OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

You have ZERO idea on what has happened behind the scenes in this club to make ANY comparisons ;
Just on the information that we do know about , and you can argue S many have we should never have caved to Galvin to begin with , but I’ll run you through the things we/I do know ;
1. Galvin and his camp requested a release on the back of the tigers signing Latu Fainu , and at that time the stories that we were chasing Luai.
2. A second release request , around first grade time , and the now announced signing of The NSW number 6 .
3. The coach decides after really poor results to start the the 24 season that’s he’s going to go full youth movement . Starts sounding ideas off the kids , really pissing off Bateman , Sezer and Klemmer .
4. Bateman has the worst game he’s ever played whilst captain of the club. Gets a spray from benji for it , and in the heat of the moment reveals that the older players are sick of the entitlement of the kids ( Galvin 💯, my guess probably TDS as well ).
5. that relationship is irreparable , Bateman is let go . The rest of the team start to see this kid with a smile on his face is a bit of a dickhead .
6. Luai starts with the club , standards are lifted , he takes a real shining to Latu Fainu , they connect , and look connected when training together . It’s pretty obvious . The team looks really connected .
7. Lachlan is starting to get distant with the team , it looks to all coincide with the timing around Benji now constantly in private conversations with luai all the time , and the whisper that luai prefers Latu .
8. Luai and Galvin start having a few disagreements around the team and standards . It’s obvious they don’t like each other .
9. It all erupts . It turns out Galvin has been making a list of all the negative interactions he’s had , and doesn’t want to resign / also the players have word that he’s been negotiating with other clubs . ( because everyone knew around February . So if Joe blogs off the street knew , the players definitely knew) .
10. Galvin starts playing hero ball instead of being where he’s supposed to in multiple games . Finally the club decides to piss him off .

That’s the timeline of what happened .
You’re on drugs if you think that a player has ever even thought about 80% of that , at the panthers . They all STFU and do what they’re told , until they get a seat / earn a seat at the table . Not the Galvins .

I think I heard on a podcast today , that he had a sook to the undefeated Harold Matt’s coach that he should be playing fullback instead of Lualiii , who had been braining it all season .
That’s the kid we are talking about .! Just a simply bad attitude .
This where the club has to be better . Knowing the difference between confidence - and arrogance . Between saying all the right things and doing all the right things .
The kid is Bo Callahan from Draft Day . We just didn’t have a Kevin Costner to spot it …. Talented , but a complete oxygen thief .
The panthers club spots these guys way earlier than that . It’s why they pissed off Matt Lodge. They May boys were given a long leash because of thier talent , eventually they were too much to handle , and so on .
We obviously didn’t put enough effort into the person , or didn’t want to see it .
And that’s why this is playing out in the news .
Excellent summation my friend , I like the way you put it mate.. makes a lot of sense

Even if he was “owned”, what’s it going to amount to. This story is going to blow over in a couple of weeks and Gus will be out of the spotlight.
Apparently they stood Chammas down last week because Isaac Moses didn't want him asking his cousin Mitchell any tough questions, wonder if Chammas will be stood down permanently after his little episode with Gus.

Doubt that would happen because it would really be a bad look, but who knows, Gus doesn't like being asked tough questions either. 🤣

I would have liked the Tigers to stash Galvin into KOE until his contract ran out. Bury & forget.

But realistically- there was no win here unless Galvin chose to stay, which ironically IMO was a loss for the Tigers because I've never thought he was as good as Latu.

So we lost him to the Bulldogs for what really amounts to nothing.

So be it.

Run Royce Hunt directly at him & follow it up with Sam Fainu.

Now THAT would be bullying.

But don't DARE get thumped by the Dogs. If we are not up for the next Tigers v Bulldogs game, I'd question the direction of the club.

