OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Been a big supporter of Luai. However, the game changed when he put in the attempted grubber on the 2nd or 3rd tackle and the Titans picked it up. From then on the momentum shifted and we were gone.

Said we wouldn't get the spoon if he was in the team.

He was right.

3 x spoons, to 12th place.
An improvement, no doubt.

Need to do better next year.
Like us to win games like this one today, which we let go many times this year.
He also said he'd be Batman. This season he's been 2nd fiddle to two rookies galvin and latu and also adam doueihi. He's not even been a good Robin. Not the worst signing in the NRL in 2025, but the worst on value to performance by a country mile.

Very disappointing result, especially the scoreless second half.
Once again, another last round capitulation, last win 2017.
As the sun sets on another season we celebrate going from 17th to 13th but commiserate losing to one of the 2 bottom teams after leading by 16.
Boy it’s hard to see the positives. Anyway, we reconvene in 6 weeks and do it all again.

I wonder if Ciraldo is considering Sexton and Burton as halves next week, and starting with Mahoney.
Back to the future coz Hayward and Galvin both mediocre ?
Just a thought !

I just don’t see it
- people blaming Galvin for our dog shit attack are dead set kidding themselves.

He looks absolutely clueless without the room he was getting at the Panthers.
Terrell needs to get a grip on what his primary role is - to dominate the middle.
flat footed at the line looking for an easy option.
good call on Tyrrell , thats a major part of his game, low impact

This keeps getting brought up. The team has to defend it better. Its been a problem for years.

That grubber finds its way through and we probably score. Probably wasnt the play for the moment, but it wasn't as terrible as the missed tackles, the lack of effort, intensity and discipline from the team as a whole.

If Benji wants Terrell playing this way, he needs to move him to 13. Otherwise cut down his minutes and tell him to rip in.

Daley was right to leave May out of Origin.

For all luai's adlib plays he rarely seems to make errors. I think that doesn't get much of a mention. Passing is always excellent and he usually sets up players around him well. Long kicking is accurate and short kicking is ridiculously good (why doesn't he do it more?). The only issue for luai is having more influence on the time, but I feel like he's become more dominant as the season's gone on. I think we underrate him. Yeah, not worth 1.2 mil, but we were always going to have to pay more and he's definitely a top tier half in the league.
Mate a guy of his experience, at all levels should understand how to orchestrate a try when taking possession in the opposition 20.
He has no idea! His only play is give it to May and hope he scores. He never has running options hitting holes, never works over a target in defence. Just runs around like a headless wanker.
Be serious…out of the 34 regular halves in this seasons comp, where would you rate him? I haven’t done the excercise, but I doubt he’d be in the top 20.

Reynolds, mam , Hughes, Munster, Moses, Fogerty, C Walker, s walker, Metcalf, Dearden Cleary, katoa are all better. Is Campbell better? Probably, although I haven't watched him defensively. I don't think there's much between him and Hynes.

That said, he'd be starting half at most clubs. Hynes has a better kicking game, but I'd still probably take luai over him.

Luai's kicking game has gone backwards this year.

I think he's a threatening adlib runner. He's got all the skills and is excellent defensively. His last tackle options have been atrocious. Totally unacceptable. I think he does most other things well but that detracts from everything else because half of a half's game is last tackle. I have been most surprised by the fact he's not the sort of player who demands the ball, who wants to control the game.

I think he had a really poor 2nd half but I blame our lack of strength in the tackle and our hesitant running more than him. Not excusing him, just reckon we were so poor physically after showing so much that it's just hard to see anything we can build our game around when the fundamentals of tackling hard and running hard aren't there.

Luai is just a part of the shift. He was never the answer no more than any one individual is to a team -; especially a three peat wooden spoon team . His salary was earned on the back of what he has achieved and no doubt this season had been a reality check.

Agreed, if we can buy a few more good players next year and for 2027 I wouldn't care if he goes to the Bears in 2027, not worth 1.2m he is playing at 50% off. If you can't dominate and step up attack wise against the bottom teams how are we going to fight for a premiership? His not the sole blame of course, Seyfarth, Saukuru and to be fair most of our middles were terrible today, no fight no care. May needs to start running hard and straight, he needs to be taken off and only play 60 mins
