OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

Waiting for all the blokes who want to drop him and put Latu in his place to come out of the shadows. Outplayed the 1.3 million dollar man with ease today.
Not bad for a kid.
No one who was critical of Galvin thinks that. It was more in context of the talk of big money contracts and moving clubs when he has a lot to learn still.

He's a good player, but $1 million or more is for good player + consistency. It's why people are so baffled at the Brown deal.

Further, I think fans can see the club is in decent shape and don't want to be mucked around by a greedy manager trying to squeeze every last cent out of us, while simultaneously having us in the papers each week about the issue.

Let's put it this way. His manager can come out tomorrow and say give us $xxx and we will sign now...but no, he's going to market. You can see why people say if he's not committed, let's move on fast so it doesn't derail what we are building.

I hope we keep him, but I hope we don't end up blowing our cap to do it.

The club's plan, if true, to offer an extension is good. If he rejects the offer, the club can prioritise which player partners Luai and benefits from his experience and knowledge. Richardson is a very good operator and has done exceptionally well to provide Marshall with a much improved team and move along certain players. I believe this is a strategic move which may not have occurred prior to Richardson's appointment.

Has had done an amazing job who would have thought

If little Man Lee was still here what a cluster Fu#K it would still have been

Galvin is a guy who will get better and better each time
6 months from now I predict he will be in elite class
So now is the time to lock him up 2027 - 2030
He's ours 2025/2026 but other clubs are free to talk to him Nov 1 this year
I think Parra will definitely make a play
From now till Nov 1 we are the only club allowed to negotiate with him
He looks very happy atm
PS I think Shape would be an amazing pick up ( hope Brown squeezes him out )

After their start to the season the eels have very little chance of attracting Galvin or Luai as some journos were suggesting last week .
This is an astonishing observation to say tne least. I understand from a fan point of view. How ever - does it in juxtaposition to your valid observation - looking at perennial wooden spooners - get Luai to us? I'd appreciate some clarity or even foot notes. And im not talking about a slow start to a season - but 3 wooden spoons. What do you believe makes Galvin different to Luai in terms of money.

Our roster is significantly stronger than Parramatta's. They are on a rapid decline which even Stevie Wonder can see, our coach was a superstar who attracted superstars. Ryles was a meathead front rower who will struggle to attract players, the fact that they have lost Sanders, Talagi and Brown speaks volumes.

I hear you. But can you please talk about the part of water front homes - beautiful cars - tax free indexation, world holiday travels, stardom on this continent - no money problems for the better part of your life. Thats all.

Hopefully Galvin signs an extension, we have latu fainu he no doubt will be a good halves partner for Luai however he is not and will never be a Glavin,

Galvin will be elite at the end of his career possibly from a 6 to a ball playing 13 like fitlwr and yeoh. If we fail to re-sign Galvin it will be a big blow to the club
We all hope he re-signs, but we have a contingency in place should he not. Bula demonstrated last game while playing 5/8 as well as fullback, that pace, acceleration and ball playing are required in the halves. He made breaks and created opportunities against the Eels. Fainu has these attributes as well as a strong defensive technique. I am not going to compare players noting that you refer to a switch from 6 to 13 for Galvin.

Seeing what Dylan Brown got probably got him thinking...
And the hole Brown will leave, closer to home, big bucks and Moses beside him. I’d say Parra would be favourites unless we make the 8, that might convince him to stay with us and win the comp in 26 !.

The only thing that I think will see him re-sign before November 1 is a Brown type deal, which we obviously won’t offer. At worst he wants out yesterday. At best he wants to know his market value. I honestly couldn’t care less either way. I’ll never get emotionally invested in a long drawn out re-signing saga again after losing Tedesco..

The way the hype around him is growing all the bids for his signature will probably start somewhere around the 1mil mark anyway, it will be between us and a team with a sound roster and coach.
Our advantage may be if by the time our offer is presented we win more than we lose, look how happy he was last game with his teammates don't under estimate the urge to play on with his mates will have on him.
We don't have to make the eight to keep him, but we have to be competing for it at least until the last 1 or 2 rounds. If he thinks we're not far off he'll probably extend.

Big question is how to frame the offer.
He’s currently on 250, next year due to go to 350. Now be we all know that’s not going to happen so do we reframe our offer to 500k next year, 750 in 27 and a Mill in 28 or is someone going to gazump us at that.
Surely we don’t go a crazy figure and therein lies the problem. The old lion Gould is laying in the long grass and will stone the fire with him. Or did go all in and say $1m in 26, 1.1 in 27, 1.2 in 28 and 1.3 in 29.
And what if he doesn’t develop like we think. Another financial disaster like Brooks ! Remember, we been here before.
I don’t know the correct answer but look forward to forum feedback.

Exact opposite.

1m next year or even 1.5 if possible. Front load any long term contract so that we free up cap in 2027.
We have a decent spine in Api, Luai, Galvin and Bula. Lock away more cap now. I expect 2026 we should be close to breaking the top 8 and it is then that we are going to want to be doing some serious upgrades.

Just a pro vs con
Pro:
Friends
Familiar team
Has the position he wants.

Con:
Unprofessional training for last 2x years.
Greedy agent who will push for more money.
3 spoons.

After typing that out, I think we can tell what will happen. If we don't win 50% of our next 5 games, 100% Galvin will leave.
