Juniors - Pathways General Discussion

1000% great role Shannon Gallant has filled. He actually cares about our juniors and the club something thats been missing in the past. The last three recruitment managers had their agendas with their "mates" that are player agents.
That’s great to hear Rozy.
Now my new fear is some knucklehead further up will sack him or let him go to another club.
I’m still scared by Fruit Pascals.

To be honest that is how top tier sport is run around most of the western world.
In America at least.

Not begruding the Roosters, and definitely not the kids looking for an education. Roosters found a system that is working for them. More griping at the system as a whole.

To be fair to club like the Roosters and Dogs they pull the trigger quicker and identify all these kids in GPS schools because invariably over 90% of them have been poached from Rugby League in the first place. Toby Rodwell, Alex Conti, Mitch Woods, Baxter Warner, DeLa Salle Vaa, Makaseni, Onitoni and Ashton Large are all League players first and have been poached to bolster the Union schools. These GPS schools have nothing to cry about. Joseph Sualli was offered a scholarship by Kings School when he was ID playing for for his junior club since he was 4 years at Glenmore Park Brumbies

I have heard over the weekend that Shannon Gallant has got one up on the Roosters and has signed Levi Conti back to us. Absolutely great news that a local junior that was not treated the right way is back where he should be with us. It will be even better news if Shannon gets Mikey Nasser and Alex Conti back too. It would be a ripper trifecta. Great work Shannon Gallant, LEGEND!
A step in the right direction, but of those 3 Levi is a long way behind the talent of the other two. Not sure where he'd be playing next year, bench in flegg maybe

Haven't seen Hassett play, but I think Clarke will definitely play first grade at some stage. Hasset seems a fair way down the pecking order at Panthers which given he was a standout junior is a concern. If he is small then that might be his downfall against men

To be fair he has started most the game this season, played 80mins most the time & been a workhorse in defence for them.

A kid who works his but off & somewhat defensively sound - would make our squad better.

22 was Panthers SG Ball player of the year, then he was elevated to the top 30 this season.

I’m concerned about his body size but that can be solved over a few pre seasons - it’s clear he has a very good work effort and some talent. Also injury free. Could be another Fainu type pickup (he wasn’t getting time at Manly really before us as well).

Have the WTs ever changed someones body type in preseason? Packed on mussle and changed the way they play.?
I keep reading about these amazing off seasons but can not remember one.

Jared Haywood has had a blinder for Blacktown Pats in the Peter Mulholland cup. Set up two tries & kicked the winning field goal to send them into the final.
He’s an impressive young player.
Big competition for our number 9 position if we keep our current stocks with Talyn Da Silva, Bailey Hodges Jared Haywood and Ashton Large.

Also relevant in this thread I guess

I rate Kobie Wilson and not a bad thing he’s staying with us, but when you see he and Tristan Hope both signed as number 9’s, where does that leave the highly talented Bailey Hodges who nearly all of us that have watched him play recognise as a very underrated talent with NRL potential and good versatility to go with it ?

Hodges is very versatility.

Could see him being a good 5/8 or centre.
A keeper for sure.
