John Bateman #268

What is it about Bateman that makes him ineffective? You would think smaller more mobile forwards would be better in games nowadays?

He isn't ineffective- playing for a crap team can make you look that way sometimes but we were a better team especially defensively with him this year.

If he is coming back, it will give us four that definitely don't like losing in any way. i.e. Luai, Bird, Seyfarth and Bateman. Hopefully they can influence others.

It did effect us though.

We need Bateman, because we have just lost so SO many people in the front row. i.e. Stefano, Papalii... Oh man.

1st week of Jan, not too much problem. Second week of Jan, ok we deal with it. Later then that it's a big drama. We need to establish a training rhythm and flow.

If we can offload Bateman for anyone that would be great. Likely though we are stuck with him and we need him. ... Boy our forwards have gone from IMHO if not in the top 10, top 12 to.... far far lower.

I think finzo he's only coming back for 600k roll
 
Whether he comes back or not isnt the issue as far as Im concerned. Doesnt want to come back? Fine, we agree on a payout and bye bye. Comes back, fine. The issue for me is if he is coming back he has to be here at the start of training and have a full preseason with WT. He has not yet done that in 2 seasons!!!!!!!!!!! Each season he has been slow 'catching up' due to this. We are the cellar dwellers WT management- we need all hands on deck for the preseason. If he doesnt want to come back for the preseason and wants to take leave due to the differing seasons ESL / NRL - bad luck, come back. If its written in his contract (and I reckon it is, WT seek now to vary the contract and if he doesnt agree- thats the additional trigger to pay him out and bye.

How ridiculous - saying we should break his contract because he is following it. Would make us even more of a laughing stock and no player would ever sign with us

I dont care playing nice guy anymore- we need him (if he wants to come back) to come back for the preseason or most of it. We\re going to have to pay him out anyway.

Agreed. If he doesn't want to come back and is using it as a negotiation tactic, call the BS and make him play till he doesn't want to play anymore.

I'd love for him to refind the vigor and have a good season or two for us... whether he's capable of it or not I don't know.
