OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

I reckon that last bit needs to happen this year, as soon as Latu is fully fit, he comes in at 6.
Agree, Gal is not ready to start as NRL lock or srf in our team. He still gets swatted away and manhandled by the adults. But yeah off the bench this year and next year we have a lock, srf, who can cover backs. At only $250k.
As soon as we play him on the bench or in the forwards you watch the manager work up a storm again.
It’s best for us this year he stay’s and plays in the same dynamic we started the year with and look to next year as next year. Latu should come off the bench and start defending out at 6 to get used to that a bit but continue to play through the middle in attack.
In a perfect team with a perfectly fit Latu he replaces Bird for mine. I think our forwards including our bench in Sione, Hunt have built up their endurance to be able to handle more time in the forwards. I guess you lose the utility value Bird has. It’s a tough but good headache for Benji but I wouldn’t be making forced changes without injuries or form being the reason.
Next year however, preseason starts with Latu as our 6 and a key component of our spine. That’s a whole preseason to work on that, not a space of a week.

agree latu off the bench to replace bird then you have 2 attacking threats in the field with luai

I can't fathom the push to throw Latu in as soon as he's fit in place of Galvin.
He may have all the attributes and potential but the simple fact is he hasn't proven it in first grade.
Despite the constant bagging of Galvin (mostly unwarranted and sour grapes) we are a far better team if he is in it.
Latu will get his chance... but I learnt a long time ago not to cut off your nose to spite your face.

For those body language experts out there, watch Matty Johns Show tonight with guest Adam Reynolds. When Fletch & Hindy were talking about Luai-Galvin, Reynolds never said a word and looked very uncomfortable. Hmmmmmmmm
I think it was the sofa. Someone left the carrot on the sofa. You know Fletch and Hindy..always the jokers....

I thought they were joking because Nathan Hindmarsh already knew he was a done deal to Parramatta.
While we're making stuff up, how about Reyno being very uncomfortable because Richo has already been in his ear about being at the Tigers next year and as part of the deal he also knows that Galvin will be at the Parra-sites next year, but he's not real sure about how much Fletch and Hindy know, so best not to go there and say nothing.

For me I think galvin looks at luai like a coach, not a teammate. Especially when you consider benji's dynamic with his senior players. Very reliant on them
AS he should ..Luai has 5 grand finals , 4 rings . State of Origin success , deciders and played with the very best of the very best , Galvin should be learning off him like a sponge instead of competing with him

I don't think we can afford dropping bird. He's too valuable if we get an injury, as seen vs the dragons where he came into centres for Naden.

He also said "We don’t have to all be best mates... "
Interesting thing to say about a team mate.

Michael Jordan was that way with his team. Not necessarily about being best mates, it's about winning. Joey Johns was the same way I beleive

Funny, I remember Luai being discussed as Jordan like with his approach to the game etc early last year. Can’t unfortunately remember who quoted it.

Wouldn’t be experimenting with LG in first grade, he’s still learning his trade in the spine.

If we don't want him at 6 - Sell him.

Will be a battle to have him see out the Contract at 6,
Moving him to be made to look silly in the back row would be the stupidest of stupid moves.

He sees out his time here at 6 or not at all... I'd near put my house on it.

Seems like a similar player to Royce Hunt. Hard to carry two players like that on a bench.
Not really, we just need to strengthen the supports.
No galvin looked over and then quickly left. Watch it again and you might see it

Think the overall hype on galvin is a bit overboard however i would be prepared to say galvin is the better 6 over latu fainu and galvin will have a better career than latu fainu. The team is better with galvin in it than not.
I wouldnt be changing the team too much this year

if latu is fit and we do look to the future I would like to see in 2026 galvin staying and he perhaps plays lock or second row from bench for that year and give latuna run at 6 and jack bird potentially the one dropping off the bench

if we had latu fainu on the bench you can move galvin to centre or second row
Or the position of ‘Left Right Out’

If you take the emotion out of things and want a chance to play finals Galvin right now is our best option beside Luai.

We have no rush to move him and why would we help another club over ourselves. He isn’t breaking the bank either. We are still getting value for money.

I’m a huge Latu fan but the kid doesn’t need that pressure - he needs to just focus on getting game time which has been a major problem for him over the last 3-4yrs. If he can’t play most games we need Galvin anyway as we have no other option.
