I am a big fan of Laui but I just don't understand why he just doesn't activate the clause he has.
IMO he is clearly staying as he is not getting this kind of money elsewhere if we are being honest and the clubs seem to be doing all the right plays he wants etc..

Just getting this done now is just a positive for the club you are trying to build and take to the next step. It takes away all the negative unwanted media and show potential recruits that players want to be here.

Activating the clause means he's leaving, while doing nothing means he's staying. Sure, he could say he's removing the clauses, but I wouldn't count on it. The club could easily mess things up again, especially with the people at HBG still backstabbing each other and undermining corporate governance. Yes, we have an independent board, but they still hold seats and maintain influence. I know if I was in his position I would not remove them. He has repeatedly stated quite clearly that he is committed for the long haul and it would take the club screwing him and his family over for him to leave.

Hes plenty skilful, good short kicking game and has good pass selection, can put a player away well

We seem to be brain dead 10m out.
How often do you see other sides do a deft kick behind the defence and score. I have seen the NRLW side do it. But it should not be just one person given the job. Share it around. Call it for the runner to be aware it's on! And it's an angled kick, not straight out the back door. Practice it.

what excuses? .....has Luai not been very clear every time he is asked that he is committed for the long term? We are just buying into the media beat up by wringing our hands and stressing out about it. I'm more concerned about the Bula situation, yet at the same time if it doesn't work out there are options out there...based on current form he is not worth $900k in 2027...perhaps if he has a phenomenal 2026 he could be, however I trust Benji and Richo to know what his ceiling is. The reality is he has been playing first grade under Benji for 3 seasons now and I honestly can't say I have seen an improvement trajectory that I am overly excited about. Yes, he does make our attack look better...not $900k better. Reality is he is probably worth what we are paying him today $700 - $750k and that's taking his potential over the next 2 - 3yrs into consideration.

This is probably why the Bula issue is dragging on.

Yeah it’s as if as soon as the Nov1 clock starts they all get released from international duties so they can have 17 meetings and lock in their future.

Watch how many high quality players either re-sign with their current club or sign with a new club for 2027 onwards within a few weeks from November 1 which is now tomorrow.
Once there are no high quality players left for 2027 we become at the mercy of our own high quality players and will need to pay them whatever they ask for.
Richo would be fully aware of this and won’t leave it hanging for too much longer for this very reason.

The players have nothing to lose by signing with their clubs. The precedence has been set multiple times especially with us that ask for a release and you'll be granted.

And therein lies the problem Hal. Benji has already anounced his his long term halves plan and AD isn't part of it except as a backup. He may get a start there due to Latu's injury. We know he is not up to it as a centre or as a fullback. He isn't versatile enough to be a specialist 14, so where do you fit him in?

I even think Doueihi plays first receiver in attack like a traditional halfback, but with the number 13 on his back, so conceivably we have two 5/8ths, one for each side. So long as his defence holds up, that could be a winning formula and a way to get 3 halves on the field at the same time, playing to their strengths.

Any way to get Twal out of the starting side along with Seyfarth is a win. Neither are first graders and starters at any other team
