OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

If this is true, and this is the 3-4th time he's asked to get out, or needed some guarantee that he will be in 1st grade etc...

As I've said from the start- we ARE going to lose some players before we get these 'promising juniors' populating the top side. That includes losing some of these juniors themselves.

Just as an interesting aside- Galvin is on a slightly improved contract this season. His biggest rival at the club is reported to be on a 4 year $500k per season contract without ever securing his 1st grade position.

I wonder which player is more highly regarded in the club?

Luai isn't coming here to play Reserve Grade. That means EITHER Galvin or Fainu, with an outside chance of Sullivan or Sezar, plays alongside Luai.

It can't be BOTH Fainu & Galvin. Unless one of them is destined for a different position.

If I'm Mr & Mrs Galvin- I wonder if this is the equation I'm looking at & realising that a move away is in the best interests of their son?
If I am a GM at another club and watching this play out, I am thinking what am I getting myself into? Injury, loss of form or boom junior who is better and Lachie needs to be shifted to another position, or god forbid - dropped, am I going to have numerous requests to leave from Mum and Dad, manager and co for a release?

Agreed.

If the reports are true- this looks like a long term headache.

Not many clubs retain this type of head ache for long.

If the problem is him the problem can be and should be worked on by the club management and coaching squad,if however it is his parents it is a lot harder especially if he listens to them as his main source of advice.I certainly don't want to lose him but there are limits on what should be done, luckily we now have Richo in charge

Crazy how fast everyone turns. As supporters we know the club is a mess, yet clutch the pearls when players who are capable of being in a better team, don’t want to be apart of the mess.

The kid is 18 and has played a handful of NRL games. No one would have known how capable he was if he wasn't given a chance, which he more than likely wouldn't have gotten at a less messy club. Not asking for undying loyalty but at least riding out half of your rookie season without having a sook would be a start

To be fair- I think all fans understand Galvin is the type of player, skill-wise, the club requires.

But we don't necessarily lose based on skill.

The 'volunteers not prisoners' ideal is actually important. For the club to turn things around- the players need to be invested. Canberra is a great example of a club built on this. Less skillful than most teams- but they WANT to play together.

The Tigers can afford to lose skill if it gains commitment. Not 100% of skill, obviously, but that desire to be at the club needs to be a priority.

I think people, fans, in general understand this & that is a driver for wanting to move the malcontents on.

I agree with you, but surprisingly i see Galvin as more of an effort player then skilful one.

It'll be good for him. He can learn a new lesson in life, you make a commitment, you see it through.
Clearly the people around him are having a bit of trouble with that.

But is he staying coz he wants to or coz he has to ? Big difference !!!
18 year olds died on d day on the beaches of Normandy because they where doing the right thing according to themselves when they signed up. 80 years ago last week.

Here is a 18 year old who might be pushed around by his parents?
He can piss off to perth...and some more to mars and when he gets to mars ..hopefully out of the milky way.

i'm sure as they landed...second thoughts your out of luck.

Im going to be honest something is wrong with this guy. If he is still here next year i will not be a member.
18 years old and has asked to be released 4 time in 6 months?
That is more than weird.

Second Row...cough cough...wide ball player...cough cough...Gavin Miller..cough cough..

I'm pretty confident that's where he will end up. He may not like it, but he is already a little slow for 5/8. 3 years and some bulk, he will be either a Yeo type lock or John Cartwright type backrower.

If he goes to Penrith he most certainly will end up at lock replacing Yeo

These players that want out are a part of the problem in a losing team , it’s time they man up and help their mates dig themselves out of the hole instead of carrying on like sooks and thinking they can go elsewhere
They need constant reassurance that quality troops are on the way.
I hope Richo has some confidential news to tell them on recruits, but just can't be announced before 1st Nov or whatever?
Strictly confidential info that cannot be mentioned beyond the room. Especially to Mosses!

Reminds me of Cush from Jerry Maguire. We are getting Cushlash.

He’s not replacing Yeo.
Yeo would be one of the first picked every week and will be for the next 5 years.

It is far easier to have the "right" attitude in a one team town or city like Canberra compared to being in an area where you don't even have to move home to find other clubs that would like to have you. What makes it worse for us is the fact that we have been the worst managed club in a city for over a decade where all players can move to more attractive clubs without leaving home.
Our crap executive/board over the years is really starting to hurt despite them trying to change for the better recently

I suspect all 16 other clubs would have some interest in Galvin… if he became available on the open market he would remain there about as long as Ice did … around 24 hours before someone signing him
