To me this looks like a set-up and she is doing everything wrong. I don't understand anyone (male or female) sticking up for her.

Just say it's her house. Why doesn't she leave ? Why create a situation and record it ?

And conversely, I cant understand anyone sticking up for him. You're saying how terrible it is she recorded him, but if he wasn't such a piece of crap there'd be nothing to film.

This is where I think you get it wrong and I think modern society has it wrong. We are playing the side of women are such precious little perfect creatures when they aren't. They can be abusive and it's abusive to record a conversation on the sly like that.

If that is Josh at his worst then he is alright by me. He definitely isn't a criminal and having that uploaded like that into the public domain is sickening.

"he definitely isn't a criminal" - yet he's to appear before the courts in August on domestic violence charges.

Whilst i am not a fan of josh's for the value we have got from his signing
I am appalled at the people who are talking salary cap.
This is a guys future you are talking about
you need to hang your heads in shame

Welcome aboard. It is his future, and he should have thought of that before doing what he's done. No one forced him to do it and whatever happens from here is his fault.

He gets paid more than most people could ever dream of to literally play a game. It's a privilege and if he loses it all because of this so be it. I couldn't care less.

He hasn't done anything though. She is definitely setting him up because she recorded it. She went there to cause drama.

You're stating a lot of things as fact without a shred of evidence to support them.

"she is definitely setting him up" - how do you know?
"she went there to cause drama" - again, how do you know?

The only thing we know FOR SURE is what was recorded on that video, and it ain't pretty.

We know she recorded the video. We know he has sworn at her. It's called an argument and getting all high and mighty over it to me is crazy stuff. It's like how you can't touch a kid now. I was hit plenty of times when I was younger and it was fine. People argue. My parents are in the 70's and can have arguments. If all you have is a young man swearing in that situation then I think you have nothing and it's a game.

Cool but what you may view as acceptable other people may not.

Looks like he was set up to me
Did the camera set itself up and start recording by itself
Or did someone set the scene
Something also set Josh off
So what was it ?
No one knows but the two or 3 people in the room
I think 3 because someone filming and someone in bed
Anyway none of us should pass judgment just yet
Non of us know what actually happened

Regardless of a “set up” or “being recorded” do you think the behaviour is appropriate? Also you would think being recorded would of slowed him down a bit and just walk out of the room. But it didn’t.

Appropriate
You do not know the full story
What if the 3rd person in the room was another man and josh walked into his bedroom and found them there
Just hypothetical I know but you and I have no idea what happened so don't judge him just yet
As far as being recorded did josh know he was being recorded, I don't think so
Where is the rest of the footage and what was on it
Who posted this stuff on social media and for what purpose
What were these people hoping to achieve
What was thier motive
These are the questions you Should be asking
These rest will play itself out in court and you Should reserve your judgment until then
Have you not heard the saying "Innocent until proven guilty "

Who recorded it because it was not the lady in the bed so to me it looks like there was a third person involved
Why was that person there

She is definitely being abusive. She is deliberating recording conversations like that and uploading them onto the public domain.

If she knew he is like that why is she staying ? Why did she take that video ? What is in it for her ?

I'm not condoning his behavior. It's wrong. The thing is we are human beings and we aren't perfect and instances like these shouldn't be on the public domain or in our courts.

The bigger question here is who is the low life who released the video on social media considering this all happened back in October 2019

did josh make the video did Josh post it
geez guys cut him some slack

Can all the armchair Matlocks give it a rest?

All you know is the video that has been circulated. You don't know the circumstances before or after that video, so can we stop drawing conclusions based on whether the girl was trying to set him up or whether it relates to his DV case. The club, NRL and police are aware of the video. Leave it to them and the courts to adjudicate.

@Earl I really respect your opinions on here, you're a stand up guy for saying what you said earlier about your daughter but please don't get it misconscrued. Josh is not a victim here this is bad judgment on his part. Like Dempsey mentioned earlier, you're in charge of your own behaviour, nothing that happens beforehand can absolve you from this. I know it's hard to play by the book and keep your cool/manners sometimes but the only behaviour we can control is our own. But I'm a hypocrite so I don't know, I trust the the magistrate's ruling on the matter.

Happened to a friend of mine.

Then the police officer said call us back in an hour and we'll come back and take him away if ya want.

Are you still friends with him?

I hope not given your stance on these issues.

They had a verbal argument...

We all have them.
Just have to keep cool and not lose it.

