OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

idk if you’ve watched the last 3 games but we don’t score any points without him. and without him we wouldn’t of landed the mays, turuva, Skelton etc
Agree. First season and limited pre-season + disruption with Galvin, he's improved at the back end.

He doesn't get the stats, but he also doesn't stifle the play. He shifts to where the ball needs to go so others around him benefit. He's not a selfish player. Perhaps too unselfish, but he's starting to look really sharp and the timings of all the players seem to be coming together.

Defence wise, he's great. Short kicking, he's also very good. His weakness is his long kicking game if I had to nit pick.

Great summary

All this stuff about what he does off field is merely unquantifiable dribble. None of us can really judge that and have to take the word of unreliable witnesses.
For that reason we can only judge what we do see.
He speaks well in interviews and says all the right things. He defends well. His short kicking game is deadly at times.
He also doesn’t lead well enough and plays like a headless chook too much. He doesn’t seem very adept at dealing with officials either. He ain’t a captain.
For mine he isn’t worth the money he is on and has been a let down this season, but the team are starting to play better recently so I’m interested to see what they can do next year.

Benji:
“Jarome has been really great for us. I know people have mixed opinions about what he's done on the field, but off the field he's definitely changed the place in terms of standards with what he's brought to us.”

Api:
“He’s changed so much since when I first met him back in 2020… His footy IQ and the way he’s able to convey his ideas or what he thinks we should do is incredible. … He knew that he had to change things at this club. He’s come in and he hasn’t held back. Everyone looks up to him and loves him… If he needs to say something then he will, and that takes real leadership and courage.”
He also praised the fresh, energetic atmosphere Luai helped foster: “The vibes have been great… How you start your sessions at training is really important… The vibe they’ve created helps build connections off the field as well. The laughs you create off the field definitely translates to on the field.”

Richo:
“Penrith provided him with the polish that’s made him what he is, on and off the field … At our club he’s the alpha leader, he’s taken on that role, and I’ve been surprised at how good he has done at that role. I’m just glad we’ve got him.”

Turuva:
“(Our set-up) is similar [to Penrith], to be honest. One reason is because we have Jarome here,” Turuva told AAP. “He’s driving the standard, driving the culture. It’s a real young group, so that’s pretty good for me as well.”

im not sure how much more credible you can get?
