OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277

His game yesterday was a window into the future. His pass to Samuel’s was the result of him getting a good pass from a 5/8, playing wide as a centre or back rower and getting a good ball away to his outside man. His tackle on Hazleton was great covering effort.

Unfortunately, his game as a pure 5/8, while energetic and committed came up short, especially from a kicking perspective.
The kid IS NOT a 5/8.
He is a terrific footballer, but not a 5/8.
It was reported last year that our management see him as an eventual backrower. Maybe that is the lack of development he is on about? Seems desperate to be seen as a game winning 5/8….

Loves his hands on the ball. I think he could end up in the 7 personally - Matty Johns and Cronk actually debated this tonight with Cronk not ruling out that eventuality. Cronk said at the moment he’s just playing what he sees but will eventually understand the science of it all. Compared him to a young Munster and predicted in 5 years he’ll be in his prime.

Johns was leaning more to lock hybrid type role.

I agree with Johns.

He might need to change managers if he’s going to knock back halves money.
Yeah true.
Just on Munster….Id aim to emulate better 5/8ths than him.
I like Cam as a player. He is a perfectly great NRL level 5/8, don’t get me wrong, but as a clutch player in big games…I.e. prelims, grand finals, SOO, and even Tests where he is the main man, he often fails.
The headless chook, run it till it works thing is impressive occasionally, but it losses lots of important games.

Mate the whole league world knows Parramatta has done us dirty again with the same family involved.
Yea I know , but if you’re the bears tell me you don’t go all in on Galvin . I personally think Latu is better , and I’ll die on that hill , but everyone else in the nrl disagrees , so why not give him 5 years 7 mil . They’re not going to get who they want IMO. Unless they can jag some springbok to play fullback or something crazy.

He’ll be locked up by Parra before the bears get a chance at him. I reckon the Tigers will release him when they get a player in exchange that they want. Up until then they’ll play hardball and say their keeping him to his contract.

Like others I give him a lot of credit for how he handled it. Especially as a 19 year old.

The Hazelton tackle was epic, but overall it was still 2025 Lachie rather than last season Lachie.

What I did really notice was that his kicking game overall was pretty poor and I feel his grubbers are a bit more luck than design. The 1st or 2nd tackle one that Kennedy ran out is just inexperience, but it feels like the team is often unaware when it's on.

How is all that different to 24?

Could very well be subjectivity and not remembering things exactly as they were; it just feels like far more of what he did last year came off and he has been far less effective this year (even before everything came out).

You're probably right. Rose coloured glasses, etc...

Credit where credit is due but that tackle on Hazelton was top class and shows he clearly wants to be in the team..

What I cannot work out is WHY, why leave the club when it is clearly on the rise, A lot of his mates are here, he is the main vocal point, the club has put all these top line players around him to succeed and he was going to be paid extremely well.. I still believe this is all him Managers work and slowly talking him and his parents into a move but I think he will regret it.

I think we will keep him this year and when he signs elsewhere in Nov we will release him early IF we get something we want in return. Thats gives Latu or someone else the off season with Laui to build combos .
He won't regret it and will quickly move on like Mitch Moses did. Richardson has reaffirmed the club's position that he will see out his contract. A player swap would involve having to deal with Moses. What club would give up a quality player with the market so tight and new clubs on the horizon? I prefer to trust Richardson and Marshall to identify and recruit a quality player we need. As for the tackle on Hazelton, yes it was good but what about the appalling attempt on the Sharks' winger which resulted in a try? I commented at the time Laurie Daley would have bent that winger in half.

My guess we will hang on to him for this season and part company at the end of the year. That will give them a full pre season to bed in Latu. I also expect it would involve some sort of compensation from the mystery club he is going to…Parra

Of course could be wrong, but that way the club is been seen as strong by not buckling to Moses straight away. It will also give the media circus time to pack up and move on

That kick he tried on the 2nd or 3rd behind Mulitalo was such a crazy play.....

No one knew it was coming.
He's lucky we got the ball back, otherwise it'd be spray worthy.

I know Benji has allowed him to play what he sees, but some structure wouldn't hurt either.
He is like that kid in the under 9’s who is playing right wing but just runs around behind the ball all game. And then when there is a stoppage in the play he starts doing cartwheels and chasing butterflies.

There’s an angle mate where you can see he is full stretch and barely gets a finger on him. Our defense was all over the place and that play should have been stopped on our right side.

The one in the second half on their second rower was a poorer attempt.
