He is contracted here for 2 more years yet all the talk on this forum is let’s get rid of him no matter what it costs us. Bloody stupid. We have far bigger problems.
He is experienced and one of the only players we have with any mongrel in them. He wasn’t great this year but the narrative concerning him is exaggerated to the shithouse.

He blew up at the coach in front of the players. It doesn't exactly support your point about his experience being a positive influence. If he goes, we won't miss him.
 
Bateman has been trying too hard and also seems like a frustrated player. He watches all the crap mediocrity around him and tries to come up with something that's not on and it goes wrong.

He needs to play a simple game. He actually runs really intelligent lines when he's doing that and through that gets decent speed in the play the ball. He also is good defensively and his line speed is near the best in the team. Along with that he's got agro and seems to care. All are really good traits, and characteristics we're really lacking in. Needs to cut out the late tackle penalties and the stupid errors that have plagued him since joining us.

I'd prefer him back and competing rather than paying significant money to have him go elsewhere even though we're short of depth in the forwards.

Not sure if any club has come out and directly said a player has blown up with the coach, but when asked about Bateman, Richo made a strong statement about him needing to be on board at the club or he can go.

Seems a strange thing to say if there hadn't been issues with that player.

Do you truly believe everything is hunky dory when it comes to Bateman and the club?

I wouldn’t be surprised if he is annoyed his head coach is so lacking.
 
Bateman took his time starting here n has got lazier n less professional that he has stayed,On ya bike Johnny - thanks 4 the memories

You're big on the name calling, but that aside, do you think when situations at the club have become untenable, the people involved were drama queens?

The crux if the issue is he is playing shit football. Nothing else really matters.
