i have absolutely no mail on this
but i have a feeling that luai has signed with us and we are in day 3 or 4 of the 10 day clause

penrith looking to up their offer (imo means he has given them an answer)
That’s always a possibility. They do have the right ability to make another offer during the 10 day period. Idk why everyone is interpreting Penrith’s response as doom and gloom.

It matches up too. Tigers had a meeting (Benji, Fulton, CEO, etc) with Luai last Tuesday (28 December). That is 10 days to the 8th of December (this Friday) which is the reported date Luai wants his decision finalised as it is beginning of preseason. Today is the 7th day (one week since that meeting) and Penrith offered a increase in contract length yesterday (the 6th day). I hope this one doesn't drag out beyond this week

For those thinking we're already in a 10 day contract acceptance period, note the Penrith CEO said he was happy for negotiations to take as long as they need to, and that Panthers hadn't put any time frames to Luai that they want him to make a decision by.
Of course if Luai had accepted an offer then its him, not Panthers, putting this 10 day period into motion. But would he be saying that they're happy for negotiations to drag into the new year if he knew a deadline was already in place? I'm not so sure.... One hell of a smokescreen deflection if it is though
Penrith are the king of smokescreens. CEO literally made up the 1.4 million figure from a random club. They also have made some suspect comments about Jarome in the media. They are playing their cards close to their chest. It's also pretty easy to see they pushed Jarome to the least of their priorities resigning guys like Martin and Sorenson first who are less important position-wise but in the media they've made the narrative appear as if they don't have enough money (which they planned in the first place by putting Jarome behind)

isn't it all a little weird that all the updates regarding the Luai saga have now gone quiet in the last week and the only recent development is now Penrith upping the length of their deal?

seems there's been a club controlling the narrative the entire time and are now on borrowed time to get a deal done. that's not to say Luai has accepted our offer and we're in the ten day window, but if Penrith have been leaking everything out like it seems then maybe they are in real danger of losing him.

don't discount the Bulldogs in all this. they met with Luai a day after WT management did. while it could've been a meeting to 'gauge where he's at' as reported, there's also every chance that it is the complete opposite. Gus has a lot of journos on strings.

That he does, but their pockets aren't as
deep as ours. He met with us twice. I think
that he's already indicated his signing with
us, Cameron coming out the other day just
to appease the fans, this is their right of
reply but the shot clock has started I think.
I also suspect that he's made up his mind.
We should know in the next few days...

I know the Tigers made him an official offer and Gus has come out and said the dogs haven’t yet.

The Penrith club is loaded with money from their huge real estate investments plus a lot, lot more. If they make a huge offer to Luiai I would like the NRL to do their job and find out where that money is coming from. Scams are everywhere in the NRL and the NRL does nothing to stop these supposedly very illegal actions.
Only way you get caught is if there’s a whistleblower or you dob yourself in like Robbie and Justin did 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, I mean come on the dogs utility signing spree was all over the back page news before, during and after. They had a huge amount of talk prior to signing Critchton.
Your going to leave me to believe the Journalists have all decided to keep an offer to a marquee player under wraps for the dogs just coz Gus said so?

Yes and the fella on the other forum you were trying to get more info from has immediately gone quiet again.
Word is that’s their POM. Though a better strike rate.
But interesting the comment before his last set of comments was on Thursday evening saying no offer had been agreed to as yet. Then next evening he mentions that pending a change of heart Luai will be leaving, he has chosen his path.
To me that sounds like Penrith were given the heads up that they can counter with a change to their offer.

Better than dragging on and being led down the garden path to no where. Use the money to go after someone elee
It would be very Wests Tigers to let this go on and on just like happened with Moses THIS YEAR. I’m not for deadlines but a plan B needs to be in the pipeline and initiated as soon as we get a whiff we’re just being used to up the rent.

He was a signing out of the blue no one expected. Best signing since Scott Prince. I am talking Munster, Moses,
Trell
Nah

Look all kudos to Koroisau, he is a great player.

He was part of a team that got 17th. Sure I saw him really fight for our squad and just burrow deep. I also saw Klemmer put some effort in while Ice melted.

Gareth Ellis kicks his arse till Koroisau helps us make the 8th. It's sacriledge but even Ryan Matterson was a better dollar value signing (and one I am very glad we punted).

... Sadly I keep thinking back on our signings, Marty Taupau, Ellis. We have had a lot of Hype guys but not a lot of "wow these are great signings that have worked out". Loqi Tiquiri kinda worked for us, I never felt like he really reached his peak performance here.

We can say Koroisau has had great form and played well. Till our team starts winning again we can't say he is a great signing. I don't care how good a player is, they need to be able to help us win games.

The status quo is the plan b.

Assuming we would push for an early release we must have a way of freeing up around $1 million in the cap. We can’t legally play that far beneath the cap, so there should be alternative views on how to improve the roster by that dollar value.

They will likely relook at Olam or try and get AFB, if none of that happens they will just front load guys like we do every season.

Yep, front load players and sack the guy with the clipboard who’s hamstrung by those very decisions.
