OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

No other club is forced to give up its best young players as soon as they catch people's attention. Until the NRL acts to stop this kind of bastardry, the Tigers will only ever be a feeder club - basically a reserve club that's allowed to play in the top grade to give the lads experience before they go join a proper club.

No one in the NRL cares about us unfortunately

And a window upon which to display their blossoming potential skills and abilities.

Should be transfer fees put on pathways players moving once they pass 3 years in the club system , Galvin at $ 165 with his potential and already played first grade nrl should have been $ 500 k ,,NRL have been taken over by the players association and are now ham strung , they the nrl need to get tough and if the players won’t to do the old we won’t play , tear that players contract up and throw them out of the NRL owned and run comp , start with Clint Newton dick head

I was thinking this very thing yesterday.
Unfortunately, this club has been in a hole that it dug for itself for a long time. To climb out of the hole, the team has to start winning games consistently and to do that we need a squad and coach that are prepared for a slog. For some time now we have been stuck in a loop where experienced players have come for the money but not the slog and young talent comes our way as a stepping stone on their paths to individual greatness. None have been in it for the team.
The light in the tunnel comes from experienced players in key positions that are up for the challenge, and embody a team culture. We have a few of those but clearly need more. We cant afford to be distracted by players with loser mentalities who come here to cruise either for the money or the advancement opportunities.
I'm not convinced about Marshall as the coach but from my perspective the overall coaching staff and structure looks OK.
The backroom management needs to be rock solid if this club is to succeed. I dont know enough about it to comment further, other than, it appears to be better now than it has in the recent past.
The NRL, Vlandys et al are not going to help us. Conversely they are busy adding teams to the competition and thus further spreading out the already thin stock of exceptional playing talent.
As fans we just have to accept what Marshall, Luai, and Koroisau seem to accept that it's going to be a slog.

Bullying claims must be serious otherwise $165000 is definitely not enough, when compared to the million he could be getting next year.
Yea, ah... you really expect Issac Moses to be serious and not play silly games?

I suspect the 165000 is the figure we need to land the next big fish we are chasing.

So the Punk wants to be tutored by a better Coach….i wonder when the Dogs hired This Vella guy that Galvin seems to be infatuated by?…and what is his role?…never seen him in the coaches box with JT…If Gus hired this Vella guy this year we all know why…
A failed reserve grader , who retired early through injury . Worked his way into the wests fields coaching job .
Here’s the thing there’s no way on earth he would have learnt more than someone like Benji , simply by the fact that he would have had to study nrl doctrine to get even a glimpse at some of these nrl strategies . If Benji was paying attention even the slightest bit , his knowledge base would be far greater than a guy who’s only right now, like this year, getting access to truely elite coaching .
I’m not talking about ability , I’m merely talking about information . And access to it . You don’t know what you don’t know ! You can pick the brains of people who have been in those situations , yes sure , but you yourself have never been there .
So how can a guy who’s simply never been there, tell anyone what is or isn’t good coaching . And why would anyone listen to him like he’s the oracle of information .
The whole thing is just “wests tigers are a bunch of dum dums and nuffies” group think .
It’s infested nsw as well . the club did it to itself . There’s no doubt about it , but if prospects are listening to failed reserve graders rather than nrl system coaches … then that’s just beyond stupid . Even someone like Benji , who you can say was chosen too soon or whatever, he’s still winning nrl games . Not as many as we would all like . But if you have NFI you’re not winning anything . The standards at that level being so high , that the difference between an off day vs a team on a good day , is often 50 points . We’ve had our fair share of those under Benji , sure , but we’ve also towelled a few up ourselves .
There’s no way that anyone who’s coaching below nrl standard , who’s never been exposed to the training and coaching strategies even as a player could ever just jump straight into that level . If you’re an ex player , especially in a key position like a spine player , I think you’re probably going to ok . Considering most of those guys towards the end of their career , start taking on leadership / mentoring roles , and often influence game plans and strategies , simply because been there done that .

