Keithy set to captain City - NSW a Possibility ?

James Hooper on 'Sterlo on the Couch' just gave a scoop stating that keithy will be named City captain on Sunday to offset the investment in youth across the rest of the team.

With that in mind does anyone give big red a chance at cracking a bench spot in SOO. He isn't to far off the form that saw him make his last appearance and there aren't many NSW forwards putting their hands up right about now.

We know Lozza is a fan of club combinations so maybe a Woodsy/Keithy prop partnership to form an all tiger front row ?

8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Scott
12\. Bird
13\. Gallen

14\. Merrin
15\. Cordner
16\. Watmough
17\. Lewis

In past years we have seen elder statesmen like Watmough, Lewis and Bird star at origin level but are now one year older and struggling at club level.

James Tamou is also struggling at club level and is hence unlikely to get an origin call up.

Andrew Fifita was also struggling prior to his suspension and is now out for 5 weeks which won't help his cause.

Thoughts ?
Does Keithy have a chance ?

As Gus would say NO NO NO NO NO

Its great news for him if true, well deserved for a good start to the yr. But his Origin prospects were done with a couple yrs ago.

Would you play Tamou despite his poor start to the season ?

I'd probably have Merrin in the front row personally.

But if i was a betting man (wait, i am) i'd say it will be

8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Gallen
13\. Merrin

Possibly opens up a spot for Keithy on the bench ?

I think you would need at least 2 maybe 3 genuine props.

Woods
Keithy
Fifita
Tamou
Merrin

2 need to start and i would have 2 on the bench.

I like Merrin on the bench because i think in SOO your bench needs:

1 genuine prop
1 middle forward that can also play on the edges

And either
2 back rowers or 1 back rower and a utility

I remember Phil Gould saying thats what he always liked on his benches in SOO and it has merrit.

We have a huge problem at prop. Woods will be one. Even if we play both Merrin and Gallen in the front row rotation, we still need one more! No one is putting their hand up,Tamou is going like a busted, Fifita playing rubbish and suspended.
There isnt anyone putting their hand up, maybe Galloway will get a King style selection.
They might go with Klemmer?
We have a massive lack of front rowers playing well.

Toleman or Galloway have been my smokes for the last few weeks… With 1 spot open, both these 2 boys have put there hands up.

Fifita will be selected... NSW Probably funded his lawyer at the judiciary last week!

Tamou has been much improved the last 2 weeks , he might be right by the time SOO comes around

These Queenslanderrrrrrr's still stressing on who we'll pick…bwahahahaha....

Stick with your Dad's Amry pack....

QLD props won't be any big than ours. I think they might try and get us with speed around the middle. So for that reason I'd leave Keith out.
If they had a monster pack like the Kiwis /Poms I'd pick him.

Klemmer would have to get a bench spot after his Kangaroos debut. He proved he's up to the task. Tim Grant might be in the mix also.

Would love to see Keith there again, but he'd be towards the bottom of an albeit short list.

Soo way to fast for Galloway. Would struggle to churn out two ten minute stints. Plus many younger better options. Woods/gallen/merrin/fafita/Klemmer/tolman/ Ryan James even grant and tamou

I dont think so

If we're in a situation that we have to pick Galloway (even though his form has picked up a bit) we are long odds to win again
Suddenly I'm not too optimistic about our chances.
