Joey Leilua #226

Showed enthusiasm today, which is a start.

Statistically he wasn't too bad. Ran for over 100m, 3 offloads, 12 tackles (1 missed,) 1 linebreak and 6 tackle breaks and three errors.

Still looks short of a gallop though, one of his better games for us which isn't a glowing endorsement.

Best game since the Warriors trial in 2020 ...that is scary

I like BJ when he's playing well.

Unfortunately its to uncommon to retain on current salary.

Agreed- 3/4 games like that this month and hopefully four wins; he should be re-signed

It was a good try - much like he use to score against us. The run that nearly sent Douehi over was full of energy - fingers crossed that he has finally woken up but not holding my breath.

BJ has not been consistent for a few years even before landing at the Tigers.

My greatest concern at present is alienating Luciano by not resigning BJ regardless of his performance.

Wouldn't it be great for BJ to really dominate.

You cant sign 1 person just to keep his brother happy.Hopefully BJ continues his performance from last week

Certainly shouldnt, I agree.

But what price to you pay to keep one of our most engaged players in Luch???

He was OK. About what we should be able to expect from him week in and week out. The fact that so many are gushing his praises says more about his recent form than this last game.

He’s still an X factor when on song

But his worst games and good games are poles apart...that’s his issue. He either plays good or very poor

We need to get him isolated 1 on 1 with defenders more often... he brushed off Jack Bird easily and he is no slouch in defense

If Sami is playing centre for titans this week we need to put Joey up against him, he's an awful defender.

My concern is Titans back line 1-5 are all fast. We struggle with containing speedy opposition

Also Anthony Donn always plays like a god against us ?

It'll be an interesting clash. Both teams struggle to defend but can score points if they're feeling it. All gonna come down to effort in defence and line speed I think, we can't give them any room. If we can win then we've got knights week after which is definitely winnable so really big game this week.

Are you kidding? He was pretty rubbish on sunday. Mistimed his runs repeatedly, made little impact in attack or defence. He did run a good decoy for Cini's try but otherwise he was crap. Brain dead plays resulting in going into touch.

I do think a number of his errors were down to trying too hard though. But give him a month to show what he's got and if he's still at the same level then drop him to nsw cup and plan for the future.

If we use BJ more often like that ... give him some early ball with room to move outside he'll make more runs over the opposition centres .. use him correctly close to line having players in motion .. Doueihi / Brooks with the ball .. say Laurie coming back against run then popping the ball wide to BJ he'll score more often .. !!

With Talau out .. is JTJ available or is this PEC muscle issue more serious than reported .. ?? If JTJ is out, Mbye to centres, Liddle to the bench.

Jimmy out for a month, which is a good thing I think

Sucked apart from flopping over the line. Still his best game for us. I hope he can keep his spot. He has so much potential when he is actually committed. Oporto is his top priority though ...

Flopped over the line? At least be fair

Tripped or skipped? He did lay a lazy palm but he was over without effort

He brushed off Bird. He looked good today

It was Laurie who straightened up his line of attack and that caused Bird to hold which in turn created room for Bj to run around the outside of Bird
If Laurie continues to Slide I don't think we score

Seriously? He didn’t run outside Bird... he ran straight over top of him using his shoulder to knock him out of the way. Credit where it’s due.

He'd be stupid not to. Hopefully has learned his lesson. He wouldn't want another dose in reserves.

You call that straight over the top ?
Have another look

If Luch is dictating terms (i.e. threatening to leave if his brother isn't re-signed), then he isn't worth having around. How long would he hold us to ransom despite Joey's form? Hopefully BJ gains some consistency, but unfortunately the lack of this is his worst attribute.