The Reynolds video is only verbal...what's the difference?

Get your friend sacked and ruin his reputation, lest you be called a hypocrite.

As i explained...
It wasnt filmed and it was an argument
Heated from both parties...
Cops came, neither wanted to take it further but it was now a police matter.

My friend had to go to court and had a 6 month DVO in place.

This is something we as men need to be aware of.
The female was just as to blame but the courts do not care.
She didnt wanna DVO, the police did.

Im sure it was stressful for him but they're still together and that was 3 years ago.

Do u understand?

I get it mate. Couples argue...sometimes with some pretty nasty words exchanged. I'm with you on that. A heated argument between couples from time to time is fairly normal as I'm sure you'd agree.

Cops weren't called on Reynolds at all in the video.

It was pretty tame as far as domestic disputes go, yet in an identical situation, you want Reynolds head on a stake, whereas your friend gets a free pass. Surely he should be held to the same standard?

If he's argued with his partner more than once, does that indicate he has a "history of domestic violence"? Should he sacked from his job given this "history"?

If bad words = domestic violence and intimidation, then all the men on this forum are victims as much as the women in the video is. Or are the rules different for women? Do they have a free pass to swear at their partners without fear of a DVO?

You see where I'm going with this? The whole thing is out of hand. It's impossible to attain perfection as a human being. People are judging him with no leeway for human imperfection and an appreciation of momentary emotion.

If he has struck her, then that behaviour should not go unpunished as I'm sure 100% of the forum agrees. I'm isolating this post to the incident in the video. I have no knowledge or understanding of what has occurred in the relationship so my comments don't extend to that.

I see Reynolds language towards his partner as more of a moral issue than a criminal one and I'd just like to see a proportionate reaction to incidents like these.

Agree with what you say about having to keep your head these days. It's also sad that we need to think about filming our verbal altercations in case we are accused of something more serious than what has actually occurred.

This ^^^ . How many times have you been called things that would make a sailor blush , and vice versa in an argument .
The reality is conflict resolution is not a common thing, and we all argue in different ways .
Hypothetically , if you’re having private time in a bathroom , and the door flies open with someone standing there with a phone , and your reputation can be ruined by this type of thing getting out , wouldn’t you feel betrayed ? Angry ? Resentful ? Throw in Alcohol , and would you not say some horrendous stuff ?
Glass houses and all that .

Definitely!!! Especially since the only action I get is by myself in the bathroom. Thank God I'm quick.

Hard to know what’s happening in that clip. Whose house are they in? What are they arguing about? What was the reason for the video being taken? Far too many questions raised, but I’m sure people’s recollection of the event will become clear in court .

I didn't mean legally. In my opinion that means he definitely isn't a criminal and being bought up for DV charges on that video to me shows how farcical the DV laws are today.

There is a massive difference between losing your shit occasionally in an argument compared to beating the shit out of a woman. Unfortunately what I see is these two completely separate events being considered the same thing legally and it's a joke.

Fair enough. Completely disagree and I hope we kick his arse to the curb.

Not gonna happen, Avo... common sense should’ve prevailed for the woman here. That’s no worse than my own kids have treated me... was she asking for money? If it’s more serious than anything like that then as I said previously, courts and especially a judge (not jury) would take into account the **obvious** provocation that’s been brought upon him. I’ll seriously be laughing if Smokey is wrong and this is legitimately the cause for DV charges brought against him... I may even stop paying taxes. So yes, as much as you may disagree with others, many men AND women will support JR, not to mention his employers and as of this moment family and friends as well... I’ve only seen snide twitter accounts and dodgy leaked nudes to improve Reynolds’ case (going off of the video alone). My mrs currently isn’t a dog but the ex wife was!

On numerous occasions in this thread you've labelled Reynolds as a criminal because he has a pending court case which he is yet to be convicted/acquitted for. By your logic, all people who have had previous court cases, whether found guilty or innocent, are criminals. Enough with the nonsense, please... We are discussing his actions in this video and whether they are legally wrong, not his pending court case which I must capitalise for you: HE HAS NOT BEEN CONVICTED YET. If he was to be convicted, then I'll join you in condemning Josh for his actions but hold it until the courts have decided.

Start laughing, SG’s strike rate warrants it.

Abuse and anger can be different. The court will decide where the line is in this matter (not just the video), not a forum where everyone thinks their definition matters. Guess what.... it doesn't.

Since none of you know what is happening maybe staying out of it would be better.
