Im loathe to think what a Bellamy or a Hasler wld have achieved with Grant's talents by now,but we are where we are I guess

some would argue that is irrelevant what other coach's would've gotten out of grant because they would've never bought him in the first place. a coach is the manager of a team and whatever squad the team builds is due to the coach.

you are such a tool.
You attempt to deride and mock others despite clearing showing no knowledge on the subject.

I dont mind people having different opinions, many things in sport are subjective. However you carrying on this issue is ridiculous.

Ironically your post is true, Hasler and Bellemy would be unlikely to buy a player from the shute shield or similar. Sheens has done it 4 times now, with varying success Saffy and Tuaki were successes, McGann was not and Grant is yet to be seen.
Bellemy styles shows he is likely to buy a proven journeyman and Hasler seems to have gone more mainstream as well.

where you think a coach's job ends, i think that's where the coach's job starts. varying opinions? i dont think so, YOU continually ignore the fact that sheens has not been able to perform the MAIN job of a coach.

saying that, i'll apologise for the previous comment… uncalled for and out of context.

When hasn't Sheens been able to perform the main job of a coach? Where are the facts that prove this?

Objectivity in this thread is affected by Grants background, nothing more, nothing less. A GPS boy that's come from Rugby? There's battalions of people willing him to fail for no other reason than his success will dent the collectives opinion that 'RL playerz is better dan da Rugby nuffies' It promotes ignorance and lack of understanding to an entirely new level

Are you Reds pompous paranoid twin?
I havent seen his GPS background mentioned here, mainly his speed and thats about it.
Seriously….flick that chip off yer shoulder

I'd promised myself to just ignore your sniping, since It's the kind of pointless opinion that masquerades as being something meaningful, but constantly falls short of the mark. Although my post wasn't directed at you, I'm happy to take this opportunity to tell you exactly how shallow and pompous you are mate. You demean posters constantly, you punch out endless one liners that are either unintelligible or inflammatory and think that sort of volume provides you with the right to stride around the forum like some sort of demented policeman.

I'm happy to continue ignoring you, but if you want to go toe to toe happy to oblige Mr Shamrocks

Can someone who regularly watches this bloke play give us an honest report on how he is going?

And an update on Tim Simona would be appreciated too. Always had a wrap on him. Don't get to see BRET these days.

He played fullback the last game and was out of sorts, was stood up a few times and beaten, but overall that game was pretty poor every man for himself. And grant isnt ready for first grade.

He's heading overseas next year apparently.

We need more youth in the team. I don't see how replacing a 32 year old with a 62 year old will solve that problem.

Grant is 23 … Ready to be shipped off to the retirement home isn't he? :bash

He may be 62 but he's incredibly powerful. Just watch what happens when he throws his weight around. 😕

He is a first grade player alright. He is big, fast, has great hands, can tackle and bust one, can turn and chase and finish off any breaks that the side makes (although few and far between these days). In a nutshell, he is everything that our current wingers are not. (except Beau ).

I actually think John will make the NRL side and have said so for a while. However as others have stated it will ne next year at the earliest. For mine John currently would be behind both of our 20's wingers in line for a NRL spot. I actually think Marika Koriebete will make his debut this year. I have been going to football for about 30 years and this kid is one of the most talented and exciting prospect I have seen. For mine Marika is a long way ahead of John Grant.

Does it even matter? The dude has proved he is far too good for NSW cup and there is one place for a player like that to be tested.

And we are lacking hugely in the position that he is best suited for. If he's not picked it's absurd.

Rangi Chase scored 5 tries for us in a game a few years ago against the Bunnies

Maybe working on some peoples logic we should of made him CEO Captain and Coach of the club

Told you all months ago this guy was an athlete, just needed time. He is a footballer. Has earned a first grade jumper.
