The Roosters still in the box seat with Latrell especially now there appears to be few takers.
At only 22 he has plenty of time for the big money deal, and 800k for the next couple of years is huge money provided the relationship between player and the coach is still salvagable.

What I’m concerned about most is all the former players sticking their nose in and publicly advising Mitchell he’d be better off staying where is. I hope he is not easily swayed by these bozos’ opinions and can make up his own mind.

The Mole: Cowboys really want Valentine Holmes rather than Latrell Mitchell

Are the Cowboys playing games with Latrell Mitchell in a bid to put the pressure on Valentine Holmes to return from the USA to Townsville?

My spies up north tell me that the Cowboys are somewhat interested in Mitchell following his bust-up with the Roosters - but wannabe New York Jet Holmes is their real target.

Holmes is currently weighing up whether to return to the NRL after missing out on a spot on the Jets' roster, landing a contract on their training squad.

Holmes' management knows the Cowboys cannot afford both their man and Mitchell on big dollars.

The Cowboys went out of their way last week to declare their interest in Mitchell - but I am hearing Holmes, who hails from North Queensland, is the man they prefer to sign.

I'm hoping we're holding off for the Cowboys to sign Val so that if LM is indeed on the nose with Easts his bargaining power will drop.

@Spud_Murphy would be horrible if he stays at roosters they literally have 8 times more tallent on there bench than any other team has in there starting roster it’s a joke who wants to see roosters win again?

Sort of think Latrell doesn't think he gets the recognition he deserves at the Roosters.
Trouble is at 22 he hasn't earned that right yet and his game is too inconsistent.
He may be a player who needs to be the leader of the team and might thrive in a team of less superstars.
But having only ever played with the best he has no idea of the challenges that come with that. Lots to think about for him and us, but his ability alone means it would be foolish of us not to have a red hot crack to lure him over with the plan to give him some quality to play behind/with.

The alternative to our board deliberating is a hasty signing, like Reynolds, Matulino, Packer......
Due diligence.

You can say it till you are blue in the face, it won't be good enough for some. The club can't win no matter what they do. They cop it for signing nuffies, then cop it for opening their wallet to pay a superstar. They get heat for signing lemons like McQueen and a guy like Reynolds who can't stay fit, then when they take a different approach and do some due diligence, they're incompetent because they can't seal the deal. You can always find a negative angle if you are looking for one.

You usually don't have to look hard though and again if you saw the Storm ,Roosters making the same mistakes you cut them some slack

If you went off success rates , 2004 was probably our best recruiting year

That's a long time ...my son is getting his licence in 2 months ....he is a 2004er

Ah you’re such a saint. I bet you’ve never complained a day in your life ?

Found this interesting from Corey Thompson about Mitchell...

“If Latrell put his mind to it he could kill it at any position but I played there last year and I’m looking forward to playing there again next year,” the 29-year-old told AAP.

“I’m always ready for a good fight for a position

“**When Latrell comes he’ll be a great weapon for us.**”

Corey, I love you brother, but you won't give up the fullback jumper without a fight? Who you kidding son?

He'll be fighting for a spot in the 17, not the fullback position.

When do you expect LM to walk on water?

I'd be disappointed myself if Cory didn't fight for the position.

How's this for a theory lol.

Tedesco has done all he can do at the Rorters and wants to return to the Tigers, who he knows are looking for a quality fullback. Rorters are forced to cut Mitchell so they can throw everything at retaining Tedesco.

Completely made up of course, but hey anything's possible.

So would I but let’s face it. To use a Simpsons reference. In the episode where they have the football team and Nelson is the star, and he uses Bart as a battering ram to fend off the defence, then he turns for no reason at all, runs and tramples a kid nowhere near the play just because he could. LM is Nelson, and Thomo is the poor kid he trounced.