Well thats not really a source is it? Its third hand unverifiable info. However im sure theres elements of truth to it.
This is also the first time youve presented this info so colour me sceptical for looking at it side eyed.
Ive played team sport for decades. I also work in large teams full of wild bastards.
I find it very hard to believe that a skinny 19yr old kid stood in front of a group of alpha males and told them to their face that they were shit. That may have been their interpretation, but Im sure it didnt go down like you just said it did.
My proof?
Purely anecdotal, but Benji and Richo have given no indication this occurred, to the point that he has played in 4 of the 5 games weve taken the field in since this supposed incident. Its hard to believe there wasnt a mutiny after he called these guys all shit to their faces. Additionally, they were all hugging each other on the field when we beat Cronulla and Saints like there was no bad blood, certainly not to the point it should have been. If someone called me shit to my face in front of everyone, I dont forgive it that quickly.
I read somewhere that during his piss poor speech to the squad at training, he said "you do you. Ill do me". Horribly worded and uncalled for, but not the same as saying they are shit. Moreso, "im going a different path'. Likewise, I think him saying "I just feel that as I move into an important period of my development as a half, that I continue to build my game at a different club" isnt the same as him saying Benji is shit. For all we know, he was told that Latu was the future 6 and his path leads to the backrow at this club - which has been reported before, and he doesnt want to play there.
He did say he was paraphrasing Tucker , and I believe it to be close to the actual truth. It was when he was leaving and basically was saying he can’t become what he needs to become with his group and this coaching staff so of course the other guys would have taken it as a direct criticism of them .. mtd has been pretty dam reliable by my estimation and I absolutely believe this is the story as it was described to him . Chinese whispers are a thing because communication is a lot more complex then people often realise , and I can easily understand how this situation went down in the way that MTD reported it .. mate if you think about it it make a lot of sense .

Not at first he didn’t.
Only after being pressed did that come out.
It doesn’t make sense he told a room full of footballers they were shit - to their faces.come off it.

BREAKING

Lachlan Galvin joins Canterbury Bulldogs effectively immediately, ending two-month Tigers contract saga

Lachlan Galvin is officially a Bulldogs player, with the 19-year-old Belmore bound after securing a release from Wests Tigers, ending a wild two-month contract saga with the club.

David Riccio and Brent Read

It’s official, the Bulldogs have signed Lachlan Galvin.
The 19-year-old will join the Kennel, effective immediately, bringing an end to his two-month contract saga with the Wests Tigers.

Galvin will link with Canterbury as soon as Thursday on a deal that will take him through until the end of the 2028 season.

The deal averages out as just over $750,000 per season - and is less than what rival suitor Parramatta were offering.

Up until now, Canterbury have been reluctant to declare Galvin’s signing as a done deal.

That can now be confirmed as official, although the Dogs may hold off from formally announcing the signing until after Wednesday night’s State of Origin opener.

Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson is aware Galvin’s management finalised the deal with Bulldogs GM of football Phil Gould on Wednesday, and is now in the final stages of rubber-stamping his release in conjunction with both the club and Galvin’s lawyers.

Despite claims of bullying from Galvin against the Wests Tigers, it’s anticipated that the release hinges on it including a non-disparagement clause, which will keep the teenage talent from publicly discussing his reasons for leaving the club.

The Bulldogs are supportive of the clause as they want Galvin to focus on his new future at Belmore without the prospect of being tangled up in a war of words with the Tigers.

The Eels can feel hard done by.

Few know how extraordinarily close Parramatta went to signing Galvin, with the teenager likely to reveal, in time, that he had decided to join the Eels last Friday, only to change his mind after speaking with his family and one of his closest mentors, Bulldogs assistant coach Luke Vella across last weekend.

The release from the Wests Tigers includes a $175,000 release fee which CEO Shane Richardson will use at his discretion.

The Bulldogs have a bye this weekend, allowing Galvin to settle into the club’s training program without a major urgency to be rushed into a starting line-up.

He is expected to be named in Canterbury’s 22-man squad to face Parramatta on the King’s Birthday Monday holiday at Accor Stadium in round 15.
Havent heard/read much about this bloke. Will he be a big loss??

I remember a few years ago in the NFL when the Patriots were running riot, Bill Belichick traded a player to the Lions or Browns, one of the minnows who had one two games. You’d be absolutely filthy if you were Sexton, getting sent to a bottom 4 club. A club he’s already played for. Talk about going backwards.
