The sharks have one of the better forward packs in the game so it kind of renders that argument ineffective.
Our forwards don't get dominated as often as people think.
Depth is the obvious issue, but injuries ruin every team.

I've been up in Sydney with Arana Taumata and he said that Lima's basically off to the Tiges, their holding on with the announcement until after the grand final in order to unsettle the Storm boys and keep the focus on the team as a whole.
He's a loss for us but with all our young forwards coming through, its the right decision for him and the club.

Haha yeah, its interesting to note though that AJ said that at the Tigers training there was mucking around which took him by suprise at first because he wasnt used to it in Melbourne.
May explain why we are going for our 4th GF and the Tiges are left to ask what happened to their year again lol.

GRAND FINAL prop Jeff Lima could play his final match for Melbourne in tomorrow's premiership decider - with the Kiwis international in negotiations with his former club Wests Tigers about a release from his contract.
Lima is believed to be close to securing a deal with the Tigers, but a deal will not be officially done until after the grand final against Parramatta, Lima's third with the club.
Salary cap pressures are a constant problem for the Storm, and while Lima is contracted to the club until the end of 2011, Storm officials did not deny yesterday that a deal between the 27-year-old and the Tigers would be done.
The Tigers are also in negotiations with Jason Cayless, the brother of Eels skipper Nathan, about a return to the NRL. Cayless is returning to Australia after a stint with St Helens.
If the Tigers cannot secure Lima, they are expected to opt for Cayless, another New Zealand Test player.
Tigers officials are believed to have approached their Melbourne counterparts about the prospect of releasing Lima, but agreed that nothing official would happen until after the decider.
''We have made an inquiry, that we would be interested if Melbourne and Jeff were interested, but we respect the fact that he's in a grand final campaign, and we'll pick that up next week, see if there's anything there,'' a Tigers source said.
The development will add more intrigue to the grand final, with the futures of several Parramatta players, including their own Test prop Fuifui Moimoi, as well as halfback Jeff Robson, still up in the air.
Lima only signed a three-year deal midway through last season after being heavily courted by the Bulldogs. He made his first-grade debut with the Tigers in 2004.

I said something like…......................maybe i am wrong, but i do know what i heard and Robson was talking about how happy he is to be staying at Parra next year. Maybe he hasnt signed on the dotted line, who knows, but he was did say he was staying.

Frankly Lima is surplus to Bellamy's requirements at Storm,& he HAS to offload him to get close to salary cap.
Hes at best the 4th ranked prop down there,& with a couple of big boppers coming thru the lower grades he's got to go.
Bellamy has shown he can identify & manufacture guys in this position(eg Ryan Tandy)to play at this level fairly quickly,something we certainly cant do,so he doesnt have to spend big $$ to retain solid 1st graders like Lima.
The intersesting point in that comment is Bellamy was a back,yet both our coaches were front rowers..I dont understand it either.
Limas nothing special,but is a solid 1st grade prop with a little bit of size ,reasonable work rate & low mistake rate ,which is exactly what we need .

Melbourne Storm set to escape ravages of salary cap in 2010

October 06, 2009 Melbourne Storm are set to escape the ravages of the salary cap, going into the 2010 season with almost the same team that won the grand final on Sunday.
In the past the Storm has had huge problems keeping their stable of stars under the cap, losing six players after their grand final appearance last year and three after they won the title in 2007.
But this year coach Craig Bellamy may farewell only two top players, winger Steve Turner and centre Will Chambers.
"We'll have a bit more settled side," Bellamy said on Monday before flying home to a hero's welcome from fans at Princes Park in Melbourne.
"Obviously, Steve Turner and Will are going. They'll be a huge loss and we'll lose a couple of other guys too.
"But they're the only two we're losing from the grand final team."
**Forward Jeff Lima, who was named in the New Zealand Test squad on Monday, could be the third. South Sydney and more recently Wests Tigers are chasing the 27-year-old, but he's keen to stay.\

"I've got two more years down at the Storm so I'm not going anywhere. I'm happy here," Lima said.\

And Bellamy will be doing whatever he can to keep Lima.\

"I've talked to Jeff and he doesn't want to go anywhere, so I'm not quite sure where that's coming from," Bellamy said.**
The only other possible departure to concern Bellamy is his assistant coach, Michael Maguire, who is in line to coach Wigan in England's Super League.
He has Bellamy's blessing to go.
"Michael will certainly go if he can get a visa," Bellamy said.
"He's done a great job for us … been there five years now. He's a very talented coach and thinks he's ready for a head-coaching job. And I think he is too."
With a limited amount of tinkering with personnel, Bellamy will again build his 2010 campaign around the Storm's backbone of hooker Cameron Smith, halfback Cooper Cronk and fullback Billy Slater. All three are signed until the end of 2013, while superstar centre Greg Inglis is locked in until 2012.
The departure of Turner leaves five players that have appeared for Melbourne in the past four grand finals - and then there is Smith and Ryan Hoffman who only missed last year's decider due to suspension and injury.
"Certainly, the guys on long-term deals are very important to the team. They are our key position players but also they want to be successful," Bellamy said.
"It's really important those guys are tied up for a big period of time so we can build the other blocks around them."
Bellamy said the competitive nature of the Storm's core group was the reason the team had stayed at the top for so long. And he claimed it was not the salary cap but the failure of key players to keep working hard that cost such teams as Wests Tigers and the Bulldogs to miss the finals the year after winning a premiership.
"There's obviously stages where it (the salary cap) hits you that hard, where you can't win the competition or can't make the top four," Bellamy said.
"But if you're thinking that way, you're not going to either.
"That's the point. It weakens you but if you start limiting yourself to that mentality, you'll live with that expectation on your team."
The players themselves said they enjoyed being immersed in Melbourne's hard-work ethic and the high standards the club demanded.
"I don't think it's a matter of trying to find the hunger. Craig has got an ability to keep everyone focused and keep us working hard," prop Brett White said.
"If we keep doing that, hopefully we'll be here again."
The commitment to reach a fifth straight grand final seemed obvious when the Storm players trudged out to the middle of an empty ANZ Stadium on Sunday night with an Esky and the NRL trophy in hand.
They formed a huddle, arms wrapped around each other, and sang the team song.
Were they already making a pact for 2010?
"We didn't say too much. Smithy spoke well. I don't want to go into the detail of what he said, but he basically told us to look around and suck it up," Cronk said.
"If you're willing to do the hard work, all things are possible.

we will have to wait and see if in fact Jeff Lima does comes to wests-tigers or if its a smoke screen to take away questions being asked why wests-tigers failed again to make top 8.
I am beginning to think its more a case of the latter.

It seems highly unlikely that Lima is NOT in talks with Wests Tigers, actually it is pretty much undeniable. You would have to wonder why someone who is "definitely staying for the next 2 years" would be in talks with any other club.
I think you will find Lima is trying to enjoy his moment in the sun with Melbourne's victory - and that is fair enough. Reality is probably that Melbourne can't keep him and stay under the cap, and will decide to release him when celebrations die down.

I dont see Lima coming and im suprised so many people remain so optimistic when for the 2nd time he comes out and say hes not going anywhere.
Never has there been a quote from Lima saying he wants to come,a nd most speculation never has a quote.
All the theories that hes trying to hide it as a smoke screen seem stupid, I dont see why he wouldnt be honest with a club thats treated him well and that he has done well for.
Imaging one of our guys, after we won the grand final, came out and said im not going, im not going then you read the paper the next day and see hes signed elsewhere. (and if anyone brings up prince and laffranchi they were very honest about everything).
I really dont see him coming.
