Kyle Lovett gone?

The club hit him with a wet lettuce with a fine good behaviour and basically 2 premiership games.Weak in my opinion

Missing a trial game isn't really a punishment, nor is missing the Nines considering JT's indifferent attitude towards the tournament.

He will play most likely play reserve grade with his good buddy Milone and not have his contract renewed. Hope a super league club picks him up just like good ol Jack Buchanan.

Deserves a second chance imo. Would have preferred he paid the whole 15 grand to Beyond Blue rather than leaving 10 suspended.

So, we've dumped the Lovett news at the exact time when all the attention is on the round 1 teams. It wouldn't surprise me if he ended up staying after this year.

Interesting that Lovett's sentence is quite light compared to Tim Simona's predicted demise. Simona, if guilty was affecting the integrity of the game but a player knowingly suffering the after effects of drugs and playing NRL must also be affecting the integrity of the game. A highly possible scenario could be -a gambler or bookmaker knows that player X was on drugs before the game and therefore tailor their bets to suit, let alone a scenario that said gambler or bookmaker actually give the drugs to players X,Y and/or Z before the game.

Either way, zero tolerance for mine.

The club will still have to continue with paying him his contract money whilst he idles away in ISP. More money down the West Tigers' drain.

I think Lovett is perhaps the luckiest footballer in the comp. He wouldn't make most ISP team tbh. Plodder in every sense of the word. The club has however, handled this well. Many players are on the rack these days so it would send a message if you are a user don't come to WT. In fairy land that seems right but I suspect it would be 60% of players under 30.

Wests Tigers confirm Kyle Lovett sanctions
Wests Tigers Media Release
Tue 28th February, 06:00PM

Wests Tigers have today confirmed disciplinary measures imposed upon player Kyle Lovett.

Lovett was charged by NSW Police with possession of a small quantity of a prohibited substance on 23 December, 2016 and faced court on 1 February, 2017.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge and received a six-month good behaviour bond, while no conviction was recorded.

Lovett has since faced the Wests Tigers Board and the following sanctions are being imposed:

A $15,000 fine payable to Wests Tigers Charity Partner beyondblue, with $10,000 of that suspended
A four match suspension from any Wests Tigers game, with one game already being served at the NRL Auckland Nines and one at the trial match against the North Queensland Cowboys. The remaining two are to be served at the beginning of the 2017 NRL or Intrust Super Premiership seasons
A six month commitment to rehabilitation and counseling sessions of Wests Tigers’ choosing
Six months community service
The Club has treated this matter very seriously and has ensured that the correct process has been followed when determining these sanctions.

Wests Tigers will be making no further comment on the matter.

I know for a period of time and may still do Brisbane acknowledge there was a bad culture in footy in that good players were not being treated harshly by administration when caught drugs . As a result Brisbane introduced their own internal random drug testing and a system for offenders along the lines of receiving support and 3 strike rule you are out. No matter who you were same rules applied. tigertown should introduce something similar.

What a load of rubbish. I will be disappointed if a mediocre talent with a drug bust gets a run in FG again with our club.

You should probably prepare to be disappointed then.
