I wouldn’t mind either of those. They have some experience though and we’ve had a recent history of recruiting those with limited or no experience. Which leads me to the question..who is actually responsible for hiring a defensive coach who will report to the Head coach, I assume.
When Madge was getting performance reviews at WT the HBG board indicated the need to have more input in the decision making process and as such they may have the final say? Possibly working through the WT CEO? I have really no idea, just saying what it looks like from this outsider.

Really strange Toovey has never been able to get any sort of coaching gig since being sacked 16 years ago. His record was good but clearly no one rates him. He talks dribble. Very passionate and I wanted him Blues coach years ago, but 16 years out of the game, no thanks. Never forget the time he was talking on one of the footy shows and he clearly had no idea backrowers play on the edge.

Some of the names being posted are frightening. We need young coaches who are across the modern game, able to relate to the today's playing group and are excellent communicators.

His coaching record isn’t outstanding. You’re right our edge defence is targeted by opposition teams.
What about someone like Fitzhenry?
He coached Southcity to a group 9 premiership.
Has played every position in the backs.
A local wests magpies junior?
And the clincher…he’s a 2005 gf winner.
