OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

Im glad that I have never really fully weighed in on this topic until now.

This week has been a rollercoaster of emotions in relation to the events surrounding Galvin. Here are my thoughts on the situation.

Initially, when I heard the news that Galvin knocked us back, I was a potent mixture of disappointed and angry. I was disappointed that we could not keep a junior with such obvious promise at this club. Im hearing a shitload of people saying words to the tune of "He ain't all that" and "Latu will be better than him". Those words come from understandable disappointment to be losing a player with his potential. This reaction never happened when we lost a player like Jock Madden for instance.

On the other hand, Im angry at the way this was handled by his management. They are well within their rights to knock our offer back. But, to not even look at the offer we put together smacks of disrespect. I could even accept that though. What I CANNOT accept is the disrespectful comments aimed towards the coach and flows down to his teammates. That is unacceptable from Galvin and the people that manipulate him to act that way.

You'll notice that I used the word "manipulate" in the previous sentence. I have heard Galvin speak twice.....one was a radio interview late last season and the other was part of being in a "Fletch and Hindy" skit tonight. What had really struck me in those two media spots is that although he is 18 or 19, his maturity levels are FAR below that. Don't confuse maturity with intelligence. In both of those media spots, he seems like an absolute kid, not a money hungry bastard.

He is an adult and should be responsible for his actions. But, I have absolutely no doubt in the world he is heavily manipulated by his manager to take the actions that he has done this week......and that is pretty irresponsible to put this guy through the absolute ringer by sports and social media this week. They absolutely had to have known his actions would have cause this reaction from the media and general public. A part of me feels sorry for the kid in that way....he does not have the maturity to comprehend the outcome from all of this....but unfortunately for him, he has bought a ticket to get into this circus, he will have to go through it.

Finally, our club has clearly grown off the paddock since Richo took over. Benji was an absolute star with the way he spoke today. I will be the first to admit that I had big question marks over him being the head coach of this club with no previous coaching experience. But, the way those players put in for him every week and the absolute humility with what he had to say today, he has basically won me over today. The Galvin thing could be the absolute making of Benji as a coach.

Our captains also spoke very well and Richo's strong tone is setting our club up for success. Yet, another strong day for our club.

According to Kenty the deal is done, he’s off to the slimers. The only business to be sorted is when. Kenty is pretty excited, like he’s halfway down the straight riding hands and heels, 6 lengths clear.

We will win this Comp in 2025 - punt now!

Was a BS con job..false advertising replaying an old skit with fletch hindy....lying pricks glad i wasnt the only one that heard it
Yep. Pure TV click bait.

I couldn't believe it when I saw the graphic reading Galvin was going to be on the show after the game.

Then the next one said Galvin and Luai, so my hopes they'd erected an octagon in the studio soared!

Then it was the old crap.

Was this meant to be a joke?! Because I can't even imagine who would find it funny; It's basically an annoying "psyche!" kids joke....

My biggest fear for Monday is that we try to bash Parra and end up with 3 in the bin due to the recent over the top high shot crap! My advice - just hit em hard and make every tackle a Bungy Jump!
I don't think that's the case. At least not from the galvin issue. Not yet anyway..first game vs galvin will be different. But I'm certain tigers will put in for Benji this week

I respect your post and time, seriously, but I think the way he was all cuddled up at training yesterday, that some of this was already known before it happened. Almost a little orchestrated. Media got their fix, and what was already known, occurred, in whatever way it was going to play out. I hope he kills it in KOE and we welcome him back for the rest of the season. If not, band aid gone.

Well said, I think that basically summarises how 90% of our supporter base feel.

Last year when team Galvin basically demanded an overhaul of our assistant coaching roster is probably the key to this saga. He obviously wanted Vella or someone like Larkins to be given a gig. When it turned out to be Hogo and Rhino, this upset the apple cart.

From where I sit, if Galvin had basically said I am rejecting the offer and going to the market in November. I would like to thank the Weststigers and everyone involved in my NRL journey but in my heart I think it’s time to move on at the end of my contract. As a fan of course I would be disappointed but that’s football. Sadly to try and justify your actions by trashing the coach is a very low act and reflects Galvin in a terrible light. I think both Moses and his Parents are probably the ones at fault who have pushed Galvin down this path.

The NRL world is a fickle place, at present the pro Galvin and anti Galvin news has dominated the press, but in a week or two it will hardly rate a mention and Galvin will probably get a release

Wait! What?? Team Galvin demanded an overhaul of the assistant coaching roster?? OK, that makes the "only has mates as assistant coaches" spiel make sense. But who on earth thinks they can tell their coach who he should employ??? Far out!

It's ironic that some in the media have questioned why the WT tried to do this offer now. Why bring it all to a head. The same people previously saying WT should get on top of this before Nov 1.
Since the start of the season there has been discussion about Gal and what he would do. This was only ever going to intensify as the season went on. I think it was Riccio weeks ago who was saying Moses had told everyone to "get your cheque books ready" ( the name may be wrong but the quote is real).
WT have been down this path before, being strung along and used only for leverage. Go back to Mitchell Moses recent contract negotiations, it happened then, with no intent to ever come to WT.

Richo is no fool, it had been reported for weeks that he was preparing to sit down and table an offer. In fact someone had even hinted a deal had been done or agreed to. ( rumours hey 🙄) I think Richo was trying to get confirmation of something he already suspected and subsequently confirmed. Instead of being strung along, WT attempted to make an incredible offer to a 19 year old, whose manager refused to even look at and were informed it wouldn't be reviewed. Clarity..... a clear path forward. No speculation on whether Galvin will stay or go, he's going.

One has to ask though, if the Galvin clan was so against it, why did Isaac even show up? Why didn't he just say we are not prepared to listen to any offers at this time so there is no point in coming in for a meeting? Instead, he allegedly turned up, said don't present your offer, we are not staying and then started to carry out a hatchet job on Marshall. It sounds personal, very personal.

There were allegations Gals first release request was straight out of SG Ball after he had to play 2nd row instead of 5/8, IF this is true then I think it's a fair reflection on a me first not team first attitude and I can see why this would put team mates offside. Once he goes somewhere else, he will be able to hide that for a while, but it will eventually come to the fore again. I'm not going to sit here and say we dodged a bullet, he has lots of ability and could be anything. He will be a loss, but when questioned by media about shifting positions in the past, I have never heard him say "I'll do whatever is best for the team". That to me is a little bit of a red flag.

Of course it’s BS from Gould…he probably had some interest in Galvin up to a few days back, if he managed to shake himself loose from the WT, but they were hinting on 360 that Gould might be off Galvin now as it looks like he comes with a few high maintenance issues and he has the potential to get teammates offside …

But Gould won’t care for a microsecond whether his machinations may have played even a small part in this…onto the next
Ciraldo could get Galvin to wrestle the whole squad at training to show them that he's just a regular guy and get him onside with the boys.
