Keith Galloway

At the end of last season the club had a clean out of the front row ranks, to accommodate the signing of Adam Blair. Gibbs and Fifita were moved on while Payten retired. Whilst Matt Bell was brought in (and in my opinion done a good job despite being given stuff all game time), many (myself included) felt we left ourselves short up front, relying on kids to kick on in their second year (Woods and Groat). Woods to his credit has excelled this season, Groat has struggled and lost his spot in first grade.

That brings me to Keithy, the only front rower at the club who at the start of the year had 100 games to his name. When he has played this year he has been very good and has found a bit of consistency in his game which is good because he had a lot of pressure on him. But I think his importance to the side is understated. He has missed 6 games through injury, in which we have recorded 0 wins. 0-6, with 4 of those losses being by 13+. With him in the side our record is a respectable 9-4, those 4 losses coming against Brisbane, Canterbury, Newcastle and the Roosters.

What do you people think? Did we cut too many props last year? How important has Keithy become to our line up?

Big time.but hindsight will always look good when something has failed .
We miss gibsy and fifita but Keithy seems to have a lot of trouble or bad luck staying on the park.Anyone got his stats for in and out ? would be interesting to know.

I hope he stops getting injured. I wound love to know how many games he has missed on the last 3 years.
As much as I love him when he's fully fit
Is he worth persisting with him, even with the stats mentioned as he seems he will never fulfill his full potential due to him always getting injured.

Bell played 110 for Penrith

You'd be getting the a bumps and bruises yourself running into a brick wall of 100+kg players at full pelt week in week out too. Even more so now with KG's increased minutes this year. It's the nature of front rowers, they're expected to miss a few games through the season, that's why forward depth is important and why we're struggling this year.

Would not want to be without Keith, props of quality and size are hard to come by and worth a lot, as we've found. I know he is a bit injury prone, but he's a keeper. Just need another big bad boy to go with him and Woods and it would help a lot, the others either aren't big enough, or effective enough.

Yes keep pursuing him, what has letting go of props done for us in the past?

He is one of the reasons I like this team. One of the few players left if not the only who can knock defenders to the ground with a charge. Makes m pretty similar to Woods when he plays. Most props are pretty lucky to get through the season without an injury or two

Has alot more potential in him, but is always injured . I want to see just one season from Keithy, injury free to see what he can do consistently week in week out.

Just as an FYI - He hasn't missed that many especially given he is a big forward sin ce he became a fuill time front rower
2012 - 13 Games - 9 wins
2011 - 23 Games - 15 wins
2010 - 20 Games- 11 wins
2009 - 15 games
2008 - 18 games
2007 - 17 Games

No one is debating we're a prop short, at least.
It's been said many times and even mentioned by the recruiter/coach/ or some one high up, I believe.

Galloway is one of our hardest workers, along with Woods.
I wish we still had Gibbs, 'cos we'd be looking massive in the front row department.

Adam Blair really needs to lift his game to fill the gap of the big fellas we lost to secure his signature.

I saw the info below and posted it on May 29, 2012\. KG is a super important to WT;

@TripleM_NRLlive: FACT: Most influential player in #nrl based on wins and losses: Keith Galloway (Tigers 6-1 when he plays, 0-4 when he doesn't)”

The Tigers always miss Galloway when he's injured because our go forward suffers so much. In tandem with Woods the Tigers generally look pretty strong up the middle for the first 20 minutes, but we just don't have the same impact and workrate coming off the bench. I think Moors has it in him, but he's a class below both Aaron and Keith, while Cashmere is an honest toiler, along with Bell who is very good defensively.

Mosese Fotuaika has been dominating in the NYC for a few weeks now and I'm confident he can step up next year to offer some impact off the bench if he gets a fulltime gig. Groat has potential as well, but this year has definitely been a write off for the young fella and he needs to regroup during the off-season (provided he is re-signed).

In the previous 5 seasons though we have had established first graders like Gibbs, Payten and at times Skandalis who can fill his shoes. This year the stocks are way too thin.

People are exaggerating the lose of Fifita way to much, lets not forget he was not in our first grade side at the end of last year, and I rate Woods, Galloway and Bell all above him, not to mention that he thought he was the best prop at the club. I miss Gibbs but had we retained him I don't think we would have seen Woods take his game to the level he has this year, he has been the most positive thing about this season.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to have 1 more prop that can run with authority, so that Galloway & Woods can be rested without too great a drop-off in momentum.

Bell is the hard working toiler, but he's not an impact guy. Moors hasn't ever become what many hoped he would become.

I'm thinking the answer might need to come from the juniors. I still have high hopes for Groat, who looked good last season. I'm also tempted to have BMM become a full-time front rower. Bell has proven that you can use him as effectively as a backrower, so a permanent switch to the backrow to allow BMM + 1 prop on the bench is very acceptable.

Chadman's Ghost - I would like to see that prop rotation.

Woods/Galloway starting & Groat/BMM as bench props who don't have to play a lot of minutes and can go as hard as possible.

I think the backrow though is more of a problem - where will the impact come from ? Fulton can play. Blair is basically useless in the backrow. I suppose Blair can play prop but who out of those players would he replace ? Bell is a good player but doesn't have much impact, same as Heighno.

I'd say Bell could just about replace Heighington at this point- both offer very similar styles of play.

Fulton is simply the best wide running forward the Tigers have. I think with better momentum, and a year under his belt, Blair can't be as bad next year as he's been this year. He's still a quality player, just playing badly. I'd expect to see more from him- that said, I expect to see more every week & am left wanting more times than not. I'd suggest that Pettybourne could be a very useful wide runner off the bench too. I'd be interested in playing Sironen off the bench next season & allowing Anasta to play 5/8- Sironen could be a very effective ball playing lock on the edges.

Playing BMM at prop would be a HUGE waste of his talent. His best attributes are his speed, footwork and line-running, he has to play on the edges
