OFFICIAL Jordan Miller #289

I feel like Miller could have played the Hunt role, for much cheaper, and probably less impact - but a better future? Maybe?

While I like Sione and think he's a good bench option, I think the most important thing about his re-signing is keeping the brothers happy.
Sione has the potential to not only start, but to excel in the middle.

His hands, footwork and first contact are already top shelf.

He needs to improve his motor, his tackle completion/wrestle and his reads around the ruck, but he is not just a place holder.

He's a quality, versatile and unique middle option.

With an improved motor, I like him at lock...

I can see Sione making some pretty big gains next year. He has done his time playing through the grades, he is coming into the right age and I think he has shown quite a bit in his time in firsts

It’s all about getting the right balance across your roster. At present we a top heavy with kids with potential. That would be okay if we were a club that had recent success, but we are a club that needs to make a big climb off the floor of the comp. We need to do what the Dogs did and get experienced hard heads in on two year contracts.

Okay we might loose some really good talent in the short term, but we need to get the club competitive and that will not happen while we are overlooked with players on P plates

I think the real issue for Jordan is that the game is evolving to a point that leg speed is as, if not more important than size. He doesn’t seem to be blessed with good leg speed and footwork? He seems more a lumbering, roll forward type player. While perhaps a bit premature, We may be better to move him on as I believe both Sione and even Tim Johansson probably have more upside.

I think you still need both types of forwards

Me too. Best option for me as well. Unless you want to go with more of a ball playing lock like Bird.

We don't have anyone capable of wrapping up large opponents because our players are both typically much smaller than them and have poor technique. Someone tall with long arms will be able to dominate the ruck/ offload against a smaller opponent more often than not. We need a combination of body types and most of the forwards we have are well below average size

I’ll be disappointed if he goes. What he showed in 20mins vs PNG is what every team can benefit from. Many runs, broke the first tackle nearly every time.
Tackled really well. Made a cover tackle back on the inside only Stef could dream of.
Personally with Stef going I was under the impression Jordan is our cover option. Maybe the signing of Hunt has changed that.

I sense a yeah but coming on..
Well, it was in relation to the claim that height or 'long arms' is what we're missing.

Just reiterating the fact that those metrics are not only largely irrelevant, but not something we lack.

Our pack needs work, but height isn't the issue.

It’s a 50/50 on whether or not Jordan will become a good quality regular NRL player or not.
On one hand someone with his size is always useful if they carry the ball with purpose, but on the other hand there has to be question marks on whether or not he has enough speed and athleticism to make use of his size.
In my opinion I think it’s unlikely he will ever progress to being a good quality regular NRL player, but if he remains with us I hope I am wrong.
