Kidwell To Be Coach Effective Immediately

Forgot to add if Payten or Kidwell have suddenly become the best candidates for the job , what have they actually done to become best candidates ??

Payten is not a good candidate. The bloke only retired a couple of years ago. He is a ROOKIE, who would be coaching some of the same players he used to miss the Top 8 with year in year out. Would be a nice, cheap, typical budget option.

Given a few more years experience he might be a good option, however to say he is a better candidate then most off 2 years with his L plates on, i just dont know how that can be.

I get it!! Game day is the focus (not the game) because after the game we'll have something to say. Yay!

Haha, and hopefully everything will fall into place on game day so we that we miss the 8…
Yay, a new season of Black Adder!

I thought his contract had a clause that he'd be extended automatically if the team made the 8?

Can anyone confirm those reports?

That clause was relative to last years performance.

They will do what the king of the tigers want the Farah way! And the boys club is reborn .

That's what I can't understand. If they had someone with credentials standing in the wings their decision might be justified ( and only might ), but for Kidwelly or Payton to be favourites it's nothing but a farce.
Bloody embarrassing to be a Wests Tigers fan

The timing and nature of this article…it's deadset rubbish given the stage of the season we are at, and the importance of today's game.

These sorts of articles can really destabilise a club, and while occasionally the team might band together and come out and play a blinder, I won't be surprised if we end up getting pumped today given all the innuendo surrounding the club at the moment. It's hard to remain focused when this crap is doing the rounds in the media.

If u cant see why Payten would be a good candidate then well…..

So what has he learnt or more to the point who has he learnt from in the past 18 months Simon ??

I see Todd Payten and I see Nathan Brown (ex Saints coach )

Yes an under 20 s coach with no senior coaching experience yes there are some real geniuses on this forum at times .

Personally i dont mind either way…...if peeps that matter dont rate him lets move on,if they do well lets keep him.Im not fussed. We arent going that great thats its a lay down mezzaire.

Thats how I see it. A few very good performances this year mixed in with dross for most of the year. Does Potter deserve credit for the good performances? Does Potter deserve criticism for the rest? I don't know. Difficult to judge the coaches performance in the circumstances.

My two criticisms of Potter are:

1\. the continually changing and chopping of young players. Akaoula is a great example. He has gone from the starting side a few weeks ago to being on the bench in State Cup; and
2\. the lack of any tactical innovation in attack. It was dreadful last year and has only got slightly better this year.

That being said Potter has also done very in assembling a well-balanced squad and deserves plaudits for that. But is that enough to overcome other weaknesses?

The old board making their last decision before the independents step in.

That's what I thought as well

The oldest trick in the book that was invented by our political parties, commission a report, define the terms of reference so you get the desired findings and of course appoint a person who will come up with the right findings. You than implement the findings and deflect all the anger towards the report and the person who made the report. It comes up trumps every time.

Mayer and our board are a spineless group of people

From ABC News: Tigers chief executive Grant Mayer responded to the story on his Twitter account.

"Hard to read some of this stuff today. Can assure you all that the club will communicate when there is something to say. Gameday is focus," Mayer said.

Well, he hasn't denied it. This board make that Parra P4 group or whatever they were called look like they ran Apple computers.

So Payten not experienced enough???
Won the premiership in 20's in his first season. Was high up in his second year, until injuries hit in the finals to key players. Then third year assistant coach in firsts!
Has coached all the young guys coming through the 20's into firsts, so knows them better and already has their respect.
Being young may help him be closer to the gen Y's!
Strong rumour has it that it was him that prompted farah to approach Tedesco, which leads you to think he is more in-touch with the players than the potter..
Not to mention that he was always a smart footballer (maybe smarter than his skill set)
I still cant believe that people still cant see that potter is just not there, look at the dressing room before and after the game he looks lost…
Remember support the club not the individuals...

Quote JC "Bloody embarrassing to be a Wests Tigers fan" And what about the sponsors?
Hear ye Hear ye come one come all to the greatest show on earth! Cue theme music "Under the Big Top"
We're all professionals here!

Valid points but surely he deserves some leeway for injury and board issues; or at least more respect than he's been shown.
Attacking plays Sunday with a full(er) strength team were inspired.

Don't know why people are bringing up Payten's credentials, that isn't the point. The point is there is no justifiable reason to punt him, especially if we win today and are back in the 8 given the expectations at the start of the yr and the injuries. They might as well admit to having sacked him due to dressing room politics cos thats the only thing thats going to do him in and we all know thats what the reason would be.

looks like potter's supposed poor communication skills is more than made up by a senior player and/or board member's excellent coimmunication skills to the media.quote]

If Potter is supposed to have poor communication skills then what about the Wests Tiger Management and Board's communication skills. They are treating Potter like absolute Clay.

I don't like their chances of trying to sway their current players to extend their contracts on the basis of "club loyalty" the same as they did with Tedesco,
