OFFICIAL Jersey Flegg Cup

I feel the best NRL prospects we have in this week's JF team are Glassie Glassie, Jack Attard, Archie Duncombe, Christian Taupau-Moors, Siotame Havea Jr, Filipe Huahulu & Pheonix Godinet, but they all are lacking in an area of the game or physical characteristic to be extremely confident of making it.

Probably the 2 that stand out to me as our most likely are Glassie Glassie & Archie Duncombe. Glassie just has that concentration lapse in him otherwise a stand out for me. Archie, purely his work ethic, effort areas, stand-out leadership & I think he can further develop his body (so much reminds me of Tyson Frizell even in his running style).
I liken Archie Duncombe to Josh King at Melbourne Storm which may be a bit underwhelming for some, but Craig Bellamy has had good reason to include Josh Kiing as a regular in his NRL team for the past 4 to 5 seasons.
Archie also probably has better natural ball playing ability than Josh King.

Been caught up with work and only just watched the replay of our Jersey Flegg game last night.

As someone mentioned in another thread, this team is replicating the performance of our NRL team this past month.

Slow out of the blocks then get back into the contest late in 1st half & early 2nd half (were only 10 points down at 45 mins and looking stronger) then we gift them field position, try & floodgates open.

My man Mitch Taotua was the shining light with some strong carries, silky skills for a backrower, good speed on a break-away and good kick chases. Gave away a crucial discipline penalty but at least he was showing passion & aggression standing up to a few Dogs, and fatigue led to a poor defensive decision late, but I still rate him our best backrow prospect coming up.

Glassie Glassie & Jack Attard had moments of class but the Bulldogs have unearthed a tall, big, fast skilful winger Chelden Haywood who burnt Glassie who is pretty quick himself.

Unfortunately Matthew Barakat has yet to gel with this team. I'll give him credit, he's on-the-ball a lot & has a running game but his passing has been poor to hole runners especially. The Bailey Smith & Sonny Edwards-Moeke halves combo is being severely missed at this level due to Attard's developmental shift to 5/8 and the incoming Barakat.

All last year and in the early rounds this year we had Jeremiah Leatigaga playing very well as a 1st receiver style of 13 which often created time and space for his halves and fullback and he also brought his other forwards onto the ball well.
Jack Nicholas and Ryder Huth have both shown good signs and had done good games, likewise Riley Oittnan, Jack Biiles and Luuani Tuifua.
I have no idea why the coach woukd revamp a winning formula and no longer be playing players who have shown they can get the job done?
I know Shane Sultana has a good record while coaching our teams over the past few years, but some of his recent team selections are more puzzling than Benji’s.
Nicholas made one poor missed tackles the previous week, but his backfield ball carries were strong and he is a genuine aerial threat with his height.
Surely he comes back in and surely Bailey Smith comes back in.

Good points. I get the feeling a lot of selection decisions are directives from above Shane for the development & opportunity for players. Hence trying to develop Attard in more than one position, giving Brookes reps at the back, Havea Jr getting reps and rotating through players so the club can get a feel for as many as on the books in Flegg (example, Nicholas in for a couple of weeks, Huahulu in for the next couple of weeks). That's my take.

I hope you are right, as I have a feeling it is more Sultana wielding the axe on wrong players far too often.
Regardless of the results and his overall performance individually, I am getting more and more impressed each time I watch Attard play.
Someone I know who is close to the playing squad told me at the start of the year that Attard is a freak athlete with untapped ability and I think he is right.

Attard has the potential, but does not to be rushed.

To be fair though there’s 2 sg ball teams with squads of 25 , another 25 and then some of u21s , that’s potentially at least 75 kids who may be trying to get a look in for flegg . .
