Now who do we target for the back row

I reckon patience is key and wait for the off season musical chairs to do its thing

Agreed, its all about targetting the right person when they are available.Too many times in the past our club has decided we have money and just fired a shotgun at everyone and signed any player that wants to come on "overs".

Re;AVO POST. Comments such as ;Do we extend contract,-- he knew what he was getting into.etc etc.The posts are full of them.

We have 3 roster spots to fill now with Reynolds going I think. Depending on who those signings are could be enough to propel us into the top 8 in 2021.

Agree, but I don't think there is a lot of talent around atm? Just our luck to have a bucket load of cash and no one to spend it on🙂

With Reynolds gone it removes another excuse for non performance in 2021....

28 of the eventual 30 will All have been recruited re-signed/extended by the current recruitment team..

Not his team won't fly in 21...

Reynolds leaving is good for the salary cap but him leaving after pre-season training started is hardly ideal.
Aloiai leaving so quickly would not have been in the plan and is not ideal.
Seyfarth leaving sounds like it wasn't ideal.
The JAC deal falling through at the last minute was not ideal.
Most other teams would know who will play 1, 6, 7 & 9 for the year, we have had lots of changes and will need time for some trial and error.

If Madge had known how much salary cap he was going to have for 2021 he would probably made some different decisions, it looked like he was being very conservative with player purchases for 2021 so we he would have cap space and money for 2022.

So our position is better than anyone would have expected, but there is still plenty of justification for not making the 8 in 2021.

Call them excuses and demand Madge's sacking if you like. I feel very strongly that sacking Madge at the end of 20201 would make us much worse in 2022 and 2023 compared with sticking with him.

Please point to where it was said to sack the coach if we don’t make the 8

Douiehi even came out and said not making the 8 is not acceptable..

I can tell you the entire Club demand a top 8 finish this year..the roster is not an excuse

Why do people talk about sacking Madge? He knew we had a crap roster and it would take time. Its only recently that he has got decent recruitment, develoment, and training staff that are as professional as the top clubs. We finished ahead of a lot of highly fancied sides with 1.5mil of players hardly taking the field.Common sense ,not emotion is needed.

Got to point out that you have stated a few times recently the belief that others are using emotion rather than reason or similar, yet there seems to be a plentiful amount of emotional outpouring from yourself. That I cannot recall a single person mentioning sacking Maguire stands out.

I think current recruitment team will not panic like in the past

Lets be serious,we had the slowest backline in the comp,we had a young pack with no forward leader,we had no decent fullback,Reynolds had little game time,Benji was past use by date,if not for Harry we had no hooker .Every one knows 1,6,7,and 9 are key players.WE had very few players that would have made the top 13 at other clubs.ITS AN ACHEIVMENT TO FINISH 11.

We all know coaches only survive based on their results including their ability to recruit. Maguire knows that better than anyone. He will only have so long - no matter who supports him or not and the pressure will be on if the team doesnt perform well enough to make the eight regardless of how they compare on paper to other teams. That's just the way it is.

Looks like old Buzzard was correct about another Tiger wanting out of the club, he just got the name wrong.
Reynolds probably looks like Musgrove through the bottom of a whiskey glass.

Was he wanting out or were the club wanting him out? There's a big difference.

You make a good point Blake, most teams know their 1 6 7 & 9. It’s obviously becoming an urgent priority for WT to establish a strong spine. I’m thinking if we can get Laurie early, play Doueihi at 6 with Liddle at 9, barring injuries, the only change would come from Simpkin possibly forcing his selection?
I would be more enthused by Madge having a strong established spine than I would be if we made top 8, because it would make recruitment that much easier when other big contracts fall off the books, especially if we’re looking for outside backs or running back rowers.

Another step forward by the club. Well done Tigers.
Top 8 a must this coming season and club doing all it can to manoeuvre itself into contention.

I'd go as far to say that unless a stray North Korean missile hits the team bus, anything less than 8th is not acceptable next year. Madge and Hartigan have made a concerted effort to improve the roster. Stacked in the outside backs and front row/lock. A few options in the halves and the only place we lack is second row and fullback (Mbye is a reasonable short term option here if they coat his hands in super glue.)

It works in our favour for him to move but I truly believe he gave 100% every time he pulled on the jersey. He seems to have found some stability in his private life and maybe a stint in England is just what he needs to set up his life after football.

Best of luck Grub, you deserve a break after a terrible run with injury. I suspect the slightly slower pace, less intense defence and softer grounds will see him shine.
