The panthers must be paying there remaining players huge wages , when u think of the players they have lost , I count at least 6 players who would having on good coin and there still on the edge

Cleary, JFH, Edwards, To'o, Yeo, would all be on very good money I'd reckon. Then you have Tago, Leota, Turuva, Sorensen, May, Kenny and Luke who would be commanding decent money too I would think.

They've done well to balance that roster out and stay competitive. Of course it helps when you have a couple generations of class players come through to keep the first grade side well stocked but in a salary cap era it's an impressive achievement.

the main core you mentioned are on upwards of $700k with Leota on a little less. I'd be fairly certain Turuva, Sorensen, May and Kenny are all on pittance, although two of those (Turuva & Kenny) will be upgraded for '25.

like you say, their cap model is the ideal model moving forward, especially for us with the young talent we have coming through. identify your core, extract value from your youngsters for as long as possible, and prepare to be outbidded by clubs for those players when the time comes. despite the losses of Burton, Kikau, Crichton and Leniu, the machine rolls on.

Luai is the interesting one. I think they'll move things around and Cleary will be jumping between first and second receiver when he chooses, but they might lose a lot more off the field and culturally than they bargained for.

Interestingly enough the core group they have retained besides Yeo whom was playing firsts from the 2014 season; all featured in the 2015 nyc cup team and debuted the following year in 2016.
everyone outside of that group seems to be valued slightly less. Martin might be the next to move on if his value continues to soar.

time together and combinations are key. that's why this core from the 2022 Harold Matts side is super important. Da Silva, Galvin, the Laulili'i's, Mason, Craig and Miller have played a stack of games together for many years. the second crop which features your Large's, Makasini, Havea, Sheck and so forth.

identify the ones crucial to the system and lock them up.

as for Martin he's locked up til 2027 and he'll be 31 by the time he starts his new deal. I'd say he's a Panther for life.

Didn’t realise re Martin, thought he only signed a 2 year extension a year ago.

I agree with this. I actually think having those boys you listed (including the NRL contracted ones) play all together in Flegg instead of Cup this season (unless called up to NRL). Get them used to playing together week in week out and hopefully get a culture of winning week in week out

You would think the plan is to give all those contracted to our too 30, Train & Trial, Development opportunities at some stage during our two trial games.

Last year there was no plan. Da Silva played all over the place as did Laulilli.

I'd play Laulilli, Galvin, Da Silva, Miller all in Flegg when not in NRL.

Yep, Feledy too, and if Latu and Samuela aren't ready for NRL play them with them too. Even Matamua and Tumeth if they're still young enough (borderline). Set out for consistency in the Flegg set up and try and win it
