Jarome Luai

Gus will be gaslighting behind the scenes no doubt about that he would enjoy the theatre if Luai knocked us back to sign with them.
Hopefully it doesnt come to that and Luai sticks to his word, but im not confident until the ink is dry on the contract. I hope this 10 day period hasnt just started and we are near the end or closer to the end, i think its a ridiculous amount of time considering you can thoroughly think things over before agreeing to terms with anyone.

I'm just hoping he has some morals and once he committed to us he honours this unless Panthers change his mind. If he says no to us and takes Dogs offer he will not have a very good rep out there IMO.
The NRL will amend this rule soon so it's just the 2 clubs once a player agrees.
Dogs would of spoke about money before he announce he was leaving so that is a load of rubbish.
This is what I think too. I actually think he is a man of integrity and would not F*** around Benji.

Thing is he would have decided this a week ago or longer. And he would have known what the Dogs verbal offer was, as well as what our formal offer was when he made up his mind.

It's not as if Luai accepted our offer with no idea what any other club would be willing to have offered. His agent would have spoken to all interested parties, gathered all information, gave it to Luai to then decide what he wanted to do. And he took all that in and chose us. And told family, friends and team mates he chose us.

Unless the Dogs suddenly offer an extra million or two I can't see him just changing his mind over a couple hundred k. And i'm also fairly sure Gus would have given Luai his best offer, or very close to it, to try and land him from the beginning rather than have him accept a rivals offer and then try get a backflip.
don't worry I'm pretty confident that the deal is done, but anyone who thinks Gould and Laundy won't have one final crack are kidding themselves. our offer is the biggest but I do wonder if Luai would get cold feet if the Dogs matched it given his relationships with multiple players at the club.

We also have Api and Staines with us who have played with Luai before, as well as him playing for his childhood idol who was the master at playing off the cuff....
I think this is a 50/50 shootout

Don't forget Brent Naden

After a formal heads of agreement (lol ) , then a third shouldn’t be able to enter the market for that player . That should have all happened prior to intention to sign .
Otherwise it pretty much undermines the whole process .
The easiest comparable would be American sports RFA . Which is basically the same thing . But once your decision is made it then becomes between 2 teams .
If other teams can enter after an intention to sign elsewhere has been lodged , well that’s a stupid loophole , and it needs to be closed .

Are you saying Luai would give up on his mates for a 8.3% pay rise?

They may very well be low gutted dogs and scumbags, or whatever 😂 but they appear to honour mutually beneficial long term relationship.

So you’re saying if there are say 5 clubs after Luai’s signature they should synchronise the lodging of their formal offers?

As someone else mentioned, much like the video ref and then bunker taking away tthat immediate excitement and being able to celebrate your team when theye scored a try....theyve screwed that so now we must wait and wait and you lose that moment

Same thing agin here with the week and a half BS, will he sign wont he sign...whens the 10 days start/finish...the NRL have ruined this exciting aspect of the game too

I heard from a close family member today who is good mates with a current Penrith player who was in the huddle with Jarome for his announcement yesterday morning at training that he told the team he’ll be leaving the club after the 2024 season and is going to the Wests Tigers.

I know that’s what was said yesterday by some reporters however I usually believe very little of what they write. I also became concerned myself when Jarome posted his cooling comments yesterday lunchtime.

I’m always sceptical myself with reading information like this as well so take it how you like however this puts my mind at ease.

Another odd bit is even though Jarome did tell them he’s all in for season 2024 with Penrith I wouldn’t be surprised to see him head across to us early next year. I believe there’s a slight possibility something could happen there, even though Penrith aren’t keen to release him early, apparently.

Anyway just thought I’d share what I heard 👍🏼🐯
Think Luai posted that story the other day because he doesn't want Penrith fans to get mad. It could turn into a media circus. It will be a huge story amongst Penrith fans. This guy has been at the very heart of their football-revolution. Jarome Luai is Penrith. Many of their fans will be sad to see him leave.
