Lachlan Galvin #277 *Megathread*

Our club signed Galvin, TDS and co under the noses of powerful clubs including Canterbury. We did well and our staff involved in the identification, retention and development should be congratulated. This was a big win for WTs
Another minor battle win but not the war. Who is the last junior we have developed that has gone on to be a champion with the WT? We always lose them to the top clubs where they become champions.

Gould could have been owned. He was about 50% owned by virtue of Chammas asking hard questions, but he didn't bring any receipts and he was steamrolled.

Gould was rattled, but ultimately was able to avoid it by talking over him and never really let Chammas get his point across.
I agree with this. The headlines are misleading. It did bring to the surface the blatant lies though and Gould isn’t completely devoid of accountability.

Freddie is a great judge.
He is one of the only people about that has experienced what Galvin is going through. Schoolboy prodigy entering first grade young and left the club that groomed him to chase fame and fortune elsewhere.
Won premierships, SOO series, World Cups, Test series, captained everything, won all the awards, is in the hall of fame, coached first grade and NSW and is considered a strong chance of one day being awarded immortal status. He has also remained in and around the sport as a commentator and expert for the better part of 2 decades.
Just keep him away from kiss cam 😂

. By working on the contract proposal for weeks and then being blindsided by the decision, it doesnt appear this happened at all.

You have to appreciate the arrogance...

He requested multiple releases before he debuted, He requested releases after he debouted.
Then he came dead last and the club was shocked he wasn't looking to stay.

I mentioned at the time that Galvins wording after it died down was only that
he was looking to finish his contract at Tigers - Not that he saw a career here.
I'm no genius, But if I saw it and heard it - Surely someone else in management did?

100%.
It appears they, and many on here did not.

Maybe Richo was overconfident in his ability to negotiate. He seemed like he felt he was a winner with the sell of making Galvin our John Sutton. Daddy Galvin said “thanks, but no thanks”

To be fair - Comparing Galvin and Freddy is Chalk and Cheese, I see it all the time
- It not remotely similar outside the amount of birthdays they've had.

Freddy debuted young - But came into a team of seasoned rep level players ready to challenge for a comp with a General like Brandy running the show.

Galvin came into a team of Wooden Spooners, With 1 decent player and was tasked with dragging it around - Sezer did shit, Galvin was the general last year....
Great development plan!!

Im not comparing them, Im saying he has experienced similar things. He understands the situation better than most as he lived it, albeit differently and better

I was dissappointed with Smith. he has as much knowledge of the game as Gould and he could have added some weight to the Chammas side. The problem was though, Chammas was stating widely held opinions and was talking about Gould and the Dogs like Phil wasnt there and was easily interrupted and stalled by Gould stating 'thats not true'. He needed the receipts to say you said this on this date, you did that on this date etc...
An evidence based argument would have made Gould look a right liar last night. He certainly got under his skin, but didnt deliver a knock out blow for mine.
100% with the evidence. I didn’t expect channel 9 to tee up any supporting footage they had, but Chammas should’ve had that stuff written down - direct quotes, a timeline. As you say, that would really have finished Gould off.

I’m sure Chammas and Gus shook hands and had a chuckle once the cameras went off. Anyone who thinks these shows aren’t heavily produced are kidding themselves. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that Gus and Gallen are always at each others throats. Not a ratings ploy at all 🙄

Of course it is, because as far back as HM, WTs resisted the efforts of clubs including Canterbury to get under our guard. The club can only do so much.

What a lot of Hot C*ck
- Galvins old man convinced Gallant to get him back from Parra because he wasn't getting a run.
Even to the point of offering to pay the Transfer fee if the club couldn't be convinced.
Where's the Wests Tigers glory in that exactly?
- Losing him to begin with then being begged to buy him back by his parents?
You're on Drugs!

What the club should get credit for is 'stupidly' signing them up to top end contracts long term before they'd even done anything...
But how many of those contracts have held up?
Miller - No, Galvin - No, Tallyn - Well, Maybe...
I could care less to find the others...

Keep polishing your Richo and Benji Statues pws
- Wasn't that long ago you were waxing lyrical about Richo was holding Galvin to contract and you had full faith in his word.
Well, Now there's no Galvin 165k nothing but to replace him with, and no one to spend it on.
#Dreamer

He wasnt "owned" at all. He was Irritated, even upset.
He wasnt shamed or fully exposed and thats what you have to do when you go after someone big like him.

It's funny how one sided people see what Gus says - Go and listen to it ALL again....
Most peoples problem with Gus is he's the smartest bloke in most rooms he's in.

Im not comparing them, Im saying he has experienced similar things. He understands the situation better than most as he lived it, albeit differently and better
Apologies, I wasn't meaning you specifically....

More expanding on it and referencing all the talk around Goulds comments about him being the best 18 year old he'd seen....
Everyone throws up Freddy, Daley and whoever else - Cracks me up.

No one they could throw up as a comparison,
had to come into the organisation, coaching and team that Galvin did last year at his age
- and do what he did.

No one!!

I listened to it.
All I heard is him contradicting things he'd already said because he didn't have the mental capacity to remember all his lies.
I also heard him refuse to let Chammas speak, a common tactic to not allow facts to be heard from the other side.
I heard bluster and bravado.
I'm sure HE believes he's the smartest bloke in the room, but we'll never know because he's too scared of his own failings to allow anyone else to speak.
