I wonder if someone tipped off Pascoe today at the members do

I was under the impression he was told to clear his locker earlier in the week. ….surelyPascoe and co would have known about this before today...

Yes… very odd that he was training on Thursday with no locker...

Named also in the Nines squad which is weird if they knew before hand. Innocent until proven guilty however I'm sure the NRL won't allow him to participate. I think the club needs to make an example of him and rip up his contract.

I was watching a video of the team announcement and thought it pretty odd out of the entire squad named, only Lovett was not there. I couldn't help but think of all the stuff that's been rumoured the last week. Then this news is announced a couple hours later. Very peculiar.

Thanks Mr Lovett for dragging the clubs name through the mud once more …am over these TOOLS ! sack him immediately totally over these guys bringing our club down..there is to much talk about what the club does or does not do ,who cares when you have to deal with these mental midgets!

Must have been in possession of Opium!
There's the Telegraphs Atrocity Meter being re-set to Zero.

Not sure that is fair. The atrocity was committed a month ago.

WESTS Tigers player Kyle Lovett will appear in court next month after police allegedly busted him with cocaine on a night out two days before Christmas.

Police said the 22-year-old Tigers utility was busted with the party drug between 1.30am and 2am at a location in Pyrmont on December 23.

He was charged with possession of an illegal drug and ordered to front the Downing Centre Local Court on February 1.

The development blindsided the Tigers on Saturday with the club admitting they were unaware of the charge Lovett was facing until being informed about them by The Sunday Telegraph.

The club released a statement on Saturday afternoon that said “upon learning of Lovett’s charge, Wests Tigers immediately alerted the NRL Integrity Unity this morning and the two parties are currently working together on the matter”.

“Wests Tigers are incredibly disappointed with Lovett and do not in any way condone his behaviour,” the statement said. “Wests Tigers will be making no further comment until the matter is resolved, both with the NSW Police and the NRL Integrity Unit.”

Further details of where Lovett was at the time he was busted will be revealed when he appears in court.

Lovett’s manager Sam Ayoub could not be reached to answer questions about whether Lovett will plead guilty to the charge or contest it.

The development could be a major headache for the Tigers who were trying to shift Lovett to another team to ease salary cap pressure despite him still being contracted to the club.

It was only on July 13 that reports emerged saying the Tigers told Lovett he was free to negotiate with another clubs if he could find an interested suitor.

The drugs charge could reduce the Tigers’ bargaining power in trying to convince another club to pay a portion of Lovett’s salary and ease their cap problems.

He was also named on Saturday to play in the Tigers’ Auckland Nines side, with the tournament to take place next month.

“Wests Tigers ensure that all players and staff receive the highest level of education in relation to drugs,” the team’s statement said. “The club takes the welfare and education of its players and very seriously with the Wests Tigers Wellbeing and Education department ranked second in the NRL in 2016.”

Can't believe how dumb some of these players are. In terms of career risks there are bigger than possession charges. Have already been a number of players banned for performance enhance drugs because they took a "party drug" that had been cut with performance enhancing drugs.
Surely he can't be in too much trouble? Corey Norman only got 8 weeks for possession, hanging with bikies and releasing sex tapes.

The Tele couldnt contact Ayoub? Ive heard it all now.

The drugs charge could reduce the Tigers bargaining power? Surely it would allow the Tigers to sack him outright? I could not believe that there isnt a clause about drug use?

We will now see if the culture of the Weststigers has changed ! am so glad that people find that alleged possession of cocaine not a big deal… let's hope the club does not have the same logic ...can not wait to see the culture change at the club in action (maybe) not holding my breath .

Do Tigers management have their heads where the sun don't shine? Blindsided by this news?

He wasn't saying its not a big deal, he was using Corey Norman as an example of the precedence set.

Maybe Ayoub couldnt talk at the time. Its hard to talk with several journalists (DELETED) in your mouth at once.

It still amazes me that these fools risk everything in this way. They just dont get how fortunate they are to be able to play a game they love and get really well paid for doing it.

Ironic that only a few days ago Pascoe was talking about Wests Tigers culture and core values when discussing Josh Aloiai;

"Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said the Club is delighted to have Aloiai extend his time with the team. “Josh is an outstanding young man who continually displays the core values of Wests Tigers – both on and off the field,” Pascoe said."

Especially guys like Lovett who are pretty expendable. He's not in a position where he's that valued that the club might take a soft stance like they would most likely do if it was a Tedesco or Moses. You would think this will serve as a lesson to others, but you know it won't.

His time at the Tigers is pretty much over now. It's bad enough that he was found in possession of coke, but to not tell the club about it when he has an obligation to do so is the nail in the coffin.
