Josh Aloiai #190

Probably getting more concussions because we're always getting dominated. A bit like a hopeless boxer.

I dont think its bad to he having that many concussion TESTS per game, thats the point. 5-6 positive concussion test results would be another thing.

Can't see JT making many changes soon but interested to know what JT's reasons are behind Aloiai's minutes? Imagine with Lawrence and Taylor capable of 80 minutes, it allows reduced minutes for Aloiai. Looks to have plenty of potential but would love to see him get more game time otherwise someone like Felise should make their way into the 17 and push Sue into the backrow.

I don't like him, but then again i didn't like Ava when he first started as pointed out by another forum member.

I really like the looks of Felise though, reminds me of Taumalolo.

I rate Aloiai and think he will improve massively as he settles in. I think he may end up a middle forward, but guess it is wait and see.

he gives quality when he's on.
i agree, he's more of a middle player- maybe if ET wants to play 60, we can have josh on between 50-70\. i reckon ET, sue and josh's best position is lock.

His production per minute is very low. Goof power in attack and defence just doesn't have the motor yet.

Gee give the guy a chance there are not too many 20 year olds in their first NRL season that play 80 minutes.
Like GNR said he is only a pup, and I rate him.

He is quality but it only lasts 20 odd minutes per game. Hopefully he can work on his minutes but I prefer the lack of minutes and quality play compared to too many minutes and plenty of mistakes.

I'm a massive fan of Aloiai, I can honestly see him being a player in a similar mould to Taumololo. Like some other guys have said just give this kid a little time and he will be something special. His greatest asset is that he is humble and thankful for his chance to play first grade he doesn't walk around and talk like anything is owed to him.

He doesn't have a low work rate - he puts out more work per minute than Lawrence, Sironen and Lovett. The difference is those guys play much longer minutes. If he's going to keep playing short stints hopefully he can start hunting for work like Taumalolo does for the cows.

He's got the frame to be a good impact forward and hopefully that's how we develop him. He doesn't seem to have much "agro" or "mongrel" but then neither does Taumalolo and he's the most damaging running forward in the game.

He has a low workmate for a middle forward you listed to edge back rowers. If you look at the stats he has a lower workmate than these players in either case. I have compared below to Ava who is a middle forward that plays similar minutes.

This week JA In 30 minutes he ran for 58 metres and made 15 tackles vs Ava 31 minutes 108 metres and 14 tackles. Last week in 36 minutes 37 metres and 25 tackles vs AVA in 41 minutes made 89 metres and 29 tackles. The trend continues if you look into it which, can be expected for a rookie.
The fact of the matter is he doesn't get involved enough and runs out of steam. Great prospect just not a starting first grade player at this stage. He looks the goods as a longer term enforcer for us.

He's been playing on the edge since Elijah Taylor came, which is why I compared him to edge forwards. He's started on the edge the last few weeks, so there is no point comparing his stats over the last few weeks with those of Ava.

I did compare his season stats with Lawrence, Sirro and Lovett and he has higher tk/min and runs/min than all of them, but that is probably skewed by him having had stints in the middle.
