Why would you even blow your chance i say, especially getting the luxurious opportunity in playing alongside your brother. That doesn't happen too often in the NRL imo.

Yep he’s right. It was Madge’s fault he was a fat useless heap. Maguire force fed him Oportos and made him miss his tackles.

Must have been embarrassing for him that they took a mid 20s centre with no first grade experience to QLD ahead of him.

BJ good player on his day but everywhere he went there were issues.
Madge signed him remember and it was also Madge that cut hom lose.
I still remember him getting suspended for a numbder of games then after that all downhill.
All the best to whatever unfolds but as a supporter glad he was not resigned.

Poor BJ. He was never the same after the firecracker went off in his eye.

Think age has caught up on him too.

When god was giving out brains he ordered a Bondi burger.

Leilua fighting for family and his future

Off contract and out of favour, fallen NRL star Joey Leilua candidly admits he'll be fighting for his future and his family when he makes his professional boxing debut next month.

Leilua will joust with retired dual premiership winner Chris Heighington in Newcastle on December 10.

The 29-year-old concedes he's stepping out of his comfort zone, even against a rival 10 years his senior and who is also debuting as a fighter.

"I only started training four weeks ago," Leilua told AAP on Monday.

"It's pretty tough. Never done boxing in my life.

"But I'm excited. I can't wait."

Not wanted at Wests Tigers after a turbulent, ill-disciplined two-season stint at Concord, the Samoan international and one-time NSW State of Origin candidate has little choice but to fight.

The 29-year-old now has a third child to feed following the birth five weeks ago of daughter Lyra, a baby sister to brothers Leonidas and LaDainian.

"It's all happening," Leilua said.

"I got the text asking to fight around the same time as she was born.

"So I took it and I'm taking this fight seriously, keeping my focus on this fight only and then whatever comes after that, I'll do."

Leilua said he was considering a couple of offers but wanted to keep them "low key".

"Footy's my passion still, oh yeah," the destructive centre said.

"Hopefully with this fight I can get in there and show everybody that I'm fit and ready to go."

But with his mother Aranata needing kidney dialysis, the self-confessed "mummy's boy" said he was reluctant to leave Australia.

"My mum's unwell. She doesn't want me to go," he said.

"So I'm still considering what to do but she plays a massive part in it because we don't know how long (she has)."

"But if an opportunity arises overseas, I've got to do what I've got to do and hopefully I would bring my mum over."

Wow!

"Plenty of things wrong at that club" - B J Leilua (2021)

" One less thing wrong now that you have gone, you fat ...." - Swordy (2021)

Talk about destroying your career he had at least 2 seasons left at a high level earning big $ .. last night he said he would play for 1k a week.
Interesting thought process that one only one person to blame here !

guy is a flogbag. Always has been. Gave his attitude the benefit of the doubt when he came to us but unfortunately only reinforced it. Go Rhino!!!!

To be fair to Joey, turning 12 year olds is a difficult period?

It is a bit late now. He had the chance to show his ability and if he has done the right thing every club would want a piece of him. However he displayed poor attitudes, now he is paying for it.

But if I seem to be confused
I didn't mean to be with you
And when you said I scared you
Well I guess you scared me too
But we got lucky once before
And I don't want to close the door
And if you're somewhere out there
Passed out on the Oporto floor
Oh Joey, you’re not hangry anymore

BJ is getting far to much air time on this forum let's hope Heino gives him a lesson on being a WT'S really means when they met in the ring
