It's a triplets header this weekend so there's a chance non playing reserves drop down a grade to get experience which could also have a trickle down impact to flegg too.

If you want to watch 3 grades in a day this will be one of your few opportunities this season

Apparently no one watched our boys today?
It was a very poor match, both teams were very poor. No one deserved to win so the draw was fair.

With an already incredibly weakened side it got tougher for us with Nicolas going off injured after 12 minutes and for some unknown reason the coach decided to move his best player out of position with Brooks going to right centre and Sonny Edwards moeke going to fullback.

After that our spine was terrible. Absolutely no direction, no game plan or strategy. Just improvising for 70 minutes.

Pritchard was somewhat solid in his running game but neither he nor half Smith are playmakers or organisers and without Haywood the team has nothing in attack but a few barge over tries. Same goes for Souths.

I'll take but losing and hopefully this team gets some decent players back soon and for goodness sake don't ever move your best player, under any circumstances. Brooks barely touched the ball but his goal kicking was good.

The props were ok. Both teams completed at about 50-60% which made for the low quality albeit close game.

I can’t add too much to that other than I liked the first look of our new recruit in centre / 5/8 or fullback Ryder Huth. He started at centre, didn’t get much opportunity and was moved out of position to the wing with our winger injured early in the game, but he looked to move well and has an ideal tall, rangy frame to work with.
Our other new recruit who started as our our right edge second rower who I think is ex Warriors also carried the ball very strongly.
Similar to our NRL team, this team had no trouble making good yardage, but they did struggle at times defensively.
Archie Duncombe continues to look progressive, Xavier Tauaifaiga at centre and Luani Tuifua as our interchange prop both continue to demonstrate powerful ball running and lock Jeremiah Leatigaga is a decent enough ball playing 13 who might be able to show our current NRL halves a thing or two about an effective short kicking game.

Not much to add either. Thought Heith Pritchard was our best, always lively in attack, scored a try showing strength & determination to bely his size and then set up our final try for Huth with a nice grubber behind the line. Our hooker ex Warriors Filipi-Talisau was also strong in defence, excellent in effort areas, and good service from dummy half.

Game we should have won. Overall a good team performance built on defence and having to adapt to winger Jack Nicholas going off early meaning quite a reshuffle on our right side. Logan Brookes is the class in this team but there are a number who could make the jump to seniors in future years if they continue to grow, improve & stay committed ... Duncombe, Laupepa, Tuifua & Leatigaga amongst others.

Gritty win by the Flegg boys yesterday in NZ. Came back from being down twice by 10 points or so to secure the dub.

This team's strength lies in the forward pack imo and particularly in defence with their first contact & line speed. Huge huge huge game from Archie Duncombe, my MOM by a margin. Puts on great contact in D and just carts the ball up strong all day.

His starting front row partner Sione Lolohea was also strong in his 2 stints as was Taupau-Moors to a lesser extent and showed great strength to score the match sealing try with 4 or 5 men on him.

Logan Brookes had some awesome moments particularly in attack to score, set up a try and put in a grubber under pressure which winger Partch pounced on to score. Made some good tackles but made a poor attempt 1-on-1 early on for Wahs first try.

Kudos to our halves Bailey Smith & Heith Pritchard. Pritchard has had a wonderful start to the season and once again had a try assist and backed up nicely to score one too. Smith had a poor start to the game especially in defence but produced 2 or 3 crucial plays in the final 15-20 mins which got us back in the game & then lead.

We have some weakness in the outside backs at this level atm, both sides of the park (missing Nicholas & Craig and Max Taotua promoted to Cup), but that is countered by our spine & forward pack who have been huge.

Onwards & upwards!

We need to get Archie Duncombe on some sort of deal for the next couple of years, otherwise another club will.
As you said Sione Lolohea was also very strong and has been for each of our games so far this season and it was good to see Christian TaupsuTaupau-Moors look much better than he did throughout the SG Ball season.
Some promise in our forwards sticks and Logan Brookes continues to impress, but no centres or wingers really standing out and that’s the positions we need the most.

I think Archie is the type of mobile hard working prop who Benji would love in the system - leadership material, loves defence and contact & just works his arse off.

I think our outside back stocks in this grade took a hit with the injuries to Jack Nicholas & Will Craig last week and Max Taotua moving up to NSW Cup. Not sure where Riley Oitmann is atm, must have an injury too, as I reckon he would have got a call up on the wing.

Godinet was also strong in his runs making some good PCMs and i reckon he'll form a better combo with the halves in this grade than in Ball.

It was a good win by a Shane Sultana side. All in all our was even a pretty weak side. Backs are severely lacking. Halves and hooker are ok, both halves are runners and no one organises or has a good kicking game really. 4 tries between the halves is huge, Pritchard's support play and anticipation is very good, Smith was pretty quiet but sliced their defence open to start our final comeback push.

Pack is solid. As BWG said Duncombe is the standout at this age group. Fit, strong, good work ethic and skillset. Put him on a development contract soon. He's a long way ahead of the likes of CTM and Godinet currently, albeit a year older. Both still largely played like they did in ball to me, not very involved, CTM made a few errors with ball in hand, defence was better. Godinet took maybe 2-3 runs all match and was ok in defence, but overall just not good enough for someone of his promise. He had a shocking effort on the line to let the Wahs hooker just dive over. I'd drop him back to Ball this week, or Ron Massey. He needs a kick up the ass big time.

Logan Deininger was easily our most dangerous player, getting a lot more involved with his passing and kicking game too now, not just his running ability. Goal kicking is improving too.

A solid team win with few standouts.
