Ken Maumalo #246

The warriors saving face in this quote they published on their website.

“Ken had an opportunity to secure a long-term future for himself and his family beyond next season but we couldn’t offer anything further at this stage,” said Vodafone Warriors CEO Cameron George.

The Tigers only gave him an extra year on what he had with the warriors hardly a long term contract at 2 and 1/2 yrs.

I think there is something going on behind the scenes. Could simply be that he doesnt get on with Browny as others have said (not great, who says he gets on with Madge?). I wonder if its linked to him going home last year during Covid?

Recap the situation

We supposedly meet Isako, media circus.
Goes no where and he claims he's sticking solid with broncos.

We talk to dogs about DWZ, they want BJ and then they want Mikaele... not too flexible with the costs involved. We walk away.

We then sign an athletic, tall, young, winger from the warriors looking to prove himself and get back to his best, in first grade.

????

Huge win.
Team is really shaping up nicely.

Waiting on the negative nellies to paint a narrative that we only took the offers away from DWZ & Issako after they rejected us and we settled for this nuffy. Thats how it goes isnt it?

And so it begins...

??

Anyway, I'm stoked with this signing.
Under the radar, smart signing.
??

Sucked in Bulldogs and good on us. I'm glad that we aren't being pushed around by other clubs anymore. I hope the bulldogs miss out on some big signings because of the failed negotiation.

Thier cap is beyond screwed . again !!! They just came out of it and they’ve gone straight back in .
Hoppa 600k, JAC 600k ,Burton 600k minimum , DWZ 800k , Cotric 600k , Allan 450k , 400k for Averillo. Napa is on 600k .

That’s half thier cap on ,barring JAC and Burton , some bog average players . Are they going to get a half and a 9 anytime soon ? Maybe some forwards ? And most of those guys are more than 2 years .
I would have chased a pack personally . As we have proven you don’t need names in the backline to score points . But you do need a pack with strike .

He13cm taller than JTJ (I don’t know what that is in English ?) and JTJ is bucket loads quicker than Talau, so I’m thinking the back line will change for the better.

About 5 inches, which is big!!

What ever happened to that thread where you can post comments that people make, where looking at the comment out of context is very funny.

This is one I would have added to that thread.

Wests Tigers didn't release a player or contribute to clearing another Clubs duds (DWZ, Isaako)..

Filled a roster spot for 2021 having the Warriors already contributing to that players salary..

Maumalo is a specialist winger and brings over 100 games NRL experience and NZ representative whose metrics match up with top wingers in the game...

Welcome aboard Beany..

Smart recruitment for once.
Under the radar signing that can only benefit us...

Loving it.
Ken always looks likely and is good for a few great runs a game.

Hopefully we can pull a few more big under the radar signings before 2022 season kicks off but our squad is looking very solid.
???

Recruitment has been much better since Hartigan’s involvement.

Massive understatement ?

Madge doesn’t get a mention?

A lot of heat on this signing but I think it’s great. He has shown he is a quality player and the games he did play in 2020 were quality for the most part.

It’s obvious he’s feeling on the outside at the Warriors due to heading home last year. It would be extremely difficult to come back into a team were 90% made a sacrifice that you couldn’t.

Makes a lot of sense. I actually dont think there is much heat on this signing, mostly because everyone knows it could have been DWZ.

Im not entirely sold on Ken, but much preferred over DWZ.

Umm he played for New Zealand under Madge.

Great signing out of nowhere, good to have some $$ in the bank to get a very capable player and not take on other clubs dumb contracts.

Much prefer Ken over DWZ or isaako. Will have plenty to prove and will be an asset to us later in the season.

Credit to the front office making the right plays.

Stalking the Warrior forum at LU, they are not bagging him, they seem to see it as a win/win....

one post...

"*Well we can safely say he will go hard for the Tigers. I will watch him this year.
Ken is very good when he has a skilled center and his confidence is up....I really want to see this guy smiling again,

He cuts a very sad figure when his confidence is low.

He just needs to get on a roll with his Try scoring and he will flourish.

Tigers pack will love him*."

Not my first choice as we desperately need more speed, but KM is a quality winger and we only had one of em...now 2!!
Hartigan doing a great job IMO

Who’s the other one ?

Think DWZ and isaako wld be quicker than Kenny....who is a bit more of the same tbh...but as I said,a quality winger who was winger of the year just 2 seasons ago....and at the rite price
Im hoping JTJ and Oliver both add some pace in the middle next year..
and btw,it probably spells the end for Joey L...

man that happened quick. ken will be a big factor in us getting on the front foot early in the tackle count. let's hope Madge can get him back to his 2019 form. welcome mate!!

Good signing IMO - size and strength out wide never goes astray and he can finish a try. Yeah, he's not lightning quick, but he's quick enough...

Good to have a ken in our team.

We’ve had heaps. I’m always hearing people at our games telling some player named Ken to go far.

Well I am tired of seeing players like Tupou jump over the top of our wingers with ease. We don't really speed on the wing, height and the ability to get over the line. I feel Ken will be good fit.

Happy with the signing, between the 3 wingers talked at the prices mentioned he seems the most cost effective. You dont go overboard paying for wingers

Definitely the most cost effective but I think he’s also the best winger of the three. Will be good to have a winger with a bit of height.

Sounds like warriors are signing DWZ to replace him... weird one.

Where you see that? Strange one indeed
