I cant believe that we have signed both Tuqiri and Lima (as well as Cayless)….simply because it seems too good to be true.

Glenn

Glenn totally agree with you, if this is the case and it sounds like it is, we should never ever diss the recruitment department ever! **and sign Warren McDonnel (however yu spell) to a lifetime contract!**

can we highlight this post….. ????????

T-REXX… don't jump the gun mate.. i only said give him the lifetime contract IF we sign both Tuqiri and Lima, along with Cayless. Everyone is saying that Lima has signed and i believe them hopefully it does come off!

i know mate, but like every other year and every other person doing something good, when times get tough they want the person gone.. in 2 years IF we struggle to sign qulaity players people will ask for his head.. in 2005 after the GF nearly EVERYONE wanted Sheens signed for life…. now we go through a tough period and people want him sacked....

The place will fall apart without Sheens TBH.

A lot of the boys wouldn't be happy if he was to leave, especially Benji.

If Warren and the team have pulled this off, then there will be a huge humble pie on this forum(and other forums),because geez he has copped some stick.

I don't see why anyone would need to eat humble pie for criticising McDonnell and the rest of the club's past recruitment, retention and development decisions. Many of those criticisms were well deserved.

I won't eat humble pie for criticising in the past, but I will congratulate the effective decisions made in the present. (If they do pull these signings off that is)

This victory will not be Warrens, nor will it be his failure.

As I have stated countless times his job is not primarily linked to first grade. Whilst he has a part to play in the negotiation process him major function is identifying talent and placing them in development pathways with the club.

As CT rightly pointed out the success of the Under 20's this season is, in a large way, the success of Warren's programs and choices

Exctly right colonel, hopefully they are getting their act together but that does not change the past, if criticism in the past was warranted any improvement in this area doesnt absolve past innefficiencies, just glad their finally getting some good names…but as Smeg points out, Macca is primarily involved in juniors....I'd guess with established first grader and top liners its all done between the players managers - club ceo's - and head coaches.

Colonel and Ink are right. This doesnt vindicate past actions. But the signs have been there this past 12 months that this club is heading in the right direction. Its great to see good management at the top.

Stop talking like that. Commonsense will never prevail

And what would i know… I have NFI.

But you can give me a lifetime contract to this forum if Lima signs, as i have been working extremely hard to get him home since 2006\.

 That is true CT it began behind the Sheds at Shark Park if memory serves me correctly

Stop being silly. Check the dates on the posts you're quoting and then read more recent posts than that. Them saying that coincided with someone on here claiming it. It's all Chinese whispers. The only official word I've heard at all is Jeff Lima scoffing at the suggestions.

The official word is Melbourne admitting they will struggle to keep him, pending on what happens with other contracts. Craig bellamy was on camera on channel 9 saying this, and that its an awkward situation to be in.

We might as well keep the pressure on whilst this situation is precarious.
