Lame Membership Numbers - Whats the fix?

To me it's simple - one home ground.

One SUITABLE home ground.

I can't believe that in our 15 years we still have multiple home grounds. I am a supposed "dinosaur" from the gold side but I've already stated that I believe we should concentrate our playing and training base out Campbelltown way. To me, it's a no- brainer.

The Sydney inner city NRL market is shrinking. That's why there no longer is a Balmain or Western Suburbs anymore. Make our intent known to the NRL and governments. Get funding for a new or upgraded stadium (capacity +25k). Do we lose current members? Probably but they still remain supporters. I live in Rockhampton been a Tiger supporter all my life. My dad was born in Balmain.

I bought 2 x Supporter memberships this year but I believe they don't count in official membership numbers because I don't attend games. I wouldn't join at all before because there was always a game included for distant/interstate members. No good for me.

If CQ gets a NRL team will I support them? Not on your life but I will go watch when they play the Tigers.

I'm pretty sure supporter memberships do count towards the total membership numbers (not 100% certain but fairly sure) and they should do as well, they are relatively expensive and provide club voting rights don't they? I'm not entirely sure.

The memberships that shouldn't count but do for some reason are the ridiculous "single match" membership stunts etc. that the Rabbitohs etc. pull. It's farcical that those are counted in the tallies, some of them are worth $15 for god sake.

I would be setting up a booth outside the ground this week and next and loudly promoting the savings of purchasing a membership. Constantly hammering the line that for the price of 2 games you can receive 8 games at ANZ. I'd have generic passes available, without the members name, just a number, and get them to sign then and there based on the value of the ANZ deal. Allow them to use their membership straight away.

I think you could probably sell a couple of thousand memberships in this fashion next Sunday.

Maybe have some of our injured players selling the memberships.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get into Sunday's game against St George if our membership packs haven't arrived yet?

Anyone have a number I can use to contact the club about my membership pack not arriving?

Zaibatsu, the AFL only recognise match day memberships. Each club offer varying types but the AFL recognise 3 game memberships and above. The clubs themselves sell pet, baby and non match memberships, however, these aren't recognised by the AFL.

The NRL are hoping to match the AFL so I suspect that my membership is not recognised in any counting.

I've had my tickets not show up for the 1st round game 2 times in the past, the club provided me with paper tickets on both occasions.

A third time they hadn't showed up and I emailed Noyce and he gave me his mobile phone number to call him if I couldn't get in so he could come out and let me in personally.

well it's official.

tiger's currently have the LOWEST membership numbers for 2014 from any team. the eels have doubled us, raiders are also beating us. pretty disappointed, for a team with 180k likes on facebook and that rated pretty well in 2011-12, 6k members is shocking.

can't fault the club, they've tried very hard. still room for improvement but it's really up to the fans whether they actually support the club or benji when he's on.

Where did you get the numbers from pHyR3 ??

from a leagueunlimited thread titled 2014 memberships, we were sitting pretty low a few weeks ago but have slipped behind raiders and warriors. basically someone's been collating membership numbers (you can verify yourself if you wish)

Great idea!! ^^^^

And they should put guys like Moltz, Siro and anyone else who isn't playing at the front gate to engage with potential members and get them to sign up!!

- How many memberships could guys like Lote, And Tank have signed up if they were working the stands during long stints on the sideline instead of hiding in the Players pen!!

I actually think it is quite a simple idea and easily executed, but you watch we will have a rubbish little membership tent with no promotion inside the ground.

I have seen us with a membership tent outside the SFS in the past but did absolutely nothing to promote it or get people over to the tent. We should really be pushing that ANZ membership to the extreme. You already have people about to go to one game, you only need to convince them that the will get value for money by attending just 1 more game during the season.

It cost $22 to pre-purchase tix to this game, $50 really isn't much more than that.

Yeah I know what you mean…..I was at the fan day/kids rego the other week at Concord, great day...the membership marquee the staff were just sitting there - not actively engaging in people passing by...when someone approached them yeh they were involved but more can be done....these one off things like this is when they need to grab the customer, not let them walk by

For me personally, Working under the assumption that the point of most membership pack's are to get you to the games, There actually isn't anything they could do to get me to join.

I actually dont enjoy going to the football for a multitude of reasons.

I'd much rather watch games on TV.

Exactly what I mean, it was the same at the trial at Camden and has been that way for years. It could be a simple as having injured players sitting there signing autographs, just do something to get people over to the tent. For the 1st couple of ANZ games though I would be actively engaging the consumer and pushing the value of the ANZ membership.

Fair enough that you like to watch the box, on a wet and windy winter's day or night, it is the place to be. However, the club wants you as a member.

Whilst we have a ticketed family package and will be attending this year, I have not been to a match for over 4 years now since the missus was pregnant, yet I still signed up for a supporters package back then.

You are obviously a keen enough supporter to read and post on here, so if you can afford the fifty bucks, get the supporters membership. Better still, take up the general admission ANZ package for the same price. You can keep the kit, and with the now free transport to the ground, I am sure somebody that would really like to attend but cannot afford tickets, could be found through here and send you a PM, or else the club would know of someone.

Quick edit; anyone else out there in the same position or others like cqtiger above whose location inhibits attendance could do the same thing. It is a win win situation, you get to support the club and do a good deed for one less privileged, for the additional cost of say a stamped envelope and a little time :sign:

Number has crept up to 5779, increasing by only a couple hundred a week over the last couple weeks, and 890 since 31 Jan. In the previous 2 years, we have seen a big kick in February, where
- 3084 members signed up between 5 Feb 2013 and 25 Feb 2013 (154 a day).
- 3345 members signed up between 15 Feb 2012 and 29 Feb 2012 (239 a day).

No sign of a kick in sales at all this year…

thanks for the stats mate!

this issue seems endemic THROUGHOUT the nrl, pretty much every single damn club. we were tracking very well and alll of a sudden it just fizzled. I have absolutely no clue why….

my hope is the NRL wants to surprise us with a 30k increase in 1 week haha

I renewed in November and still haven't received my pack. Club assures me it will arrive this week and says it was a Ticketek stuff up.

Last year, my mate did not receive his ticket until round 3 due to a stuff up.

Doesn't seem very well organised.

It has never been well organised. The membership team should have extra staff at this time to make sure the membership packs arrive.

I am still waiting for mine but I only renewed 3 weeks ago. Are they being sent by post this year?
