OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

He's been good for us but 1.2 million worth of good, certainly not.

But we don't have much of a choice, hopefully he can earn some of his coin off the filed and bring some of his Samoan mates to the Tigers.
If a couple of results had of gone our way we are sitting around 9th with a bye up our sleeves and everyone is waxing lyrical about how Luai has made a change and is worth every cent.

He has shown so much effort in games both attack and defence. He gets fired up during games and gives away penalties which are dumb, but he did that at the panthers and SOO.

First season at the club, we have had the Galvin shit show, plenty of injuries, and have a number of positions that need upgrading. We have had some close games, so far won more than previous year and really one shocker against Melbourne. We are not in contention yet but improving and he is most definitely a big reason for that.

The main reason we brought Laui here was to bring a winning culture and help with training standards etc ..

He has done this in spades, and we have won 7 games already this year and more than any of the last 3 years with like 6 games left.

Take a good look at who he is playing with as our roster is one of the worst in the game, but we are 100% heading upwards but it takes time.

Richo will add to the areas we lack and by the looks of KPP he will be a very good buy.

Yeah no doubt he is a good player who has improved the team and the culture of the club, however do you think he has looked like an elite player?

I don't think so, if he's worth every cent he should be in the very highest category of player.

Gutho for Saints has been better value then Luai, for example and he aint on 1.2m. There'd probably be a number of better value buys then Luai.

However, its only early in his time here.

Weve had to pay overs for a long time

I just saw the replay of him taking out Campbell after a kick in the first half... What is he trying to do? Is he trying to find out the grey area in the rules or something and push the boundaries? Because it was so damn obvious he ran him off the ball... I'm dumbfounded..
Thing is, some are saying that he didn't change his line, which he was told as the reason previously. I haven't seen any af the match, but if he continued on the same line as he set off on, then he shouldn't be penalised.

Luai will fire like any half he needs players. If we can get May, Fainu, Makasini outside Luai they will create havoc. Latu Fainu, KPP, Toa, Turuva will also trouble teams on the right.
Hoping that just having Taylan there now will open up a bit more space for Samuela as well. Whilst serviceable at centre, Doueihi with his ambling runs doesn't demand near as much immediate attention as Taylan does, which opens opportunities either side of him.

Again, I haven't watched any of the match, but read that Seyfarth had a big one, which was probably also helped simply by having the threat outside.

Giraffe didn’t have that big a game.
But yeah I agree with you about May taking some attention away and giving Sam a little more space to make those half breaks into full ones then offloading to May.

He didn’t have a big game but was very effective because of the lines he runs which were used, his offloading also provided some positive shifts as well.

He had an average game, the sort I would expect from any NRL forward. But yeah I guess for a baby giraffe, an average game is a good result.
He was better than Tony

no luai = no turuva, no terrell may, no taylan may. he’s made the club somewhat “cool” again for players to want to come here. that for me justifies his pay packet
He's the tentpole signing, surely everyone knew that? Roy Asotasi for the Tigers.

Benji is the same, people are so fast to rag on "his coaching" and totally underestimating the pull he has with young players and new recruits.

I just watched a good amount of the Turuva podcast with Terrell May and they both talk strongly about how Luai and Benji were both big drawcards, also Api, giving them confidence to join the Tigers. Also then that they heard all this outside noise and criticism, but they said once they got to the club it wasn't like that at all, the leadership and bonding and attitude is great and they believe in the culture they are building.

The 3 tries we scored down his side had no structure?

Watching the game I felt like the team had just meet each other in the warm up and needed name tags to identify each other

It was an absolute Sh!t show maybe round 1 you can understand but not now deep into the season

You can not keep changing the team around like musical chairs hopefully something will work

Poor communication and coaching

Hopefully the team can play together for the rest of the year and build confidence and combinations