You joined WTF at 1pm yesterday and you reckon you know @Tucker and the forum well enough to tell Tucker to "give it a rest".
Sounds to me like you may be a regular on here and you are now using another name for some strange reason.
People do that sometimes on here, I thought you of all people would know that?

So if we came 16th last year with an extra win, he would be considered a good coach in your eyes?

What's your assessment of Ivan Cleary this year?
He’s literally the only person I’ve seen say the team last year was anything other than bottom of the league standard . I thought so at the time . The proof was in the eating , and we sucked. It is what it is . The talent wasn’t there . We sign 4 good players and immediately we are equal 8th. And up there . The only reason half these teams are within a shout is they have had their second bye already , so it’s messing with the ladder . There’s will be some clubs who will be having their 3rd bye when we get our 2nd . The ladder won’t level itself out until round 20 .

Richardson said that we would not be releasing him before the bullying accusations were made. Once they were made how did people expect that the players and the coach could line up next to him and if they dropped him the claims would be further intensified and the focus on Galvin would continue - Moses would make sure if it.
Parra and the Bulldogs moved on players as soon as the claim was made - they knew it was untenable . This was a plan to get out him of his contract and the Galvins have gone along with it to get what they wanted after trying to get out of his contract on numerous times previously.
This is all on them.
Turning on Richardson and Benji as a Wests Tigers supporters is really difficult to understand, unless it's an opportunity to pile on two people who you never backed anyway.

So if we came 16th last year with an extra win, he would be considered a good coach in your eyes?

What's your assessment of Ivan Cleary this year?
Of course not. You set the parameter of not coming last. I think both spoons were avoidable with better coaching, given the roster.
Ivan is a victim of his own success. You can’t lose great players year on year on year and still perform without it catching up to you. Additionally those who remain have played a lot more footy in the past 5 years than most guys in the NRL. They are weary and starting to breakdown. The next man up philosophy is still working, however that cupboard is also getting bare as great young backups have been forced out over the years, again due to the success of the club. All these factors weigh heavy and motivation/desire seems to be the area where they are suffering in.
Ivan is an excellent coach and I have no doubt he has identified this year as a rebuild. It’s likely Penrith will work in a cycle like the Roosters do I.e. a string of great years then an off year or two to recompose themselves before storming back.
I’ll put it to you…if the salary cap wasn’t an issue like several other big global sports, how long would this dynasty have lasted? You could put a team together of players forced out of that club over the past 4 years who would beat their current lineup. That’s a crazy situation that us Tigers supporters have never and likely will never experience. Trying to compare Cleary to Marshal is frankly a ridiculous thing to do.

I get what your saying and I agree.

When players can just walk out of contracts... they will.

Yet, we need to think differently. Easts for some bizarre reason has a stack of loyality from their players, Why? I mean seriously they have thrown good players to the wind so many times before. Angus C was almost going to be thrown out of there.

Somehow Easts, Manly and a few other clubs have built a culture where players want to stay. We need to do the same, yes winning would help, but there is clearly something else with Easts.

Yet another Galvin artcile today this time by Weedler, stating how poor Lachie will miss out on being selected for Origin 2 camp so he can get a taste of what his future rep environment will be like....Sheez the grovelling by this guy is incredible....such a scum of a reporter.....

Seriouis question: If there were a competition for the most written up NRL player in 2024 -2025 Galvin would win hands down by the length of the straight....

Yeah i saw that - poor kid has been so under developed at the tigers that he is already in the frame as a future blue. The irony. Saw another report about why dogs did an about turn and decided to sign him. This one was from Riccio - reckons dogs went off Sexton in Canberra game because he couldn't close out a set with a repeat set on 2 occasions. Yet somehow they believe the kid can - lol - they obviously haven't been watching his games too closely.
This kid will be an Immortal before he is 22 the way the media overhype him.

Spot on, blithering on about his bravery….. The Weed’s obviously super hot for Moses

Probably a backer with lots of cash-not wishing to cast aspersions on car salesmen or mortgage brokers.
