Lame Membership Numbers - Whats the fix?

@Staks said:
I can report there has been an improvement in the bandwagoner percentage. The following data shows an improvement in 2014….
Total Type %
183,216 Facebookers 100.00%
5,596 Members 3.05%
5,000 Out of towners 2.73%
7,000 Cant afforders 3.82%
**165,620 Bandwagoners 90.40%**
Data Sources: Facebook, WT website, data.com.cy

I'm predicting the bandwagoner percentage to improve to 90.39% by kickoff round 1.

:sign:

Bandwagoners typically won't purchase memberships. They will pay to go to a game when a team starts winning. They will log-on to a forum for the same reason but they won't commit long term.

We still need bandwagoners because in their own way they support our club. They're not bad people. I live in Rockhampton but when I see someone in a Tigers jersey or shirt I don't ask them if they are card carrying members. What I do know is that we have something in common- the Wests Tigers. That's good enough for me.

What about those that have been members but have decided against that this season for whatever reason?

I mean with an 8 game/$50deal on offer, memberships should be increasing.

Do they support the team?

Or do they support certain grounds, certain players, certain coaches???

Yeah membership numbers should be up around 15-20k for this club..it feels like there are 5,000 people on this forum sometimes, yet that's all the total membership numbers we have…pretty sad really....the club has come to the party for very good membership deals 8 games for $50 ( less than $7 per game) on that deal alone we should have 10,000 members!..anyway I'm into my 4 year of membership with my 2 sons and I cant wait to see the boys go around in 2014...and TBH it was a no brainer when it came to renewing our membership for 2014...we got the 8 games at ANZ deal....and we'll be members for many more years to come.

Part of the 90.4%

Good enough for me too, yet I have never owned a Tigers (either breed) guernsey or even worn one since my first memories of them in 1969 (actually that Grand Final day is the first memory of my life) but it does not make a post bad loss week easy for me.

"Whatever reason". That is just it, everybody is different and their reasons will vary. For me, I would have gone to some two hundred plus Tigers games over the years, yet only became a member of the JV for the first time in 2010, and have not attended a game in that time.

For the other points/questions, the easy answer is yes, to varying degrees and with different levels of passion.

It's my hope one of the independant appointees specialises, or has a background in, sports marketing. It's clear the current management team are deficient in this area. That's if they really want to target more members. Apart from the ANZ ticketing offer, which I concede is a good one, I haven't seen any other initiatives to inspire anyone to sign up. As Mayer has conceded there will be no new marquee signings for next season, which I see as a backflip, I can't see member numbers improving much without new ideas, new promotions, new offers …. Something to inspire one to join up.

They actually had a deal today for the kids at the junior rego sign up days at Cambo & Concord….memberships for kids and two GA tix for $25

There is also a forum today for non returning members, theyve been specifically targetted and invited to a Q& A at Concord to determine just why they didnt renew

just because I don't have a membership doesn't mean I don't support the team. people show their support in different ways. I support buy paying stupid prices for jerseys and going to games when I can.

I only became a member this year because of this deal. Living out of Sydney I may only get to 3 or 4 games. At this price it doesn't matter if I don,t get to every game I have paid for. I am wondering if WT are promoting this properly. I don't think any other club comes near this.

Give buying a jersey a miss one year or two…how many do you need?

Buy a membership, it includes **game day prices**

I can do it how I want and will not be dictated to as to how I must support my team.

Jerseys or tickets it all goes to the club anyway. I don't see the issue? You work in marketing and need to ramp the numbers up?

Was that you in the prior post?
I never said you dont suport the team….but you said youre being dictated to. LOL
I dont give a stuff what you do, you got a guilty conscience or something?
Why all defensive?
No - dont work in marketing, just commenting on memberships :unamused:
I was initially talking about prior members last year who have NOT renewed this year....its not how you MUST support them, its obviously what the club wants tho...geez relax

A forum for non returning members at Concord hey …. Now just what makes Mayer think all the non returning members are going to show up with a note in hand ..... Ridiculous.

Targeting the kids on the other hand is a far more sensible solution. They are the next generation that will one day hold this clubs future in their hands. More must be done.

Yeh…ridiculous ...ridiculous to try find out why people arent returning

As for thinking theyd all show, theyd probably hope for a few...which could give them some answers, but yeh thats just ridiculous

At last we agree on something.
As if fans are going to show up and confess their sins …. Get real.

You're kidding right, of course some of them are going to show up. In fact I bet a few them re-signed today as it made them feel all good about themselves and the club again. How else do you expect the club to find out why people have not renewed?

It is good that the club is making an effort to find out why some members haven't renewed otherwise how will they know what needs to be fixed. Given some the the pricing, it is surprising that more haven't rejoined but people have their reasons. I know a few of last years members who didn't rejoin because the option of buying a membership for just Cambo and Leichhardt wasn't offered. Maybe others can't accept Beji going, others may be waiting to see how the team goes after the last two years of disappointment, perhaps there are those whom don't think the coach will do any better this year. My point is that there are plenty of reasons the key is a simple one and that is a winning team, well simple in theory.

Now how would you know that ?

…and how would you know none would attend this forum knuckles?

Grow up, youre acting like a child.

These people wouldve been invited to a personal forum as I'm sure if it were left to the anonymity of twitter/email etc the club would likely only recieve abuse in return.

They were holding a junior rego day, fan day -- everything was already in place....killing a few birds with one stone - trying to boost memberships...grow the game in our juniors...I cannot see how they can be criticised here

Its clear some peoples personal opinions overide their common sense...leading to an extremely juvenile attitude

Kids don't pay the parents do. It's the parents you need to convince its a good idea.
