OFFICIAL Jersey Flegg Cup

Not sure if it will be this week or start over a few rounds but expect the top 5-6 players from ball to be playing flegg soon. it's hard to balance development with those who've trained all pre-season with the squad and been playing the first 6 weeks to just cut them completely.

But still the best players need to play, can't keep lesser talented players just not to upset them. But then again this is WT so maybe they prioritise keeping poor players happy rather than selecting players on their merits...
I reckon Tallyn and maybe Kit/Solomone get a run this week. Not like our Flegg team are undefeated at the moment, so they should be open to a bit of change. Will be at the game this week, so hoping to see a few ins!

just awful. 3 players with first grade prospects.

Bring on the sg ball boys ASAP

Maybe #14 and #16?

If not, hopefully next week if they're giving them a week off after SG Ball season finished.
Yeah possibly though you’d think 1 or 2 weeks off would be wise. Junior reps obvs start very early on - would be insanely long season for someone that age to do whole ball season than whole flegg season.

Who are the 3 you think @balmain boy ? Feledy, Sukkar & Tofaeono?
Feledy, Tofaeono and Tuipolutu are the ones that I see having the potential to step up and make a difference in higher grades.
Sukkar is a maybe, there's just nothing about that screams quality though. He's like a Seyfarth, works hard and could maybe do a job, but does he help us win matches, no. You always need some solid workhorses, but we typically have heaps of these players but no one who can break the line or make a big hit.

Tofaeono has junior paulo vibes, and the 40m try he scored last week supporting through the middle and palming off opponents. Only against flegg opponents sure, but it's a skillset most of our forwards don't have. Same for Tuipolutu, the ability to run straight and hard and skittle opponents is not something our props in NSW cup or NRL have.

They both have work on fitness, discipline, defence and focus, like all youngsters but they've got the raw ability to stand out and make a difference, which is what we need..!

Cayne Nicholas is the other one for me who might be a chance. Seen him play a few games and he has impressed me. Biggest problem is where will he end up playing....hooker/lock/2nd row. Guess it depends how his body fills out. Must have some leadership qualities too, as he went from SG Ball captain in 2022 to being the captain this week in Jersey Flegg.

Still hoping for a couple of late Wests SG Ball inclusions into this team for Sunday.

Watched the game against the Eels at Lidcombe, and totally agree with your assessment.
Tofaeono's try was great, showed speed as well. Tuipuloto is tall, lean and potential to get bigger and better. Feledy is in the mix but i need to see more of him to be convinced he is NRL quality. I thought Mitchell Chester, ex. Penrith half, went OK for his first game with us as well.

PS. Can't believe Fuatimau is the new fullback? He let in about 3 tries with arm tackles playing in the centres and I thought Trey Peni went OK at fullback

The club is off Peni.

Did the pre-season with the NRL squad, played in the first NRL trial game, and now can't even make the Flegg side.

Not sure if an attitude thing but he's been poor in the Flegg games I've seen him play this year.

Solid at that level.

For the most part, he's pretty reliable and a good finisher.

Don't see him as a future NRL prospect though.
He’s tall, fast, seems to be good under the high ball and seems to have a decent footy IQ which a lot of wingers lack.
If his body fills out a bit which should happen with age and he can possibly then have stronger and better carries out of the danger zone, he could be a chance of kicking on.
For someone with his slight physique he has to get himself running the ball and defending very aggressively.

@KingRobbie which of the Wests SGball boys are still finishing year 12? Would that have an impact in playing consistently in the Flegg team and not in and out on occasion.
Actually do you have the details / ages of the SG boys that are on the NRL Train and trial deals?

Remember Benji was still at high school when he debuted in the NRL. School is a hindrance but not an immovable obstacle for playing footy

He's just average. Not fast, strong, evasive. Can't see him going higher than flegg anytime soon, the fact he was training with first grade is a worry though he was Captain at keebra and a mainstay there yet Bula was fringe and has truly overtaken him
