Why Tigers want to keep Josh Reynolds
NRL star Josh Reynolds has failed a roadside drug test after being pulled over driving on an expired licence - now the Tigers five-eighth is awaiting the results of a second swab.

NSW Police say they pulled over a Mercedes on President Avenue in Caringbah at 1.30am on Monday morning and with the Tigers’ star five-eighth was behind the wheel.

Police say Reynolds, 31, only had an expired licence and was issued with an infringement notice.

He was given a roadside drug test and failed.

He was then taken to Sutherland Police station for a secondary oral fluid test which has been sent to a laboratory for analysis.

The Daily Telegraph understands two tests were done - one returned a positive result and the other negative.

Reynolds is now awaiting the result of a laboratory test to confirm which was correct.

Reynolds’ manager was contacted by The Daily Telegraph but did not respond. An NRL spokesperson said in a statement: “The Wests Tigers advised the NRL Integrity Unit of the matter. The Integrity Unit are working with the club and NSW Police to determine the full details.”

The incident comes after a rough year for Reynolds mostly because of a public breakdown with his now ex-girlfriend Arabella Del Busso – who is alleged to have faked several pregnancies while they were together.

Police hauled him before the courts on a domestic violence charge related to Ms Del Busso but it was ultimately dropped.

Just one week ago she broke her silence on 60 Minutes with shock revelations about her deceptions.

If he's tested positive for drugs, that has to be a grounds for termination of his contract. Negative press is a bad thing, but if he gets sacked for this it's great news for our salary cap.

Kick him out .......wait ....yeah ...nah

Trying to get a gig at the Roosters or Sharks obviously

If guilty, he has no place in the game.

However

.....he should be presumed innocent until proven otherwise.

Damn, expired licence and failed roadside drug test...

Maybe drug test will come back negative, if so, driving without a valid licence is stupid but not sackable.

For his sack, hope it's a negative result.

Good one Josh. Not the sharpest tool in the shed.

You'd probably know... How long these tests take to get results?

I love how they say awaiting the result of his test - he isnt really he knows if he has taken drugs or not and that should be the question that matters for his contract. I'm over the lack of value he has brought us with all the drama - clear 800k off our cap and spend it wisely

I hope he hasnt but not knowing why one would be positive and the other negative you have to give him the benefit of the doubt. But if it is positive i'd say thats the death knell ringing for Josh, not the best weekend for the club.

Don't players make enough to renew their licence?
I don't understand how you let your licence expire and still drive as a professional sportsperson who is always under the spotlight

Won't take too long, depends on how many other samples are being processed though.
