salary cap. Tedesco will have to be on the books of whatever club he goes to for more than what we are prepared to offer him via the salary cap.

I think he will sign with us and I don't think he will try to get paid overs.

They're not talking about the cap Steve - they are talking TPA's.

Agree, there does need to be incentive and big incentives as well. This will force clubs to invest in grass roots so they spot talent earlier and bring them through the ranks.

Isn't Harry going to step in with 3rd party money as he no longer sponsors the club directly?

I just assumed he would cover our spine at least

Munster is a gun fullback, no Teddy but I can see him playing in the 6 jersey

My thoughts as well,

I thought this was the exact reason he gave up sponsorship, so that he could help retain Teddy and co.

That's it. Players, coaches, staff, they're all temporary. Success is ebbs and tides. The club is the only permanence.

If teddy went there munster would play the 6

Anyone that doesn't think Teddy will be receiving offers of $1million a year from half the league is deluded. We will offer somewhere in that ballpark too, that's market rates, unless he asks for less.

Just remember he turned down more money to stay once, and he's gone on the record about trying to get the other big players to take less cash to stick together.

Penrith just announced the re-signings of Moylan and Cartwright who were both off contract next yr. And both of them would command more money than our off contract players bar Tedesco. So theres no excuse to not wrap up 2 or 3 before round 1\. We can't let it drag on like Tedesco's last contract and Moses and Brooks this yr. The good clubs get these things sorted. So this is a test of Pascoe's metal.

I get it but I'll explain it this way. The roosters can offer Tedesco $100k out of their cap but $5 million in TPA's. We offer Tedesco $1 million. The roosters can't put Tedesco on their books at $100k. He will have to be on their books for at least $1 million.

The salary cap has to limit clubs from purchasing players like this.

I honestly don't see the big issue. I think it's just us stating how everything is against us when it isn't.
