To me it shows a lack of balance with our recruitments.

At prop, the prospects we have: Tuipolutu, Tofaeono, Sukkar, Miller, Faagatu.
And at lock theres Laulilii as well, though faagatu played most of his schoolboys as a lock/second row and only moved to prop after joining us. Nicholas has done a decent job but i don't see him having the size to progress as a lock.

Yet second row prospects are pretty blank. Maybe eventually Galvin if he can put on weight. Zac Clarke will progress to Flegg maybe next year too. Most likely is we'll need to start transitioning Tuipolutu to second row, he has the athletecism for it too (but not 80 mins at this stage) and possibly Faagatu too.

Towards the end of the season we may see a pack in Flegg of

Sukkar
Da Silva
Miller
Tuipolutu
Faagatu
Laulilii

with Herman off the bench for impact, and Nicholas for enthusiasm/work rate. Vaihu may get a run off the bench

Now that's a pack full of size, power and skill and gives all our prospects the game time we need. With a few rotations, and some possible promotions to NSW Cup along the way (Da Silva, Laulilii and Faagatu the most likely)
Thanks for that. I just wanted to see what we were doing with him seeing as we've been seeing a few of the kids debuting that were part of that Schoolboys team last year alongside him (Oloapu, Kini, etc.) I know we have something in store but was a bit worried after he didn't get picked last game

At centre we have Feledy who's in the right place, right time and has a knack for scoring tries from 5m out, but he needs to show more. A bit concerning if he can't score a try from 20m out or further out. Given how short he is and question marks on his speed, hopefully we start seeing more of him as we get new halves in who can hopefully get the ball to the backs better.

Saukuru is probably currenlty the best centre prospect at and he should be playing flegg ASAP. Tall, strong, fast and skillful. A centre pairing of Feledy and Saukuru would show we are building towards the future, not wasting time on those who've already reached their peak. Maybe a bit harsh, but we need to be more ruthless to get the best out of our juniors. The best players should be playing regardless of age!
Fuatimau, Delle, Kirk and to a lesser extent Peni and Vaihu should be dropped and made to fight for their spots, se how they handle the adversity and whether they can kick on.
Will be good to see Matai get more game time and see if he can really unlock Feledy. His Manly career had seen him playing outside Fainu who is real quality. Unfortunately I don't think he was getting that same type of ball from our halves early this year. Still a great prospect and hopefully see his rise up the grades continue.

With Saukuru....I agree. Get him in and give him experience. He has the potential to break a game open and could be a real asset if developed properly.

Zane to FB and new bloke Matai to 6 and keep Tannous in halves but moved to 7.
Looks like a decision has been made there then?

And the captain dropped to the bench?

agree for the most part, but I think Fa’agutu remains a middle forward. has played between back row and lock for a little while up in QLD but the fact that he was named as a middle in SG Ball and played thru the middle in the trial makes me think that’s where the club has him pencilled in.

Sukkar is the one that’s probably the one with a little more ability to move to the back row. has already played a couple games there for Flegg. would likely switch those two. seeing big Johnny move to the back row would be interesting, but as you said he could certainly handle it, question is whether he possesses the ability to run lines and read defences.

Anybody know what's doing with Miller is he injured?

Honestly that starting pack is beyond comprehension. The weakest pack we could possibly name at this stage. When we're up against an extremely strong opponent. Realistically no first grade prospects there, a bunch of plodders being rewarded for taking part in preseason. Lolesio is ok, but the rest will probably never play higher than Flegg.

We must have a lot of injuries, but at least the bench is strong.

Jackson Owen surprised me when they played Manly a few weeks back. Was really strong. Havent seen or heard much about him outside of that game though, so unable to say if it was a 1 off performance or not.

Should have Lolesio and Nielsen out. Lomi Saukuru to 2nd row and then you can bring in 2 players out of Tuipolotu/Miller/Laulili'i to cover middles....providing they arent injured.

Having Ghantous come across is still confusing with Nicholas, Da Silva (who will surely own that spot soon enough) and Tannous for cover.

I think they're managing the workloads of the Wests SG boys. obviously Tallyn has been involved in every game but Miller, Laulili'i and Fa'agutu have all had issues with injury through the year so its about ensuring that their bodies hold up.

keep in mind they've basically been playing consistent footy since early Feb and they're probably going to be playing til early September. if they miss a couple games here and there it's no major issue, its all about management and ensuring they can develop as best as possible without being hampered by injury.

Watched him in the Sydney v Country game. He was on the bench and didn't get a lot of game time. Was good when he was on , hard to stop but he looked like he was carrying a lot of baby fat---overweight! Only young but a long way to go to get match fit for an extended stint on the paddock. My observations only.

Nonsense.
While of course he still has a lot to work on and needs to tone up over a preseason or two, there aren't many props who can play 50 mins straight at any level. The fact he could often go a whole match with limited time off the field in Matts and also often in Ball while still being one of the best in ground shows he's got a very good engine. He's very much got a Payne Haas build and style.

He needs to keep improving as he moves up grades but he's certainly by no means unfit.

I thought more like Arthur Beetson when he first arrived at Balmain.

Is it injury (hope not, but also hope so in a way) gutless coaching or just pathetic junior development that cuts da Silva from the squad, puts Camroux back at half, Matai to the bench, peni at fullback.

We are a horrible football club
