OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277

Exactly....its not like a couple of alleged unhappy reggies players is earth shattering news....wouldnt rate a mention anywhere else...yet some here think theres no smear campaign
WT are already at the bottom of the ladder. You don't need a smear campaign to bring us down.

They're writing articles because it generates clicks. You will have 3 days of pro-Tigers articles then the 4th day the one who writes an article anti-club will get more clicks. One new quote from anyone remotely relevant will mean another article.

The media is actually quite predictable with all this. They're not running a smear campaign, just trying to make as much $$ as possible.

Yep. I was listening to MMM Saturday footy around a month ago and the journo (forgot which one) actually said out loud, you want the tigers either smashing it or bombing. If they mid table there’s no story. Made my blood boil…

What's one more

Noone said he did Tucker, they said his manager did on his behalf, whilst providing a list of issues with the coach. It's snakey behaviour in a team environment to be documenting things to use as ammunition to support a claim, without giving the coach a chance to look at them and sort them out 1 on 1 as adults. It's sneaky and screams convenience. The bigger point is he is 19, any news outlet will take his call all he has to do is say I want to publicly apologise to my coach as I don't agree with what my manager claims about his coaching ability, though I will still be leaving in 18 months. He has never once come out and distanced himself from the comments. Imo your paying the manager to represent you, if he says something you don't openly disagree with, you obviously agree with it. Also the list had specific details about a wrestling match where Galvin was told to stop early cause Benji didn't want him hurt or something and Galvin complained it affected his defence development. Those are only details Galvin could give, Moses doesn't have esp. It also shows Galvin has been planning this for awhile, giving these details speaks volumes about his intentions. Any player in that situation would brush it off and forget about it, but if you remember and record it, your looking for excuses against the coach. Like I wrote earlier instead of going to Benji 1 on 1 to resolve it and giving it as a reason to Moses, shows Galvin had no intention of the player coach relationship working, showing the lack of respect he has for Benji as a coach. It's sneaky, snakey behaviour. That would be what's really got the players offside. The seeing things and recording them instead of addressing them.
You are wrong. He’s not saying Benji can’t coach, he’s saying the whole club can’t develop him as well as other clubs can and you would have to be not paying attention to think he’s incorrect.

My guess would be that Moses has told Parra that he could get Galvin released immediately without having to do a player swap. If we could get a gun player in return I reckon Richo would agree to it. Not Brown because he would only be here a few months. Richo will stand strong until an Origin level player is offered in return.

In Gus' latest podcast today about the 32-min mark, he continues to imply there is another reason which hasn't come out why Galvin wants to leave and it may never become public. He says it's a situation that needs immediate mediation for all involved. Whether Gus is just trying to sound like a know-all or actually does know, it's all up for interpretation.

Gould said he knows what the issue is and it's not money. But it needs to be mediated. So he actually knows what it is..so what is it, if he thinks it is untenable?

Gould regurgitated what he's been told by Moses.

He questions why Galvin wants to leave the club and why others have wanted to before him and how the tigers handled the situation.

"I think there's more to it"

"That's why I know there's a deeper story, because what's been portrayed doesn't make sense or justify what's happening at the moment".

Gould suggests that people in the media know what the actual issue is but are tip toeing around it...

I find it hard to believe that it's an issue with the tigers if the media are tip toeing around it.

"Whether it's true or not or whether ppl are accurate or not, what it's going to do to his image and to ppls opinion of him going forward".

To me this insinuates it's something to do with Galvin himself...

As I said above, if it was an issue with the tigers, it would be all over the front page.. people wouldn't be sitting on it..

Gould also reinforces he isn't the first to do this from the tigers a few times. So he's playing both sides.
Well there is the story going around about his father but it hasn’t been reported anywhere.

Yeah sorry I just edited my post because I missed the end of it where Gould said he knew what the issue is.

So maybe you are spot on.

So maybe the dressing room saga with old man isn't so far fetched.

Eh, I'd love to know

Me too. But if you could trade him with a good player who wants to be here I think you would.
I would say no and these are my reasons -

What is the definition of a good player noting Richo's view on Galvin's talent?
A good player will have to want to be at WTs.
I cannot envisage a club surrendering a good player so Galvin can be released.
There are salary cap implications which would need to be considered noting Galvin's contract.
This may set a precedent for the next schoolboy star we produce from our pathways.

Very interesting, but why do you think Benji is to blame for the demotion? He picks a 22 from his top 30 or available cover players. Following that Aaron Payne picks his best 18/19 players for cup. Is it because they are top 30 players it is Benjis responsibility to monitor their progress with this new process?
Blame maybe is more to Richo for not providing a suitable staff member for this task or Betsy.
Isn’t Betsy covering 2 roles as the moment, i think there is still a gap there and it may also be in our best interest to get in a head of football that is experienced in that job.
My preference would actually be for Richo to step across into that role and we appoint a more business minded football CEO. More of a filet than a rump steak, leaving Richo to focus solely on what is needed to run a football team and pathways.
Would depend how the footy dept is structured and whose responsibility is it to follow this supposed process. Ultimately, the buck would stop with who runs the footy dept and that's the Head Coach isn't it or is it Betsey?

I would have thought Betsy. But who knows how Richo set it up given he sacked the recruitment department and leaves that up to him and Benji.

I’d give anything to be able to follow a team, just for once, that is just left alone by the media so they can concentrate on their preparations for each game without headlines and drama. Teams like Cronulla, Canberra, North Qld, Warriors, Newcastle, Parra, Dolphins, Storm and Titans in particular are allowed to just go about their business each week without any distractions or disruptions to their prep or their mental state because of media highlighted crap going on behind the scenes all the time. If they have any press attention at all, it’s usually positive.

The media might think it’s lucrative because articles about us generate clicks or whatever, though I still for the life of me can’t see why! As a perennial losers I don’t see why we are so interesting, tbh. Maybe it’s because people enjoy watching a train wreck, I don’t know. In any case, you say there is no smear campaign and it’s just all about money, yet continual scrutiny of our club derails our season every bloody year! In my opinion, that is a smear campaign with the money attached as a bonus.
